Please petition for a beginner to expert BRETONNIA episode so I can have an excuse to consume 200 hours of Bretonnia novels
You have my sword, my lance and my pegasus my liege, I shall gladly assist in this endavour!
Force collin to be on it
DO IT
No such thing will happen you won’t fall to the temptation of the horse fuckers
I don't think there is 200 hours of bretonian novels
I just understood a thing : The reason Colin hates Bretonnia is because they received attention from a Elf, while he never received any. He is jealous!
"It's not fair! I've donated thousands to her OnlyElfs and not once has she acknowledged so much as my existance, but some douchebag knights get lost in her neck of the woods and she lets them drink her bathwather like it's no big deal! Godess of purity my ass! I bet noble bloodlines are the only things she cares about being pure. Smh!"
- Peasant-cel Colin, probably
This reads like a Donald Trump tweet
Colin sitting this out cause he loves bretonnia so much he would make it a 127 hour video
We need this!
"I was there the day Collin abandoned them, fallen to hatred, this shall be marked into the Great book of Lorecrimes for eternity."
Bretonnia is so cool, I wish the French were real
What a horrible thing to say!
Did they have to muzzle Colin during the recording? Even from states (or possibly continents) away I am sure his utter loathing and hatred of Bretonnia would have been audible otherwise.
You need to make an episode on all the major defeats of the Eldar in 40k and the elves in fantasy... With Colin as the narrator
Im pretty sure that’s legally considered torture
Pancreas is just seething in the corner for the entirety of the video
its great too lol
pancreas just coming in and absolutely taking a giant steaming shit on them
best opening ever lol
Sad for no Pancreas to bully, but important to publish now
It's finally happening! Sadly no Colin to endlessly bully during the recording but any talks about the fantasy race known as the french is awesome in my eyes
To endlessly during the recording indeed
@@Pragabond lol, it was meant to say endlessly bully but I forgot to add that while typing haha
As an act of vengeance, Colin should be legally allowed to make a lore video here on Halo. Or maybe the Xeelee Sequence.
I second the xelee sequence.
No
Gotta say, most of colin's hatred for brettonia sounds more and more like skill issues :3
Imagine being an elf spearwall simp yet cant counter cav
Hoe's mad Peasent's mad
Jk: much love to you guys loce hearing you guys talk about fantasy and brettoin horse lords
The more I learn about Bretonnia lore during earlier editions, the more I realize that they had so much missed potential.
Bretonnia doesn’t deserve a fan like Colin. Bro is enamored with them.
finally an entire video of hate to bretonia
I think Eli should've come into the warpspawn known as colin for sullying the name of bretonnia.
Eli: "You foul monster, go back to the realm of horny jail where you belong."
Colin: "I shall have my vengeance.:
AWWW YEA BABY
THE FACTION THAT BROUGHT BACK FANTASY BBY
I love Arthurian legend, so Bretonnia are definitely my favorite faction. Second is Cathay, this is a fantastic video.
Louen my beloved.
Remember that the lady of the lake is not Lileath but Ladrielle and Ladrielle is also not Lileath, she was one of the elven god besides Isha and Kurnous that disobeyed Asuryan's order to not directly interact with the elven worshippers. But Ladrielle saw something special about the these bretoni something that the elves couldn't achieve in her view, like to the point when Orion, the motherfucking demigod of Kurnous rampaging the lands of bretonnia. When he arrives to one of the city, the Lady (Ladrielle) shows up and whisper something to Orion in which Orion running back to athel Loren and commiting suicide. Elven goddess sided with human! That's cool
Wasn't it confirmed in the end times that Lileath was the Lady of the lake. And the only reason she chose humans was because she was denied being able to make her own mortal race?
@@rogaldorn3643 in many iterations of Warhammer fantasy literature, Ladrielle is the strong candidate for being the lady of the lake. Only in the 8th edition and End Cucks that Lileath was revealed to be the lady. It was a part of author laziness not to check old bretonnia literature.
