I am with Rammstein from the beginning, but it seems I am not the oldest :)
Many people don't like this, but I love it especially as the whole package with the video. Though it does make a lot more sense if you actually know the German TV and "Schlager"Music landscape (which is almost exclusively made by, for, and to a large degree, with old people).
Plastic-Fantastic ONLY 'murica?
I talked about it with my brother yesterday and I think the biggest issue we had with the latest rammstein outputs, the last album as well, was that Tills lyrics became a lot less subtle but bolder and also the topics they sing about don't have this super dark mysterious flair anymore. Not that they didn't have such songs before (Amerika is very simple lyricwise) but it feels like Age kind of took a toll on his ability to write clever lyrics. he's still perfectly able to write poetic lyrics like Tattoo or Diamant but it's lacking the stuff mentioned earlier.
@@ZetsubouZolo They don't have this much songs which have very deep lyrics. Most of their songs are about human nature and it's many faces. Especially things like sex, rape, incest, BDSM. And others are just about certain feelings like sorrow, greed, hate, love and such. I would say they try to criticize our society with their music. And this song is just doing that. And I like it.

@@Tr0cheus I never said the topics are complicated but the way till describes and paraphrases it and tells it from a very twisted first person POV. for example Heirate mich or Liebe ist für alle da does it very nice talking about necrophilia or rape. then take "Zeig Dich" which is just rehashing the same ol reasons why the church is bad and it's kind of in your face. at least that's how I feel about early and modern rammstein. For this track for example Till simply describes what modifications people get for their body but I could imagine that early rammstein would have basically got more into why people do it and speak from the perspective of a deeply troubled, deranged person with body dysmorphia.
And yes Lindemann is great
@Necramonium A lot was probably too exeggerated, but there is a noticable portion. There are of course the usual "it's not like they did it before, so i don't like it" people, but they are allways there. But there are those who don't like this piece stilistically, and while they are not wrong, i think it lends itself very well to this particular work, dspecially with the video.

The first song "Zeit" was about, well, time and that you cannot stop it. Transience. This song has the same theme just from another perspective and a more satirical way of storytelling. In fact Till sings "Tick Tack Tick Tack, your time's running out". Would be awesome if the whole album "Zeit" has this frame.

I cant help but when i see Till Lindemann in this video, than the picture of Mickey Rourke pops in my mind.
Small info about the video. All members play a well-known person who have something to do with beauty surgery. For example, David Hasselhoff (drummer) or Harald Glööckler (left guitarist). He is a German fashion designer. Bogdanoff brothers are also there.

@radio 82 Well nice, you been the first person that seen this also, where I read or hear it. At the first moment I recognized Harald Glööckler. I think there is also Ozzy Osborne, he's personifed by the guy who looks into mirror. The other ppl I was not sure which these guys are, but I know I seen them before and that they are celebrities, I thought maybe Siegfried and Roy.

Don't read too much into the "last album" rumours. They've circulated since Mutter was released and there was the track called Adios on it. Your cat lady reference made me smile, I made the same connection as well. Song and video are outrageous, brutal, heavy and 100% Rammstein. Great concept for the video, brilliantly acted by the band, cutting social commentary on current social trends as well. Makes me wonder what the heck some 20 somethings are going to look like in 40 years! Completely over the top and absolutely what you can expect from Rammstein. Loved the half-baked Till hammer as well especially the "oh, I can be doing with this" ending. Loved your reaction guys, thank you.

Zick Zack is the sound of scissors cutting off too much skin....reminds me of an old joke of that woman who wanted to reduce the enormousy of her lower/under lips but didn't want anybody to know this and asked for the plastic surgery doctor for some privacy concerning her problem.
When the operation was completed the doctor pulled away the curtain around her bed and asked how she felt about her new 'look'. She examined her vagoogle and whispered to the doctor she was very satisfied with the result. They spoke softly to each other about the procedure and it's outcome.
When the doctor stood aside a little bit, to make his way to the door, the woman saw a man from the room across the hall waving at her wearing a big smile. The woman asked the doctor 'who is that?' The doctor responded with 'that's a patient who came out of a car accident and had tremendous burn wounds. Thanks to you we could reconstruct for him a fine set of new ears.'

I never heard zick zack as the sound of scissors. IIt is actually schnipp schnapp. Zick zack is a pattern you could cut with scissors or a knife.

Especially with Rammstein who play around with words, double meanings and German phrases that can't be translated well.

One of Rammstein's most disturbing visuals and a great song. It's been said Rammstein has the best mix of any metal band ever. I tend to agree. You guys need to do Keine Lust if you haven't already. It's a similar theme, also with great makeup.

Yepp, the whole band (again, as is done so often, with the exception of Flake) is somehow 'disfigured' by plastic surgery.
Their 'characters' seem to be inspired by some more or less well known VIP.
Flake being the plastic surgeon in the best tradition of the mad scientist doing weird experiments in very unsanitary locations under questionable circumstances.
Yepp, Siegfried and Roy were definitely two of the inspirations for the band member's looks. Another one is a very well known (in Germany) self-styled fashion icon called Harald Glööckler. The last could be an inspiration from either David Hasselhoff, or another socialite.
Till being Till he created his own character from whole cloth for this video so it is original (AFAIK).
Zick Zack: meaning depends on circumstances, but in this conotation yes, it might mean snip-snip.

The translation of the lyrics was pretty poor - try educated marine’s CZcams channel, the translations are very well done and are in CC’s along with the songs for a lot of their videos and live performances.

Honestly I like the old stuff a lot more than the new stuff that they have released. But I do love their style of riffs and that they can still have those riffs sound the same but different at the same time! I've been into them since I was 9... my parents did NOT like that 😂
This album was created because Rammstein were bored when their tours got cancelled, which means they didn't even plan to make this album, so I doubt it's the last one, but yeah the song titles and themes really do point in that direction when I first read them.
Now i understand anyone who says you can`t listen to rammstein just as music, like any other song, running in the background. And yeah, they are repetetive. But at this point they`ve pretty much shifted from being a band to being a...well, idk a group who makes high budget music videos ^^ And it works for what it is.
Would i listen to this a just as music ? No !
Do i think this is a great video with badass music ? Yes !
