DISCLAIMERS ON FORMATS COVERED:
Notice I said POPULAR formats, meaning a format where there is a significant amount of people who compete in it for tournaments and so on and so forth.
For the record, I do not care what rules or formats people play their battles by nor am I saying these formats are the only formats that should be played. The way you play Pokemon is between you and your opponent. I just like examining popular tournament formats.

How GOOD was this Channel at uploading high quality content on a regular basis, while simultaneously listening to viewer requests ACTUALLY?
Turns out, pretty Damn good. Meta defining infact
Best in the tier
It was okay during the early generations, but when it got its hidden ability, Patreon, suddenly it skyrocketed into Ubers.
In terms of Poketubers? Best in the tier and best in all stats. Quality, quantity and consistency. Unfortunately because of its OP stats CZcams will probably nerf it by demonetization but thankfully with the ability 'patreon', the HP of the channel replenishes after every upload
Was banned from ubers before mega ray
A legendary that got untiered. Geez that really shows how bad Ice is defensively when 200 Special Defence gives you nothing.
Well the thing is that 3/4 of it's weaknesses, rock, steel, and fighting mainly focuses on physical moves which regice doesn't have a lot of defense for those
@@kryo4491 its defense and hp stats aren't terrible, it's almost entirely due to its typing that it has such an issue. Ice is just so awful as a defensive typing
@@kryo4491 it also doesnt help that weaknesses to rock and fighting are viability-killers even with a few useful resistances. regice has no resistances besides ice.
It’s not just that but many things badly affects it
- weak to all Hazards ( Stealth Rocks, Spikes, Toxic Spikes etc)
- No resistance expect Ice
- no recovery
- slow and weak. Base 100 special attack doesn’t cut it any more
- Generation changes ( physical, special split, Z Moves, Mega Pokemon , Dynamax ) all badly affect it. It probably benefits from Dynamax but so does every Pokemon
- and finally. It’s outclassed by Kyurem who is Faster, has a slightly better typing , and has better stats and an ability that lets it run a viable Subroost set
Slow Ice Types for the most part have always been bad
@@bryanc1772 kyurem's typing is genuinely fantastic offensively
Is it me or when Regice becomes more light blue everytime, it gets worse?
Now that you mention it yeah, I can see that as well.
It's getting sick

AceMercer AMV ok that’s funny I did laugh
Then there's shiny Regice...
Imagine how amazing Regice would’ve been in RBY. Amnesia, STAB Blizzard, Thunderbolt, Thunder Wave, and 200 base Special! Even if it only had base 100 Special, it would still wreck after one Amnesia.
It would easily be uber
@@surelyyoujestin4871 It would easily be AG!

@@luiseduardo8806 ehhh fighting types
@@UltraV6565 oh no, the fighting types with their whole 1 good stab move that only machamp learns
For those who want Regigias here.:
Gen4-7: Amazing stats! But its ability makes it a terrible mon.
Isaac Clarke but that means giving your opponent more time to sweep so that’s very much all or nothing
After gen 5: send out cofagrigus, let it get hit by a physical attack, giving it mummy, switch out into regigigas and use pursuit. Boom! Regigigas without slow start
Gen 8: Dominated everything :P
iron man I’ve recently been using it in VGC ultra series and it’s actually incredible I use a set of wide guard icy wind knock off and return
Icy wind for speed control, wide guard protects Ho-Oh one of my restricteds from Kyogre’s water spout knock off removes incineroar’s assault vest or berry making it much easier to kill and return is just there cuz he can’t learn Protect lol but overall since I’m not trying to use it for offense and only take advantage of its bulk Regigigus is one of the best support mons I’ve ever used and I hope more people discover it
The problem is even if you wait out all 5 turns of slow start if it is forced out it gets reset all over thus isn't worth the usage ever. Really I think Regigigas needs a forme changing ability that shifts its ability to something else if you wait out the full turns that way while still a gimmick there would actually be some pay off
Regice In gen 3:The only good Regi
Regice In Gen 4 and onward:The Worst one
Damn,Power Creep sucks doesn’t it
Nah it wasn’t power creep as much as it was the physical special split and stealth rocks
The worst regi is regigigas
@@supermario2228
Regigigas nowadays is better than Regice because Normal type is far better and has great defenses to survive, so it can use T- wave and/or Toxic and resists extremely well in PU
Regirock can be really good in ADV OU if played correctly
Super Mario 222
I wouldn’t say so honestly.Yes Slow Start cripples him and makes him the 2nd worst Regi. But Regigigases Defenses are Amazing and he has a good move pool.Unlike Regice he has no Stealth Rock weakness and after 5 turns he becomes a monster if you can live that long.
I can still hear those anime cries

