    Sushi is one of those types of cuisine that is actually fairly easy to learn how to do on a basic level, but takes literally decades to become a master. It's all about gut feeling, knowing exactly how thick each cut of fish should be, exactly the right amount of Wasabi and Ginger, and getting the rice absolutely perfect. People think it's easy to make Sushi on this level, and they are very wrong.

    • @NickLiang
      @NickLiang Před 9 lety +27

      Daniel Kim Completely agree. My Uncle is a Sushi Chef and he never lets me forget, Sushi is rice, when he first trained he was required to wash and cook rice for 3 years before he was allowed to touch the fish. The marinade, quality of rice, combination of different grains and technique used to cook the rice is what defines a Sushi chef.

He's a critic so smelling the food before eating it is a sign respect for the cook! It means appreciation! Smell, taste, texture, visual and craftsmanship! All of it!
    If I was the chef and some people eat my food just to satisfy or appease his/her hunger! Then I would be annoyed! If that restaurant prohibits putting elbows in the table and smelling the food! Then that's the restaurant not respecting the customers private space and freedom! To be comfortable while eating good food is a must for the customers!
