- The Grudge. It came after The Ring, but wasn't as good, though neither is really as good as the foreign original. Well, Sarah Michelle Gellar is here, and some other stuff happens. I think. Anyway, there's a new one for 2019 or 2020 and so we went back to the "original remake" looking for sins. And I'll be damned... we found some.
Thursday: Modern scary sins!
Remember, no movie is without sin! Which movie's sins should we expose next?!

“I saw a face!”
“Did it have a nose?”
“Yes”
“...that does sound like a face”
Funniest line in that movie!
@@LnPPersonified dude had me in tears
Given how many anime characters are drawn noseless, maybe not so much like a face after all.
Cindy and Brenda are the best.
@@LnPPersonified What movie?
Okay, so kinda funny story: I went to watch this when it came out, my girlfriend back then couldn't go with me, and neither could any of my friends, so I said screw it, and went by myself, I got into the theater, and sat, trailers started showing up, and I noticed NO ONE ELSE was in the theater, just me, the movie started, still NO ONE, I decided to switch seats all the way to the back, but it didn't help, I was scared shitless, and the scariest thing, was in the scene just before the bed part, that the girl gets a call from her fake brother, my phone rang just at that SAME moment and I yelled so bad, also, it was an unknown number, lol, but it turned out to be a friend who saw me earlier walking to the movie theater.
Anyway, thanks for reading this, hope it was a bit funny for you.
So your gf and friends is unavaiable at the same time......That is something worth concerning.....
When you want the full immersive horror experience. Scariest part is your GF and friends not being available
lol THAT scared you?
Wait till she tells you she's pregnant. You'll know true fear.
Holy shit! I woulda bolted! 😱
@@sirenofthesea7802 The thought crossed my mind, tbh, but I kept thinking that I had already paid xD
I don’t care if this movie was generally received as bad, it literally traumatized me to this day.
I watched this for the first time only recently because I was just getting into horror movies and this movie was meh at best for me but the only one in the trilogy I would watch again.
Nothing scares me after wrong turn and wolf creek
the grudge scared me for 2 years and it finally stopped scaring me im glad that i can handle it now
Hate that sound!
This movie is shit, its not scary at all
We cannot deny, this was a scary movie
@Batman well your friggin batman
I thought it was kinda boring
Not only is this movie good at being terrifying without including excessive blood and gore, the general concept behind the Japanese curse is really fascinating to me.
@@CarrickWebb I agree. However, you know what makes this a sort of good movie? After the fact, when you think about it and get scared , then you know you have a pretty decent movie. The elevator scene is one such moment for me. In other words, if you look back and are still affected by it, it’s done its job as a horror movie
@@crazyalarmstudios2012 lol so funny how ppl never compare the grudge to anything else but the Ring. Respectfully. how is “scary” defined by what is dated or not? It depends. In the horror movie 1408, many dare to not enter that room because of how old it was and it was haunted with paranormal spirits. Also, you obviously haven’t seen Rings 2017. I laugh when ppl mock the VHS tape when technology continues to evolve. Samaras video gets uploaded online and spreads all over the internet. So yes the video is still a threat. Whereas in the grudge you’re only affected in one location with one house. Vs a video that’s everywhere. Overall the grudge girl still scared me more, but the Ring was always more iconic. It started that J horror trend in early 2000s . Then came grudge, then dark water, then other J Horror remakes
“Discount Tom Cruise” is actually Tom Cruise’s cousin 🙂
Cool fact.
That checks out.
Oh! 🤯

God damn, this movie fucked me up when I was a kid haha. I was terrified of the dark for a couple months, not to mention I couldn’t get the image of her wide eyes and long black hair out of my head. Still kinda gives me the heebie-jeebies...

