This is a tale of the legendary brigand Koudejar. Ruthless and bloodthirsty as he was ("spilling the blood of many an honest Christian"), his conscience was awakened by God. So Koudejar abandoned his brothers in crime and joined a monastery to serve God and people.
I didn’t expect any of it. I was so blown away by this that I’m blown away by the fact that anyone could be as blown away as I was just blown away right now. It blows my mind. It kind of felt like one of those incredible moments in sports when someone does something so incredibly insane that it never should have worked but it was pulled off like it can only be pulled off once in a decade and everyone is looking at each other, amazed, bewildered and pulling their own hair in the unbearable glory of the moment, but better because it just healed me back from the dead at the same time.
You can tell he's a true bass because his C4 sounds like a high note for him. It's a somewhat high note for baritones as well, but not to quite as much of an extent. It doesn't sound nearly as climatic when a baritone sings a C4 as when a baritone sings a G4 at the climax of an operatic aria or when a tenor sings a Bb4.
We only discovered Vladimer Pasjukov recently. He had the most beautiful and astounding voice. It is almost impossible to believe that this magnificent sound comes from a human being! We are hoping that there are Cd's and Dvd's available of his singing.

The Russians got the Christian Religion - Orthodox creed - In the 10th century from the totally Hellenized Eastern Roman Empire (Byzantium). So, Russian church music very much resembles Greek church music. However, they developed and bettered it, especially the choir music and of course they introduced the octavists. Devine voices and compositions!