Since Regirock's dex entries mention it can repair its body by picking up rocks and reassembling itself with them, I think all the Regis should have a recovery move where they pick up or generate some extra material to rebuild their bodies and restore health.
I feel like the bulky regis should have an ability similar to solid rock and regigigas should have slow start reworked
I mean now that we have a similar Pokemon with Recover (Garganacl) there isn't much of an excuse for the Regis to not get Recover.
Regirock: Stamina
Registeel: Regenerator
Regice: Ice Scales
Sounds fun!
I would hate to be a special attacker against an Ice scales Regice lol. Especially if it got recover.
Someone at Game Freak, give Regirock Shore Up
Ice Beam looks so spectacular in those 3D arena games. :3
Regice: one of the best tanks in Gen 3
Stealth Rocks: *Imma 'bout to end this man's whole career*
Physical and Special split: Go brr
Imagine being untiered as a legendary.
@Chris Anderson I guess if articuno is down there, moltress is aswell
@@sambenmoser1240 Moltres is actually really good. It's typing it's just awful and switching him in it's super difficult. But he is strong and works in two weathers
@Magnus Von Braun nah its pretty bad. Ignoring stealth rock, water moves are pretty common. And Electric. Edgequake is common, so rock can wreck it. Its not the worst typing ever, but its pretty trash.
(Cries in regigias)
Laughs in Slow Start
gen 4: introduces physical fire moves
regice: Adios
12:16 this legendary is in the same tier as pre-evolved mons. And those NFEs are most popular than it. Poor regice
Honestly ORAS should've given the Regis SOMETHING. It was their remake too.

Can't forget about the ORIGINAL REGGIE

Reggie deserves a godly tier of his own.
By far the best Regi, great utility, can be a threat offensively and defensively, and the type combination of Dragon-Steel is excellent. And let's not forget that it gets a great ability in Huge Power

"The real problem was stealth rock" Pokemon in a nutshell since stealth rock was added
HDB: Allow me to introduce myself
You'd think an ancient ice golem with massive powers, -328F, and the ability to be unable to melted by magma would be able stand up to a bunch floating rocks and puny fire attacks
By that logic it would have something like Thick Fat
@@agentblackbird9435 or a clone with a more fitting name
How good was Regice?
Stealth rock and powercreep: 😏?
Imagine if the regis got recover.
All of then would be way more viable as they couldn't get worn down as easily plus with hdb regime could be a terror
So Refice was essentially the yamcha of the Regi trio. Much like yamcha, I feel bad for Regice
@@bradschaefer2387 I'd still say Yamcha cause he started out very well since he was the first opponent to ever beat goku. However, from then on, he just got shat on for the rest of the series
Good in Dragon Ball but can't teir in gen Z onwards.
No, he's the RADITZ of the Regis
I mean Regice is pure ice type. That's probably enough said.
Wayne The Chikorita needs an Ice/Steel typing
Ice types should at least have more resistance other than itself. It should at least resist Ground, Water and Flying and gain a Defense boost in Hail
This comment hasn't aged well... now we got a pure ice-type in ubers lol!
Remember folks there's a difference between a "buff" and outright not even trying to balance a mon.
@@lynxfresh5214 well that pokemon does get have pretty amazing stats along with a free choice band as it's ability AND it can still run a scarf for 1.5x attack and speed or even band for 2x attack haha
Ice is just the anti-steel