*The last Cinemasins in this Decade*
This makes me sad
Brandon Harrold how? There will be another video in a week.
The decade actually begins in 2021
Triple D let’s hope there’s many more decades to come
the first cinemasins of this decade dont you mean .
when I watched this movie I was waaay too young, and I watched it without adult supervision.... and it traumatized me and I wasnt even able to see the cover without almost starting to cry. and it had that effect on me well into my teens. Its just now recently (I am now 23, 24 in 4 monthes) that I have been able to even see clips of the movie and be ok
Just check your closet now and then ma'am
Dude, I feel you!! I was 8 when I watched this...I was so traumatized! I'm 23 and I just recently watched the 2nd one with the lights on during the day and be somewhat okay.
This movie seems to have that effect even on adults too. It happened to me. And im 28
Same here. Also made the mistake of watching the original Japanese movie. I'm also 24 and scared of long black hair in the shower and closing my eyes in the shower etc. Doesn't help that I too have long black hair.
Sometimes.. I become afraid that something will be coming for me from under the covers at night, or my closet door will open and I'll dragged into it by long black hair. I'm 20, gonna turn 21 in August. Like y'all I'm still traumatized to this day.
If you watch all the original shorts and such that lead up to this movie it actually does show that most of Japan was wiped out by the curse because each person the original grudge killed was considered a death full of fury and rage so the curse took over like a pandemic.
I’ve never been able to finish this movie. First time: dvd stopped. Second: power outage. Third: DVD player bit the dust.
Watching this, my lamp started flickering. I’m cursed by this movie.
Might need to get the wires in your home checked.
Wow..a sign
Where do you live? An abandoned building?
The fact that your first name is the same as the CinemaSins' *main sinner* Jeremy Scott's concerns me more when given this context
Maybe time to burn the house down
I watched this movie when I was 12, I have never been so scared
If you want to get scared you should watch the original Japanese.
same, the movie scarred the shit outta me
@@TEKKENKING23No, no I don't think I will
LUKE I LOVE YOU, YOUR THE BEST JEDI EVER 😭😭😭😭😭

The "Rachel" joke from the Ring killed me 😂
Stephanie Jarrett i think it was a friends joke, take thee rachel
@@jasperhartevelt6622 I still think it was from the ring, if you watch the video about what's wrong with the ring he mentions how the boy uses Rachel's name all the time (instead of mom)
Hahaha! Me too! Loved it 😂

4:55 because it doesn’t matter, the curse already consumed her, as soon as you step into the house you’re already dead. You can try to buy your time, but it doesn’t matter there is no escape.
What if you go to mars?
The one movie that will haunt me forever. It finally gets a sinning.
Daphne from Scooby Doo gets haunted
This time the ghosts are real
Bobby Papoutsis were you born after 1999?
If only she took off the mask she’d realise it was old man Smithers this whole time.
Not gonna lie, I still get scared at night in my bed when I think of the grudge girl sneaking into the bed covers with the rabbits foot. This movie scarred me for life with that scene.
And that scene is why I'm in the comments for this video and not watching the video
Yeah . Same it caused me to have a horrifying sleep paralysis experience
I know, I am still pissed at this movie for taking away my illusion that under the covers was a safe place :(
Honestly, same. Also I like your pfp governor!
“And it sucks” I mean, you’re wrong, but continue
This is arguably one of the best westernized horror movie remakes
Especially since it’s the original director. He just got more money.
Agreed! When they put "more terrifying than The Ring" on the cover I could not find the lie.
damn right!
I thought it was pretty bad, mainly because it telegraphs who is going to die so quickly and then takes forever to do it. Not to mention the entire beginning is "this person dies then this person dies then this person dies". And it's not even in order! I don't mind time jumps but it was too jarring and discontinuous for no real reason. Plus every death is just like a ghost's face then cut to the next thing. You don't even see the death it's just implied and not in a suggestive way where your mind is forced to imagine it, it's just like "oh this person disappeared therefore they're dead". EVERY TIME. Yoko's zombie scene was cool but otherwise it just felt like it was going through the motions for me. I feel so critical about it because I loved the (American) ring and everyone always compares the two franchises but this one was just so much worse in my eyes. I wanted it to be at least as good and felt a bit let down when I didn't feel that way.
@@dantevaun903 meh, that TV scene blew up back then which why it was so heavily parodied. It made many ppl paranoid arguably more than the grudge. I’ll be honest and say the grudge girl scared me more, but The Ring is the more iconic one. It started that whole J Horror trend in the early 2000s. The came grudge, dark water and so on. It’s also very heavily parodied. I’ve seen grudge here and there but not near as much as Ring. Even Amazing world of gumball did it.

