Eric. Like a ton of us golfers, I watch a lot of instructors, but I think you explain all of this the best of the bunch. You are by far my favorite.
Really appreciate that Peter! Thank you for watching and supporting!!
Easier to understand as you teach than when Pete Cowan says "spin the arm down"
Pete Cowan
The master of saying everything without actually saying anything
All he does is absolute waffle
@@SL0409.. is that why the pros go to him, they must all be very gullible or maybe you’re just plain wrong, hmmmm 🤔
@@cdunne1620no, he is just full of waffle and talks absolute bollocks
Appreciate it!!
😭😭😭 I thought it was me
Best golf instructor around.
Appreciate it Dave!
Thanks Eric so much for this video and of course all your great videos. You and Danny Maude. are the best out there no doubt. Keep it coming from friend......
Thanks Neal! I appreciate the kind words and support!!
Thank you… it finally clicked. Weaker grip more external rotation of the trail hand. Genius!!
Glad to hear it!
Thanks Eric. Always enjoy your lessons. For me, I need to feel left hand dominant during the transition and down through impact. Thanks for mentioning that I can achieve the same thing by rotating left forearm and bowing my left wrist.
Thanks Joe! For sure!!
감사합니다 잘 배우고 있습니다
Best visual ever
Thank you!
Brilliant, as usual, Eric. Love your channel, bro.
Thanks Jamie! Appreciate it!
I had totally lost my strike whilst playing competitive matches for my club. I was really struggling not only with a two way miss but also the resulting distance variability i.e., weak strike super short whilst good strikes were super long. I did this drill yesterday and now have strike back. Can sometimes over-draw but huge improvement. Also feel like I can now rotate my forearms and hands as fast and powerfully as I like without starting the ball left. Thank you!!
Great to hear Chris!
Really tried to emphasize this feel today at the range, only took a couple balls to really see improved strike. Still needs some work to tighten it up but loved this drill.
Great to hear! Slow and steady!
Great video Eric, Thanks as always
Appreciate it!!
Thanks Eric!
Our pleasure James!
Great Advice tips
Thank you!
This is great!
Thanks!
Nice video. My feel is sort of like I'm hitting a forehand topspin with a tennis racket. I get both the forearm rotation to square the face and the release on the follow through.
Yes! I like that!!
The information you give for just the general golfer is amazing man your work is appreciated for sure
Thank you :)
Good one Eric.
Thanks Jim!
Awesome video. I have been really struggling off the Tee to the point I leave my driver at home. So was wondering if this also works with driver and 3 wood?
Cheers✌️
Thank you!
Similar stuff for sure---if you're struggling with driver (without seeing your swing) I would start with this one:
czcams.com/video/llgmdwOPxx4/video.html
@CogornoGolf Awesome thank you I will give it a try.
Cheers ✌️
This is the most important if you want to advance to the next level. And trust me this is NOT easy
:)
Great video Eric. Club face will always be king but right elbow may be queen!
Thanks! I like that!
By far the best instructional videos on CZcams. That said this feels like TMI to conscously incorporate into the golf swing. Why? Because there just isn't time to incorporate these kind of nuances into the swing by most players. For me, the videos that explain proper take away, importance of getting club on plane and then how to start the downswing correctly with proper tempo are critical parts of making a proper golf swing. After that it all just happens since there is no time to think about these kind of things unless the aforementioned is engrained from intense repetition over a long time. Just an observation although I understand the purpose of the video.
Just swing the club with your trail arm only, and do it in front of a mirror. That will give you an instant visual.
And just rehearse it a few times a week (for 90 days :)) to get the "feel" down cold. Every little bit helps.
Thanks Terry! I hear ya and good feedback! I'm always trying to walk the fine line between giving SOME but not TOO much info. Work in progress!
I for one am here for the in depth detail, not sure why the takeaway of this, or any instruction, would be that you ought to incorporate all details consciously into your swing.
Great lesson!! Are you in PA for the summer?
Thank you! Yes June-Sept

Do you have any individual sessions or clinics available?
Possibly later in the summer! Email us at service@cogornogolf.com to be put on the waiting list👊
This makes sense. To get the shaft lean, ur hands and that trial elbow pit needs to lead.
Yes!!
Always good instructions, but if you have a good basic swing dosent this happen naturally?
Hopefully! But if it doesn't, then YOU need to MAKE it happen :)
@Eric I get the shaft lean part of this. However, it seems like the longer the club, the more hooking creeps in. Should I back off on the shaft lean for fairway woods or is some other issue creeping in?
Longer clubs produce more side spin resulting in more curve. Shorter clubs have more loft resulting in more under spin and less curve. Forward shaft lean is preferable with every club.
@treetoppa8388 but less forward lean as the club gets longer due to ball position being more forward, correct?
@@jradak7541 100%!
@@jradak7541yes indeed
Try shifting your weight forward on the downswing. Should help compress the ball earlier in the follow through. Helped me eliminate my hooks and pulls.
8:57. I the handle actually over the lead leg? If you get in impact position, then take out the rotation, would the handle be at the lead leg?
Hey! Good one....it would still be MORE forward than at setup (with no body) and then even more forward (inside left leg) WITH body
@@CogornoGolf I once saw one of the 3D modeling golf channels say impact happens on the trail side. I know before I had a misconception of swinging my arms too much towards the target if that makes sense.
i was doing this 16 years ago and i keep
my ball on the left but very far ... i guess
i am concern of striaghter ball so i change.
now when i hit sometimes i go back to this process,.
Good place to come back to!!
Is this good for driver too?
If you like to hit down on your driver, then sure. But if you like to hit up on it, then no. You want to release the club a lot earlier with the driver.
@@brianschultz7320rubbish. You do this trail arm move exactly the same way with the driver. The driver difference is your ball setup position and weight shift cadence.
@@TML34 Agreed.
Hey James! There are certainly differences with driver vs iron......but in terms of the FEELS of the trail elbow that you can FEEL and semi-control in the swing........this will be about the same.
This move is what Pete Cowan calls “spinning” your right hand through impact.
I like that! Everyone needs SOME of that spinning (trail forearm pronation). More with weaker grip/more open face coming down.....less with stronger grip/more closed face coming down
If there is a secret in golf, this is it. If you do this correctly and get the trail arm where it should be, all you have to do is rotate the arms just a little just before impact, and you've got it!
Hey Charlie! Agreed its a biggie!!
Come on . Maybe a complete beginner would have his elbow back like that. Nothing new here.
Hmm... it's almost like the people looking for instructional videos on CZcams might be exactly that.....
@@mnnpr4Most are complete beginners ? My mistake.
Hey Pete! All good---thanks for watching and the feedback!
“SPIN IT DOWN!” 👨🦰
Yep!!
From club parallel to impact - - - - - thumbs down.
