Garry Moore deserves a lot of credit for helping start the career of Carol Burnett. I loved watching Garry Moore.
When life was fun, we were all safe and we could laugh!
Yes! Without being offended by everything!!
@@wc5436 oh my lord shut up already!
@@wc5436 AGREED!
well then came vietnam
We were all safe, huh?🙄
I'm glad there are so many persons who love the Carol Burnett show as much as i always have. Even in her lusty moments she was good family entertainment.
I wish they'd show the full shows now. They always cut the variety acts, the singing and dancing, and most of the Q&A. That was the best part
i always think of my mom when I watch carol burnett i miss her much and watching keeps her alive and laughing always in my heart happy mothers day to all
Don't ever go away Carol. You've always been my favotire.
What she accomplished in "The Princess Sketch" is extraordinary. That kind of performance, the requirements of that are complicated and many.
The performance is highly sophisticated. I think Lily Tomlin may be the only other comedienne who could take the material to this level. Carol (and Lily) really is genuinely brilliant.
It was obviously written to challenge her, and showcase her talents. And did it ever!
Carol Forever! ❤
Catherine O'Hara did a similar piece in the 'Wine and and Roses' episode of the splendid series 'Schitt's Creek'. Highly recommend it, if you haven't seen it.
Lyle and Vicky singing and playing together was such a treat!!!!!
Yes! I really enjoyed them singing their duet of CALL ME
FUN FACT:…it was Garry Moore who gave Carol Burnett her first big break in television…for 5 seasons beginning in 1957, she appeared regularly on The Garry Moore Show along with Durward Kirby…so awesome to see the three of them together again on Carol’s program
That is such beautiful jewelry Carol wears as Princess Marianne!!
The sketch with Carol and Durward was originally done on the Garry Moore Show - I'm so glad they reprised it!
The Bob Mackie fashions were just as much a treat as the funny skits of which made for a one of a kind comedy show that will never be forgotten.
Loved the duo of Lyle and Vicky. Didn't know they actually played guitar. I can tell because I play guitar myself. Also the dance of Don Critchton was excellent. 😍
Carol always had something new to wear at her opening....
Everything she wore had pockets.
BOB MACKIE DESIGNED HER…and, Cher! ♥️
She told Bob that every outfit must have pockets for her hands…She didn’t always know where to put them.
Love Her!
🤍
@@SisuGirl
Yep 👍
Love Carol Burnet!😂😍 My favorite!
Awesome find!🤣😂🤗
Some of her earlier outfits did not at all look like Bob Mackie designs. Which as time went on they became
works of art. To what we all know are what BOB MACKIE is all about.
The drunk scene with Garry Moore and the office sketch with Durward Kirby are recreations of sketches that were originally done on The Garry Moore Show. I remember seeing these sketches on The Garry Moore Show, as they were two of the funniest and most memorable ones that were done on that show. It is great to see Caroll Burnett, Durward Kirt-by, and Garry Moore together again and performing routines they had previously done.
Love how she kept her pose as the elder lady
The dress Carol has on at the end of show is so pretty, and so many of her clothes were, also one of a kind. I love the stars & hosts of the old game shows,& the variety shows like Garry Moore, George Gobel, etc!! Pure classic, talented!!
There was a music strike when the episode was taped, so the singers, arranged by George Becker, performed Joe Hamilton's full lyrics for her theme music.
They should've just kept the singers and ditched the band!
@@TwiZoneInc Well, only on days if someone retired or someone beloved passed away or the last sketch ended on a downer note.
When life was good, and people conducted their lives AS IF they had morals, humor was basically clean, rarely were children born out of wedlock (because it was a disgrace and spoke poorly of YOUR morals). More people went to church than not, and most households were two-parent house holds. People looked outside themselves more, rather than being completely self-absorbed! Gasoline was thirty-three cents ($.33) per GALLON, and for $25 you could purchase a week's worth of groceries for a family of four. I know because I saw my mom do it every week! And we had nice meals made with quality food. We didn't have to eat "on the cheap", because $25 bought quality food. And the MUSIC was WONDERFUL ALL of the time! Such talented artists! And Casey Casem kept us goin' and up to date on the week's Billboard Hot 100s every weekend on the radio on Saturday night! What a joy!!
Life was better then. I would gladly trade in my cellphone, my laptop & printer, fax, scanner, copier, and the INTERNET & social media to have it ALL back.
I never knew Lyle had such a musical gift!
The safety skit was beyond hilarious!
At the 14 minute mark sounds exactly like today and this is what 55-60 yrs later
Love that Lego-style background.
Oh, at long last; I have this episode on DVD, but I've been waiting so long to see it uploaded here so I can show my friends the reunion of three absolute legends of the television screen.
And you know how close she is to Garry and Durward because, TO my knowledge, they're the only guests she's only called by their first names.
I think you're right, except I have seen 2 episodes w/Lucille Ball and she referred to her simply as 'Lucy' --both times I think.......