One sin removed for beeing the scariest thing ive ever seen in a movie. No joke, this thing, pulling the woman under the blanket with both of them just disappearing into nothing had me nightmares for ever!
Any horror movie that breaks the universal, "nothing can get you if youre under the covers" rule, I get genuinely freaked because it destroys my only method of consulation in case of good horror
"PHONES ARE NOT STARTLING!" That's where you're wrong, kiddo.
These days just because its a familiar number it chould be telemarketers that's real horrer right there answering your phone that could be a mixed bag it might be a friend or it chould be a scamer
I agree, especially those old ones. In a quiet house when you are already on edge, yep. They can be startling as hell, just like the toaster popping up toast.
Foxy356 I mean, if it’s quiet and you’re already scared then yes, phones are startling
@@JustKelso1993 Dude you sound like you get startled by the sound of someone blinking their eyes in a quiet hallway in the dark.
People who get startled by phones are the kinda weak sauce people that spooked by cheap jumpscares and loud sounds.
Also, if telemarketers are spooky... you can terrorize them by talking about anything random/crazy or pretend to speak another language.
"Thought you like to see me before I eat you" haha amazing
mightyleo24 no
I love that at 14:34 Jermey said "call 119", which is the correct emergency number (to call the fire department or ambulance) used in Japan. They've done their homework.
Actually it's 110
119 is fire and ambulance. 110 is police. I wonder if one alerts the other when needed 🤷🏻♀️
Saw this movie when I was 12 and to this day, it's still the scariest horror movie for me. Even nowadays, I get the jitters for hours whenever I see a screenshot of it. This video helps my fears somewhat
I saw this in theaters when I was 16. It scared the crap out of me. Years later, the clips in this video still make me uneasy.
Same, ive bene waiting for him to make this video in hopes it would give me a way to stop being scared of the movie 😂

Yesss. It was the first horror movie i watched and it caused so much trauma to me i still to this day shiver when i hear the "aaaaaa" sound.
Some people might not like it, but we can't deny that the makeup effects and the acting from the girl who plays the grudge is pretty crazy. I mean that last scene where she's crawling down the stairs and bloody... nope!
Fucking right. I snuck into my parents room when they were watching this. I was 3 at the time and I couldn't stand the dark afterwards I swear I could see the grudge from the shadows. Many nightmares too, funny shit.

First off, yes in Japan its custom to provide house shoes for guests when they come over. Typically there are 3 pairs of shoes used in the home, 1 pair for outside, 1 pair for inside, and 1 pair used for the garden area out back if there is one. Also its illegal to disclose supernatural rumors or significant deaths in a home when selling it unless the Seller wishes to disclose it.

Watched this for the first time when I was only 12 and it honestly traumatised me. Finally got myself to rewatch it yesterday, I’m now 18 and a huge fan of horror films so know it wouldn’t scare me now but I just haven’t been able to get myself to see it again because of the memories of how badly it scared me the first time 😂
When I was 9 this movie did a number on me had nightmares for two months
Man, I could just hear a billion people vocal frying the title.
Its funny how he’s basically given up on writing the minutes in the title
This movie was my childhood, the first horror movie I'd ever seen, it also inspired me into the horror movie and game realm. I will always have a soft spot for all 3 of the Grudge movies, I wanna see the remake and I have so much nostalgia right now
I'll take your inclusion of David S . Pumpkins to confirm my suspicion that the skit is indeed hilarious, contrary to what everyone I've shown it to has said.
See, I JUST got over the nightmares this and "The Ring" gave me!! I really watched this on a minimized screen, with a drop menu covering the entire viewing area!! And you still got me with that gawd-awful throat burp gurgle noise!!! I only clicked on this to prove that I'm 40 and no longer scared of it!! So....fail...I guess...😔
The Grudge is super spooky, but it's not as spooky as the original Thai version of Shutter!
The American adaptation of The Ring still holds up. This and every other Asian horror from early 2000s nooo
@@vsusanmoon Whaaat?! Nooo! The Ring was terrible!! They completely botched the end too by trying to be all spooky and shocking, but it was just dumb! You needa rewatch that trainwreck with not-16-year-old eyes, my dude!! D:
Try watching "Sadako vs Kayako".
It's basically a "Let them fight" movie between the Grudge and the RIng. The plot of the movie is two girls: one cursed by the Grudge and the other by the Ring, goes to a exorcist, and his idea for them to be free from these curses is for both of them to get cursed by each other's curse. In hopes, that they will cancel each other out. It was a fun, yet scary movie to watch.
To those that are interested in watching this movie, go to "kissasian.sh", it's only in Japanese dub with English sub.

Someone skips work for a day or two. Not a reason to get worried or suspicious. People fake call in and often just bail from work all the time.
Honestly, the noise the grunge makes is such a good vocal stim
