Thanks Mike, I worked you as a POTA Activation about two weeks ago and spotted you as: "The man, the myth, the legend" You truly are, you are a great communicator my friend. Charlie N7OMI
I've been using the android version and he's been updating it a good bit. it has been working quite well.
I'm using PoLo for my POTA activations and it works great. Switched from HAMRS and enjoy 😁
Dark mode is something I prefer.
Does it work with no 4g-5g service or wifi? My tablet doesn't have service so I'm curious if you need internet or can you upload later.
Internet is not needed.
@@reallyoldrookie433but you might not get lookups without internet.
Thanks for the link to TestFlight. That’s what I was missing from a different video about POLO.
There was a sad ham on the FB Pota Page who posted a screenshot of you on 14.300 asking how we educate newbies.. hahahaha
I know a couple people sent that to me. Looks like it was taken down before I had a chance to respond to it. Would have been fun.
@@hamradiotube It was quite funny. Some of the comments got me LOLing...
I only came to the comments to see the maritime drama
14.300 is the designated POTA frequency. I see no problem.
Thanks for the shout out. I love this new logger!
Thanks for keeping us up on all the latest. I'm definitely using it on the next activation.
Follow up - Used PoLo yesterday afternoon - works very well during my activation.
Excellent explanation Mike, as always!!! Download it and it’s very nice. Numbers buttons have to be bigger for sure. Other than that I like it!
Nice. I was the southernmost station in FL on that map. Good to finally get ya in the log. Will definitely check this app out. Looks pretty killer!
Thanks for the demo. Looks like a great app.
Great improvements to HAMRS! Switching back and forth to the POTA Website was always such a pain, especially as a QRP'er who sometimes needs to respot himself.
Very cool!! Playing around with it in my office, and so far it works on a Chromebook.
I will have to check this out as an option for portable logging, especially if I ever decide to include playing radio on an over night hike in the Manistee National Forest.
I’ve switched to it from HAMRS because of the lack of support lately. Then right after, HAMRS updated the park list, but I haven’t gone back to it since. I like that it uses Apple Maps vs a generic map. So far so good and it appears to be getting improvements to it almost every day. Send on the keyboard is only available if you’re actually in the callsign/signal report part of the log application.
Thanks. I'll be downloading this app for my next POTA.
I have been using it for a couple of months and it is great.
Thanks for letting me know about the app. This is a potentially better option to using a laptop or paper & pencil. May try it today or this coming week.
Great works Mike, thanks!
Going to be nice! Just tested it. Will use on my next activation.
Wow. Lots of thoughtful features. thanks for the video.
Looks good. I'm looking forward to it.
Now listen to a story about a man named Jed...
I thought the same thing 😂😂
Working great on Android. The nice thing about the Android keyboard is it already has a number keys built into the keyboard.
You got that Texas accent down!
I think its hilarious how you still bust franks ass on breaking your laptop! LOL
Well buddy, I’m in the log!
Porta loger? ... Knew a guy called Kenny who help manage those. Top Bloke.
Kenny is awesome!
Cool thx Mike! Noob question coming- how did you record your phone screen work while making the video?
Does not come up under polo in android ,, had to go ham 2 k portable to find it
Glad you saw my email. You are now on the dark side. Even nicer on an iPad. If you tap on the pin on the map it will give you the qso info. If you worked him on a different band you get that info also. More than one person at the same park? no problem, you get that info also.
Mike, I’d love to see a video about backpacks, bags, and containers you’ve used for POTA. I know I’ve seen you do videos about what is IN your bags and packs, but I’m curious about the bags themselves. Also all manor of straps and boxes. I have a FT-891 that fits in an Osprey sling bag but there’s not much room for anything else. I’d like to see what you’ve tried and what has worked and what has not.

Logger worked great but I’m having a problem exporting the adi.file. It won’t attach to an email. I’ve tried the airdrop, and other ways. The adi.file title sends but the log isn’t there. Any suggestions?
It's about time someone gave HAMRS a run for their money.
Works great on android
This is the first time I'm seeing someone use it on an iphone. It works great on my Pixel and yes the Android version has the number keys right in the native keyboard.
Hey , you didn’t lookup my callsign 😊
Thanks for the demo, interesting indeed. Looks like there's no windows (for laptop) version yet, any intel on that?
I have give you all I know.
@@hamradiotube windows will be coming in a couple of months
Anyone had an issue trying to export log from iPhone? When I try, it says File can’t be attached. Gmail or Yahoo email, won’t work??
I've never tried uploading from my phone but this is the message I get: "Unfortunately, uploading logs is not yet supported on this screen size. To submit logs, please use a higher display resolution. (Hint: Try turning your phone sideways, it just may work.)". Turning my phone did not work. I always airdrop the file to my Mac and then upload it to POTA.
14.300.... LOL Bravo! 7.200 would have been edgier, but it's a demo. I get it.
Hi Mike,
I gave Kyle a suggestion to use a stylus because of his fat fingers. Guess you could use the same suggestion for entering the numbers. 🙂 73 WJ3U
How do we find that POTA app you have?
Will this app allow logging without internet access, say no cell connection?
New vocabulary word for me: "embiggen"
After the beta, is this going to be free or $$? Have you tried on a tablet?
I have no idea about pricing. Embiggen comes from The Simpsons. It is written on Jebediah Springfields statue. "A Noble Spirit Embiggens The Smallest Man." And now you know the rest of the story.
Mike, when I look up your callsign I only get name/location. Where is the YT channel UrL coming from and how to add to your own name?
I have no idea. I just put those call signs in and that’s what happened.
COOL
Does it auto-log from wsjt-x ?
...hope it comes for Windows also.....
I wonder if this will end up as a Mac computer app. Hmmmm?
This has some nice features not in HAMRS. I might give it a try, but I'm so used to HAMRS.
How will Polo work if I’m at a remote park with no, nada internet?
PoLo has offline data for parks and summits, and can use past log info for name lookups
Will this be available for Windows? Thanks for the review. Have a great day.
Eventually yes, in a few months
Marco Polo? Han Polo? Yolo Polo? What the Polo?
Too bad it won’t upload straight from the app to POTA.
Kinda feel bad for HAMRS now that their southern accented golden boy has jumped ship 😂
This might be an ignorant question but how do I get a redeem code?
Nevermind. It was a stupid question. Hahah
Portable logging sounds like a portapotty.
How to I get the Test Flight redeem or invitation code to put in test flight?
Figured it out. Have it downloaded.
Sweet! Glad I could help lol!
are you saying this may replace Hamrs. say it ain't so. Good report and thanks. 73 Vic de KE8JWE
Well I will be looking at it so I don’t have to carry a laptop into the field
Does this flag for Dups?
I'm hoping the database is stable here. I've read too many horror stories of HAMRS losing the activation's database. That sits in the back of my mind whenever I run HAMRS for a POTA activation.
Personally I am not interested in a cell phone app. Too many places I go have no coverage. Give me a Linux app that I can merge later. I want the app to have a huge local database call signsparks and sodas
PoLo downloads parks and sumit databases on your phone, and supports adding all your past QSOs on an ADIF file to use for name and city lookups if not online
Yeah.....I think I'll stick with HAMRS. I don't log on my phone.
That was one of the worst attempts at a Texas accent I’ve heard. From a Texas native.
Who says I was doing a Texas accent?
Nice, new tool for the tool box.