SK in USA (NC)
@@SK-jt1kp Yes, that's quite true. Now that you mention it, I do recall her saying "Lucy" almost every time instead of "Lucille Ball". :)
Are all of the shows that have been posted on CZcams available on DVD? I was wondering if they are simply posting the DVD shows and we are still not seeing any unreleased shows
@@shyman99 I wonder that myself, actually, given I own a LOT of Carol Burnett DVDs (4 of the 6-disc sets, 3 of the single-disc sets, and Show Stoppers), but I know I am FAR from owning them all, so I use this channel to watch the ones I don't have on hand usually.
She started her career as a regular on Garry's show before she began her own show. It must have been quite a honor for her, to have the same man who used to be her boss as a guest star on her show.
There was an episode of "Mary Tyler Moore" where Phyllis says, "Getting Sir Laurence Olivier to do those commercials was a waste of money...they could've saved a fortune and gotten Durward Kirby!" Oddly enough, Sir Laurence did appear on the Burnett Show at least once in the studio audience. Harvey had one of his dreadful mess-ups and the camera caught Olivier's reaction to it...hilarious.
Such a treat!! Thank you!!
watching this show as a child with my older sister. Popcorn, chocolate milk,..ahhh the memories
What a cute dress and her hair is so cute. The dress compliments the dress.❤
That dance at the end was absolutely beautiful 🤩. And I don’t even care much for that
Very well done love you carroll Burnett ,live was better back then .
🤣🤣🤣👍que buena!!!
I loved the accident sketch 😂😂😂it reminded me of a moment in the Dick Van Dyke Show episode, “the return of Happy Spangler”. Slapstick is the best 😂😂
Carol made a point in the Q&A about being beautiful - if you're too pretty, you can not do comedy. Luckily, Carol always looked great but she could not have done that show if she were drop-dead gorgeous and I think most comedians would concur. Tim was the same, as was Vicki. Harvey was tall, dark and handsome but by the time he did the Burnett Show he was already 40.
Yes the best of chums..Julie and Carol..great movie..I did recognize Don!!
Great moves!!!
That looks like Vicki Lawrence asking if the show was renewed...!
Excelente 👌
Wow! The lady in the audience who asked if her show was going to be on the next season looked alot like Carol. I'm surprised she didn't notice
Excelent!!!
Excelente... 👏👏👏👍👍👍
Totally curious episode for many reasons, aside from the choir and the lack of the orchestra and music director Harry Zimmerman, Vicki and Lyle do an excellent job playing guitar and singing. It feels like a last minute addition done incredibly well!
Oh, and again it is NOT Durwood...
Musicians strike. Effected here, Laugh-In *the pre-recorded ep with Nancy Sinatra was aired the very Monday Nixon was sworn in Late Jan '69
Exelente 👏
Oh dear, this was another week when the musicians were still on strike. >:-
❤❤❤❤❤
My mom loved Garry and Durwood.....she thought her dad looked like Durwood.
Sensacional... Muy interesante...
Vicky singing omg help!!!!
Excelente actuación
The real deal. No chance of lyp syncing in those days!
😊🔥👏🏻
Muy graciosos y divertidos
Buena presentación
Good
Ernie Anderson came ever week!

👍👍👍👍
Vickey can sing good
Isabell Sanford…Weezy!
Some of the questions that are asked at the beginning of the show are so rude. I know the plastic surgery question is supposed to be a joke but seriously? I've also seen episodes where audience members became suggestive/innapropriate. Yet Carol was always classy in spite of it. Her responses are always so gracious.
Carol wasn't no Angel herself, though. :P
Some of her responses could get rather lewd.
One audience member in, I think it was actually the pilot or close to, complimented her Mickey Mouse watch, and after thanking the audience member, Carol quipped; "You should see it at 6:30." XD
I think after the multiple tries on the toast video, the princess is getting a little bit tipsy.
😬😬😬
Her dress is neat but I can do without the huge red bow
Times change. This was 1968. Your clothes will look pretty bad in 50 years I'm sure.
I thought of Garry and Durward when the Democrats were accused of drinking on the house floor while voting for Speaker 2023.
Jessica Rabbit? Is that you?
Back at a time when there was TRUE comedy... not all political agenda
Vicki and Lyle....please get rid of those violet getups! Lyle...keep the scarf and lose the guitar.
This wasn't her show. Yuck
Are you on something?
Shoplifting is outrageous!! I twice bought items that were tampered with. One turned out empty, no content in and the other one was used and filthy. There is a follow up... I was too ashamed to return the empty one for I was afraid the workers there who are friendly with me will start to have second thouht about me and it’s the market where I shop most but since the other place whose workers don’t know me I returned the used item which looked nothing like the item on the package and guess what happened.. I was mistreated and been called a liar!!! 🤦🏻♀️ I was never been humiliated like that before. They were idiots but I was so much of a lady to get down to their level. All I said was, « If I was trying to fool you wouldn’t I at least return it back clean? », and the company I was with paid them to close the issue instead of backing me up which upset me so. That company was unfortunately my husband at the time.. not anymore, he isn’t!
👍👍👍👍