Lileath attuned with Azyr
(Dreams, prophecy, and foresight)
Ladrielle attuned with Ulgu
(Wander lust, justice, and looking at something that no one knows)
Pancreas absolutely malds upon hearing that an elven goddess chose Bretonnians over the elves
@@rogaldorn3643Lileath in the End Times was both Lileath and Ladrielle. Lileath was in Mortal form and she was a combination of both.
@@thegreatbookofgrudges6953But they didn't when Lileath is revealed she calls herself both Lileath and Ladrielle.
Gotta say that eli characters looks pretty cool and comfy at the side of the bonfire
Colin is just jealous that someone is an even bigger elf simp than him
What you just said is impossible no one simps harder for elves than Colin you would have to rewrite every single law of the universe for that to happen and even then Colin might just grow more powerful in his quest to simp for elves
@@Battlechicken12 His simping is so strong, that Slannesh is unable to take him despite how much of a simp he is, for that will get in the way of elf simping
Yes the only thing as strong as his desire to sumo for elves is our mutual hatred of Brettonia
As a longtime viewer, i DEMAND a remake of this video voiced by colin alone!
The Bretonnian Omnibus is very much worth the read
Okay everyone, now we just have to make sure Eli can do an expert brettonia video, possibly with the cody bonds vs pancreasnowork jousting
Games Workshop where such trolls. Making the French honourable holy nights.
Well, France was the center of Chivalry.
I mean, there was that one guy in Toll slayer who seemed like an alright chap, then again that may only be because they're dead
I love the art you guys use for your videos. It is so beautiful and captures each of your guys personalities and interests.
Oh the glory this will be
Thank God this won't be just Collin saying that he hates Bretonnia for arbitrary reasons like he's done a thousand times before.
yeah......at somepoint you realize many the reasons why collin 'hates' Bretonnia is just for dumb reasons that you can easily pick apart
It’s not arbitrary it’s facts bretonnia sucks
@@Battlechicken12 bretonnia is personally my forth favorite fantasy faction
@arch-warlock7409 Bretonnia should be last on your list of warhammer factions and characters including the man let #endtimes bretonnia again
@@Battlechicken12You're acting like a child
As an armored combat nerd who’s making his own early 15th century armor I say: L bozo get Calvary charged. You have gunpowder and still get got. Also Grail knight is the best career for Kruber
I don't know if they're gonna add new books to Fantasy, but I would appreciate seeing a party of 4-5 adventurers of the "good" faction and one of them being a questing knight trying to stay honourable in spite of the world and his companions. I know we technically have the "Ubersreik 5" and Kruber, but i kinda want a slightly more "traditional" knight, so we can kinda flesh out more of Bretonnia.
Loremaster of Sotekh and Mr. Andy Law of Lawhammer recently did an episode of the Lorebeards podcast covering Lady of the Lake and her relationship with Bretonnia.
They go on about it at length, but the general consensus between the two is before the End Times, the Lady of Lake is actually Ladrielle and the End Times is a poorly written mess that is being walked back anyways with the coming release of the Old World.
As for Ladrielle's supposed characterization as The Lady of the Lake? Again, the two of them delve into it in more detail, but the long and short of it is that Ladrielle came to the Bretonnians because the Wood Elves weren't doing a good enough job and were in danger of losing Athel Loren to a bunch of Greenskins, so she chose the Bretonnians as her champions and turned some of them into the demigod Grail Knights to pick up the Wood Elves' slack and wage war against anything Chaos or Chaos-adjacent. They went farther along saying that a lot of the Bretonnians problems are a result of their own poor decisions in isolating themselves from Sigmar and the Empire, and their narrow interpretation of chivalry and the responsibilities of the peasantry and the nobility, which prevents them from making significant technological advances or, you know, using ranged weapons or tactics that are deemed 'dishonorable' in their view.
