- The cast of NBC's comedy mockumentary "Parks and Recreation" visits Google LA to discuss and answer questions about their 2012 new season. Amy Poehler moderates a discussion with her fellow cast members: Aubrey Plaza, Chris Pratt and Adam Scott. This talk took place at Google LA on September 6, 2012.

The fact that Amy calls Aubrey “Plaz-y” makes my heart melt. The whole dynamic between cast mates is absolutely adorable.

Every time it shows the audience I see at least one really confused person that does not get their humor.

I heard he was in talks to play the mayor for quite a while, like a few yrs of trying to figure out the right story.
Either she knew something, or (as I always kind of thought) since the show's origination was born partly from Amy's previous characters and ideas, at least a bit, she maybe had a little more influence over the show than other cast members did? Just me guessing...
It's amazing to see how nervous Chris Pratt is in this video compared to his more recent interviews, especially after Guardians. I feel it really just shows how much he's grown as an actor and even a celebrity in just a short amount of time.
I think at some points to he was acting like Andy, especially when Aubrey was talking
When Chris was talking about how many funny scenes get cut, I would do anything to see those! Think of all the amazing moments we will never get to see!!!
+Karen I think you can get the producer cuts of the show on Hulu actually. I was watching P&R with my friend and noticed there are vastly different scenes between them sometimes compared to the ones broadcasted on TV

The chemistry between Adam and Amy is perfect! Love the handshake, they did on stage. And of course, a few times during the show. That's what, made Ben and Leslie work! When, Aubrey said, Andy's the stupidest and Chris is really smart. I laughed so hard!

Amy's laugh is amazing.
They're very like their characters. Except Chris Pratt isn't dumb, but he's still as goofy and hilarious. Adam just is Ben, Amy is as awesome as Leslie and Aubrey really couldn't give a fuck.
I think she just isn't comfortable in that situation, and didn't really know how to handle it. Amy seemed to be encouraging her and trying to help her along.
I mean, yeah, you're right, but I think April (the character) is the same way. She acts like she doesn't care about anything because often she's uncomfortable in social situations.

well after all, they DID create the character April out of Aubrey herself. The character was even named Aubrey in the initial pilot script they all learned, only to show up on the first day of shooting to see her renamed to April. So whether April is intentionally like that or just, like many actors, always acting in a character she sort of built up through her life, there is a LOT of April born from Aubrey. Aubrey is more than April by far, but April is like a subset of Aubrey, I guess.

@@DonKelleyMusicActually, Aubrey pitched April to them and helped create the character. She spoke about this in an interview. When the show was casting, Aubrey was suggested by a casting director who was intrigued by her funny, unconventional energy and suggested she audition for the show. At the time, Aubrey wasn't looking to be in a sitcom but she went because she was already in LA for a movie she was doing, and as a then fan of The Office she was distracted by meeting at the same place that show was filming. Originally the character was going to be a dumb woman who messed up constantly and wouldn't last long, but when she met the showrunners, Aubrey told them that a better direction was the April you experience in the show. She pitched them the character's position, personality and role in the story, and she based much of April's nature on her sister. Even April's relationship with Andy was Aubrey's idea.

I know! There have to be hours upon hours of footage that never made it on the air! Between deleted scenes, fun runs, and bloopers...one of the creators said in an interview that they end up with something like 75 minutes of film per episode, but only 23 or so minutes actually air. I would love to see every minute of it.

On the first season I was concerned that the show would be kind of a The Office clone, because of the format, but it turned out that Parks And Recs was a really special show. Love the show.

Am I the only one that feels like they could’ve easily given Ron his own show at the end of parks and rec? They even set him up with the perfect job and a supporting cast. He was working as a park ranger with his own crew. Would’ve been gold.

Guys, the four of them are clearly mic'd up, so their voices are obviously going to be much louder than the audience's reaction. The sound for the final video was probably levelled out to make sure their voices weren't too loud, which in turn would quieten the reactions of the audience. Also, I don't know where y'all are looking, but the audience are clearly having a great time.
