    I successfully swung through the monkey bars yesterday at the Spartan Sprint in Vermont :), great video. But it was evident that I lacked the upper body strength to do better.

    I love how you say after 14 chin ups my arms will start to be fire. Try 0-1 chin-ups lol

    I’m going to incorporate this into my training for my next Spartan Race (will be my 4th this year): the 2022 Fenway Standion.
    I might just finally get them this year after not for the last 3 Trifecta races.
    I’ve got one more chance in November at Fenway.
    If I follow your recommendations, I might just get it finally!

    Awesome video! Been gearing up for my first series of Sparan Races for 2016. Thanks for the tips on keeping those legs moving with the swings.

      I'm thinking of doing the Spartan Race too, but I do not think I'll do it in 2016 - maybe 2017 or 2018.
      Either way, good luck with the training mate ;)

    My problem is that the bar with the race is like 4 times the size of the steel I train with

      Had the same issue. Thought I was really well prepared for the monkey bars, but mine was sort of a well-centered dead-hang approach. Needless to say, the bars were way too thick and ended up being much more taxing on my forearms and hands, which is exactly what my approach was supposed to avoid...

    hi ! Great video, but in the circuit part 2 you say to do chin-up sevens, but ...aren't u doing Pull-ups and not chin-ups ? ?

    Thanks for video! I'm getting ready to train for a Tough Mudder event and need to train on the monkey bars. Wow does it HURT my hands - even with gloves. My hands are getting more calloused and I'm getting stronger & faster though :)

      Do it without gloves. Don't avoid the pain, embrace it and thank me later

    Russian twists cause back and spine issues. Should avoid these at all cost, and find something that puts less pressure on your spine while still activating your core.

    Bro if you can do pull ups, you can do monkey bars.

    As a huge bulky guy, I tried using monkey bars and it hurt my shoulder joints so bad. Maybe this isn't for huge guys like strongmen or power lifters.

      Agreed, monkey bars and pull ups, are for leaner individuals.