To clarify, the Lady didn't declare ranged weapons dishonorable; the Bretonnians did that because Gilles Le Bretonn kept getting mortally wounded by ranged attacks and they were salty about it, so they declared attacking from range to be cowardly and dishonorable, and they've kept the tradition because crossbows and firearms are ALSO a threat to the nobility.
Morons, am I right?
I loved that episode. Legitimately took the Lady from a controversial figure to being my favorite character in warhammer.
Also the reason Bretonnians don’t use guns and crossbows is so the Empire can feel like they’re good at something ;)
Swords and lances are cool, alright?
There’s something fun i noticed about Repanse. While there are many changes in Warhammer that are based on real life characters, Repanse might be the only one who had a fate better than Jean d‘Arc, which is impressive when you consider what kind of world Warhammer is
I was expecting a full 2h of Colin hate-"explaining" Bretonnia, but having Eli doing the talk without the vitriol is nice too.
I wonder if they'll have to gag Colin for this one 😂
If you listen closely you can hear Colin cursing everyone who’s ever liked bretonnia
This is completely unrelated, but I just realized that Purple Orks are actually a thing. They’re in the War Hammer novel “The Rose at War.” I thought they were a joke, but they’re real.
I half expected to see Colin seething in the comments. Maybe I am just here too early
oh goodie a whole faction with a foot festish
I know she’s not much of a character in Lore but the other good Bretonnian is Repanse De Lyonnese, like yeah she’s just Joan of Arc
But She was cool, and by extension that makes Repanse cool
She’s the only one in Bretonnia who actually cares about the peasants after being one so she’s the only person in the country whose people are actually devoted to her.
Not to mention the time she saved the entire country on the back of a giant ass horse from a chaos invasion
Plenty of nobels care about peasants genuinely, not just repanse
This is a complement to the video.
1) The timeline is more or less like this, while the bases were already there when the empire was being formed, you know the knights and their status, the territories and the people, among other things, everything about Gilles and the lady was in 977 imperial calendar means almost a thousand years since its founding
2) Regarding firearms, well, the commoners who use relatively primitive ranged weapons have a loophole for them and they are not allowed to use them on land but their navy, which they do have, is not technically on their land meaning that their ships have firearms without problems now this is old lore so they can rewrite it later but as far as I know this remains canon.
3)This is a character from the first editions, so obviously discontinued, but there is a guy called Bertrand the brigand and his band of bowmen of bergerac who are literally robin and his band of merry men, just one more curiosity.
4) Being in parallel with the launch of old world with bretonnia on the cover they will launch a new book called Lords of the Lance while I write this it has not been released as such but the author is Graham McNeill so at least it has a seal of quality
I love bretonnia!
Wheres Pancreas?
Two things
One, you would think that with bretonia simping for elves he would at least damper his hate and second as and elf simp myself, i love that elf simping is canon
Colin REALLY LOVES BRETONNIA
Bretonia is knights of the round table even the green knight comes the old king Arthur stories.
About the historic parallel: archery was around since practically forever. The english longbow was special because it had such a draw weight that it could kill a knight at a rather long distance. It did require a lot of training, though, so the societal impact was low. The whole english strategy with barricades, pikes and longbows did prove very efficient in the 100 uear war, but what really was a blow to the french chevaliers was the rising prominence of mercenaries. The unchivalrous weapon that changed the power balance in most of Europe long before that was the crossbow. Crossbows were lethal, but could be used by everyone after a bit of training, which set them aside from bows.
thanks
I sent Pancreas a pic of a Bretonnia Codex i just found in a 2nd hand bool store.
Would love to hear you do an episode on Warhammer's most competent Everchosen, Archeon
Please tell me there’s a TF2 Spy reference somewhere.
I'd love to hear lore like this about Vampires.
51:23 they become sons of bretonnia, kelpie riders that use tridents and spear with magical prowess
1:10:36 right?!
1:33:22 the book called : guardians of the realm
This is the first video I've seen of ours. I would like to say that the intro rant probably isn't the best way to get people to watch your videos. Personally, I clicked on this because I'm interested in this faction. It's kind of off-putting to hear someone just ranting about how horrible they are. Just a thought. I enjoyed the rest of the video. Keep up the good work
Will you guys ever do a Everchoosen lore video? Learning about him and he cool!
