It's the literal opposite at my field, walked round a corner, guy fired 2 pistol shots, hit the wall and I ran back to cover, ref tells me to call it when me and the guy both heard the rounds hit the wall. "it must have hit your rig". I called it tho cause not toxic

my rule of thumb with dead man walking is if I know an enemy is right around the corner I'll lightly tap the cover and say as low as possible "Dead man crossing" or something similar

Generally the bang rule in airsoft is for if you're engaging someone at a distance within 5 meters and don't have a CQB weapon (i.e a pistol) Trying to repeatedly call bang kills against someone who is well outside of the 5 meter minimum engagement distance is a high road to making the entire field hate you
To me, there's three kinds of airsofter: there's the guys who are living the dream of being the action figures they used to to bash together, the veterans who are using it as a way to keep their muscle memory engaged while making sure everybody has a good time at it... and the guys who take it way too seriously because they either got turned down for the army or didn't have it in them to even try but want to pretend it makes them real soldiers.

Sometimes ''dead man crossing'' is inevitable.
I have had to use dead man walking a few times to avoid getting shot walking back to the respawn
I use "dead man walking" all the time, just not purposely louder in front of enemies with the purpose of giving them away, that just sux.