give ice types some actual defenses and nerf stealth rock
dwreanchinotan Or rather actual resistances.
Skeeter Mania Ice should resist poison, bug, flying, and water.
@@CarlosAlberto-nq3iv Any reason those would make logical sense?
Skeeter Mania
You can’t poison ice, insects can’t live in frigid climates (same with most birds), and water freezes and should take normal damage from ice.
Carlos Alberto Then it should be immune to Poison.
If i had to show someone regices competitive lifespan in under 30 seconds Id show them a timelapse of a melting snowman
regice is top tier bc it’s always t posing.
But it can't assert it's dominance thanks to powercreep
A posing*
It's kind of sad a legendary has to be in a tier with unevolved pokemon because it sucks so much lol
It's quite depressing...
I bet Weedle could outclass all the regi
Slow Ice Types have always been bad though. Regice is no expection
Kyurem is at least decently fast , has amazing stats, recovery and some useful resistance in Water, Electric and Grass
@@firepeaguy This aged poorly with Regieleki being added, oof

-Giratina, 2009
Come on Kellen, the real reason the Giratina video isn't out is because you're doing videos about *ICE CUBES*

Regice: *[melting since Gen 4]*
Heavy Duty Boots: Come, this is no place to die.
Amazing video! It's possible to see the effort put into this!
How good was drakrai next pls
The idea of an ancient near mythical monster created as the perfect representation of the nature if ice, just about managing to fight a tiny parrot is kinda sad
This is why I wonder what would happened if the Physical/Special split never happened
Some pokemon would be absolutely broken.
I think it was a necessary and healthy change that let many Pokemon actually use their offensive stats, and meant that physical or special walls would no longer completely wall entire types, but those same walls tended to suffer when the split happened as a result. Especially the ones who had a type with many weaknesses, like Regice. Even without the split, Regice would have had a rough time due to Stealth Rock, though (a move that arguably needs re-balancing as it dictates way too much of what's viable and what isn't in the metagame).
@@Thesaurus_Rex I think what could help, is make Stealth rock like Spikes, that it does damage, not based on type, because Stealth rock has been very unhealthy for a while
Thesaurus Rex Stealth Rock absolutely needs a nerf. How have we gone a decade with something so polarizing?!
@@cosmictraveler1146 Stealth rock has been so unhealthy, its made types that don't effect by it, get a boast, and made stealth rock users more common, it was changed, Ice and fire might have a chance to be good
Just to give you a picture of Regice's attack
He has one more attack point than Bulbasaur
@Reuniclus and 10 less than ekans
Stealth Rock was to Regice what the Blue Shell is to the first place driver in Mario Kart, a blow difficult (if not impossible) to recover from.
I more akin Stealth Rocks to Lightning from Mario Kart. It's everywhere, unavoidable, and pegs you down from first place.
"a calculated effort to take it down as far as possible" you can hear the laugh as he says it and it makes it so much funnier
9:52 Didn't know you were allowed to attack the trainer as well : d
4:54 How GOOD was Snorlax's pointy stomach ACTUALLY?
I liked Regice the most, as it looked pretty cool, ice pins aside.
It’s COOL having a surprise upload
Like many others, Regiice needs a stat change
Since it can slide along the ground, its base speed should be at least 90
And as I suggested before, Ice types should be reworked:
Have them super effective against and resist water (ice freezes water and displaces it)
This alone would make all Ice types more viable.
I used to love Regice, so hearing that it had a hard fall from grace frankly saddens me...
thank you for doing regice and regirock! my two fave mons
i love regice's little dance in gen 3 stadium game
he has always just been vibing and grooving
doesn't it feel like the legendaries of each gen should be strong enough to make a tier?
Joe Arcamonte it does, especially since all the lore suggests really powerful beings while in game stats often prove a different point. But then again I have that feeling with a lot of Pokémon, take ninetales or gardevoir...
Breaking news, the legendary Pokémon Regice was slapped once by a common monferno and died horribly.
@@Clodnesia it's still 600 BST, higher than most mons by far, it just doesn't have a good enough niche vs mons with very optimised niches that are better, & has too many poor match ups vs mons that are weaker than it, + stealth rocks exists , & Ninetails got randomly nerfed in gen 2, it was on paper the best special attacking pure fire type in gen 1, Charizard & Arcanine both got buffed in gen 2 + Typhlosion was added with the same stats as the improved Charizard & Ninetails got a random 19 BST reduction fsr all on special attack, '.' I think it was to make other fire types stand out more maybe ? Gardevoir is good except in gen 5.
Broadbull, Enabler of Uncounted Combos yeah I picked the wrong examples. I guess I was just trying to say that a lot of Pokémon have wicked Pokédex entries but don’t live up to them ingame
ToxiPlume QS honestly if every legendary Pokémon got a signature move and/or ability I feel like they would do much better as the ability pressure and small useless move pools really hinder a lot of legendaries.
To improve Regice, I would make ice resistant to flying and water, and give it freeze dry.
@0:27 don’t be so surprised. A Pikachu with lightball can do serious damage on the defensive side of regice.
Ayy Regice video on Cirno Day?
Can't be a coincidence. That's cool.

