I don't know about this situation, but I can tell you for a fact that in the old days it was quite common to get rid of bodies by placing them in car crushers at a salvage yard and sending them to Japan as scrap metal. This meant having a working relationship with both a salvage yard owner and a scrap company in Japan. My dad used to know a salvage yard owner who did this for an old school gangster in my area. (One of dad's older brothers owned an auto repair shop.)
I know of a machine on the harbor that you dump fish in. Turns tons of fish into chum.
I have it on good authority that a few bodies got dumped into it back in the 80s.