@Lorecrime I have a question what are your thoughts on Warcraft series or StarCraft series?
Pancreas is right about bretonia fans, i love bretonia and i do have wet dreams about horses and mares
Colin just dislikes being out simped for elves
That’s physically impossible
I've often said that GW should just buy the Bionicle IP from LEGO and just run with it. They could do all sorts of fun Necron stuff.
I don’t know why bretonnia doesn’t have firearms. Early firearms like the arquebus and hand cannon would’ve existed during the 14th century, which seems to be the period bretonnia is in. It would be a great way to repel attacks against staked-in longbow units at close range while the Calvary does the real damage
Because they sodomize their own horses
They deem ranged weapons dishonorable, it is also a way for the Nobelty to lower the chance of a disgruntled peasant with a gun to get them
Huzzah
Holy shit
"One must think {Colin} happy"
It would be nice to talk about the greenskins or the ogers.
HUZZAH!
Now what I'm most thinking about is the overlap between Bionicle fans and Warhammer fans. The more I think about it, the more sense it makes to me. I'd actually really like to see some numbers on that!
Also CCBS Space Marines... and Necrons. Imagine something like the General Grievous constraction set but with a Necron, I want that so bad. Actually you could probably make that pretty well with a lot of Grievous and random Hero Factory parts. Sadly I've never been good at collecting bits so can't attempt anything of the sort myself.
Aww man, I was under the impression that Bretonnia fell to the Skaven in the End Times, and was going to make a joke that the lecture would be nice and easy to digest... just like they were. But a search tells me it was actually Nurgle. Shame. Though perhaps the garden spawned giant Horse Flies. Okay, that's my one for the video, I'll be positive from here~
My headcanon for the numbers is that maybe 10-25% of the peasants are "Somewhat better" than normal Empire citizens. The middle 50% are "Somewhat worse" and the lower 25% fall into the "Well, at least it's not the Under-Empire" tier. I am literally pulling those answers out of nowhere though. I'd actually really love to compare it with Sylvania personally. As I always get the vibe that Sylvania is pretty nice besides the Blood Tax, that could be a fun debate.
I like to think that when the duke burned his own city, the Skaven that witnessed were stunned to realize that the Man-Things had discovered superior Skaven tactics.
It's actually really weird to me that they didn't use the whole thing about all the male mages taken by the Fay Enchantress during the End Times. Since it established that she'd secretly been prepping Haven for them, so I assumed she took them there to help with that. But everything I can find just says that it was populated with every Grail Knight who fell and was revived there. So I'm just going to say they were all working on that.
Yeah... when I heard the phrase "Call to war" I instinctively saw a Bretonnian noble in his full regalia stepping atop a tower and shouting "Waaaaaaagh!" and I don't know how to feel.
Pro-Strat: If you accidentally step on a flower in that part of Athel Loren, immediately shoot the nearest animal. That way the wood elves will want to kill you for disturbing nature, and the lord will want to kill you for poaching. Maybe you'll be able to get away while they argue over who has dibs.
One more thing about the freedom of travel. It's mentioned in 6th edition at least (I just did a quick skim) that many peasants become fanatical followers/servants to questing knights. And they seem to have the freedom to do so and (along with stealing everything including the body should he fall) they actually do apparently receive some form of grace from The Lady. I'm not sure what that entails (besides absolving you for past crimes at the very least), but it does at least seem to be another option that peasants have. If one that tends to really annoy said knights.
Yeah, I am already loving Brionne, definitely have to see if there's more lore on them. ...my first faction was Emperor's Children, of course I'm going to love Brionne! Also one of my favorite starter Pokemon.
The more you talk about bretonnia the more i agree with colen.
