  • Over a third rule prevents teams from quickly passing the ball from one end of the court to the other without involving all sections of the court. It encourages ball movement across the entire playing area and helps maintain balance in the game. Failure to adhere to the "Over a Third" rule results in a Free pass to the opposing team from where the infringement occurred. This rule is fundamental in promoting fair play and strategic ball movement in netball.