Sunday's are not complete without this.
I’ll never forget the one time I got swept by this thing. The rock polish set took me by surprise. I had never seen the set before and I severely underestimated it. It was just a free battle in gen 6 so not too competitive but still. It made me never underestimate a Regice again!

From the best Regi to by far the worst of them. The Rock and Fighting buff, plus the physical special split, was its downfall.
Regice was the first Legendary I ever saw. I turned on the tv and Pokémon Lucario and the Mystery of Mew was playing half way through and the first thing I see is this cool icicle beast say Regice in this cool voice and shootin ice everywhere.
My fav Regi and one of my fav legendary overall. He needs more love. I think Gravity has a secondary affect that increases some accuracy so I've used Gravity, Thunder, Blizzard and Focus Blast
Next up we have Regice, easily the worst of the Regi trio and that's saying something..
I wish Regice had more speed and reliable recovery. At least it's anime cry is cool.
I feel that if all the regis had better speed, and recover, it would make them all good, or hell better abilities, That would make Regigigas, maybe OU, in one hit, maybe, registeel to have Prankster, with all its amazing moves, would move it up a tier, and regirock better ability and moves, could get it out of PU, regice, just has the problem of having everything bad for it, mostly its typing, maybe Magic bounce on it, would help

I think the physical and special split also went against it as well as more Pokemon with good physical fighting type moves. Back then you relied on Focus Punch and Brick Break with the accational Cross Chop and Sky Uppercut. Now you have Close Combat and Superpower is not limited to the Regis, Deoxys and Nidoqueen anymore.
Also Fire Type Super Effectiveness mattered more with physical Fire Punch, Fire Fang and Flare Blitz.

Fun facts! You said Regice roughly 59 times! Neato!
Regice, design wise, is one of my favorite pokemon, and I've tried really hard to get him to work, but he just....doesn't. I feel if all the regi's had a teeny bit more attacking power, or a reliable recovery move they'd be in a much better spot, but alas, that isn't the case, and they just feel overall meh to use competitively.

I saw it too, screenshotted it too
I still like using an AV set with max hp special attack and modest nature. With a set of ice beam, thunderbolt, flash canon, and focus blast. It’s inconsistent (cause Ice is such a bad defensive typing) but it soaks up nitrile special attacks like they are nothing and hits surprisingly hard back. With wish support it can be effective and it has a surprises factor cause most players don’t see it very often.
Ah, my favorite Regi. :D
Resttalk, Charge Beam + Frost Breath catches so many people by surprise.
Keep your Toxic and Calm Minds coming!