I wonder if you can fix them in my personal opinion. I think they should have been written like numenoreans from lord of the rings. If you wanna hear Crazy? Lord from Lord of the rings Then read the lor books. I didn't remember what it was called, but it was about the first age and it was pretty crazy.
I'm pretty sure Bordeleaux is supposed to be pronounced "bordello". Because Warhammer is/was written by mature and serious people.
Longest post credit ever

As much as I think Colin goes a bit overboard with his hatred of Bretonnia, it’s not a good look when you have to bring in Mr. “Four-armed emperor is real emperor” “Chaos are the true gigachads” Eli to argue the alternative.
Such thorough Bretonia abuse in the first 60 seconds makes me sad I can only hit the thumbs up once.
Because it was so funny hearing a man child cry over a non-existent faction in a fantasy setting.
It's not charming, it just makes one realize why he likely lives alone IRL.
chaos dwarfs
Little correction at 37:25 Peasants can have gold, and it's common for Merchants within Bretonnia to have gold cutlery and plates and use glass. As the Sumptuary laws forbid Silver from being used by Peasants, so gold can and does get used as it's not in the laws. And Lords will use Silver as they refuse to use what peasants use, even though gold is more valuable.
And little more lore on the Sumptuary laws for those curious. Red, white and blue are the colours the peasants aren't allowed to wear cloth or thread, and the furs of Fox, ermine and squirrels. Peasants are allowed weapons, just not the weapons of Chivalry The Lance and Sword. Also sidenote, gunpowder weapons are not covered so peasants are allowed those as they haven't been banned due to being a fairly recent invention. Peasants may not use stone as a building material as this is reserved for nobility. Women are forbidden from wearing mens clothing, but not vise versa. Clothing is strictly adhered to having specifications for both male and female clothing. Peasants shoes may not be longer than 12 inches and if their feet are larger than this, they must wear sandals. A big thing is their breeches it has to be waist to ankle of undyed cloth with no embroidery, the lords love their breeches. Peasants may not wear armour unless in service of their lord even then Full Plate is strictly forbidden. And in most of these cases a lord can grant exemptions and funny tid bit. Never have and never will grant one for the breeches. Lords also grant exemptions for fun as merchants will makes fools of themselves trying to incorperate the exemption into everything.
Wait, is Collin pancreas?
ive been convinced that they arent the worst 🎉
So are you telling me that bretonia has a killer instinct?
I think Colin hates Bretonnia
yep
Hates not a strong enough word
Now begginer to expert
No no, bretonnia isn't so bad ... then he proceeds to explain how bad it is 😂 I for one agreed with the bretonnia bashing lad at the beginning, that was the best part of the whole video.
Gilles or Giles in french is pronounced how english pronounce Jill
I hate Bretonnia because Louencour fucking heals faster than I can damage him in total war.
Elf lover is mad his goddess likes brets better than elves.
There is no bigger insult, as good English man myself, than a French king Arthur followed by poorly trained archer peasants. If the peasants were as well trained as the real life English archers there wouldn't be an athel loren, orcs, vampire counts in sylvania or beastman and the empire would start mass producing long rifles just to keep the peasants at bay.
Before this video i thought "yeah bretonia somewhat sucks" , but now i know why exactly bretonia sucks. Thanks
Got it. French knights roided out on chivalry and elf goddess bathwater. Peasant girl bathwater is rare, and usually brown with months of accumulated dirt.
Oh come on, can we at least get a Colin reaction video??? It's what at least 4-5 of your most lowbrow viewers want 🥺
Oh don't you worry, he's in the video
I was not disappointed 😂

Is it just me or does the Remembrencer sound like Jon Richardson from 8 outta 10 Cats.
very salty first four minutes that almost makes you salty to all Empire fans
This video did convince me that Bretonnia is more interesting than I thought. Still don't like em though.
Bretonnia is like the Nintendo of Warhammer. They are morally horrible, but unlike everyone else, they pretend they are not.
The worst faction inspired by a knife-ear checks out.
Yup…still don’t like Bretonnia. Think I dislike them more now that I think about it.
