    i graduated four years ago from allen and i felt like the band was extremely close. the measures that they go through to include everyone and the spirit that of the school/city actually makes people more proud to be a part of the band. although i wasnt in band, i was lucky enough to go to the year end banquet every year, i can tell you.....it was better than prom.

    To those who complain about this band (because you're jelly of us), I'd like to point out that, unless you're from Hebron, our band is as good as yours, if not better. I've seen bands with 70 members have the same percent of error as our 700 member band. Our shows aren't always as fancy since we can't fit props and our directors like more artsy themes, but that doesn't make our band inferior. We're the best, now and still, Allen Eagle Escadrille!

      It may seem like it but it's useless. Like why so many? Can't your director have sections of the band on at certain times? Why all at once? You're literally walking in step.

    • @TakkuriHimare
      @TakkuriHimare Před 9 lety

      You know that a majority of this video is just us standing and playing for our drill team and color guard, right? This isn't our main UIL show for that year. That was our first show of the season. Of course it was sloppy, the first show often is since we haven't perfected everything yet. Sections of the band wouldn't work. We'd be limited by what music and what impact we could have. Our band is world famous for size at this point, so we aren't giving that up. We do fine in UIL, and we always at least make finals in competitions even if we don't win. We most certainly aren't walking in step, we marched straightleg until 2014 where it was changed to a different matching style. Watch our UIL videos if you want. Are we the best band ever? No, and we know that, but we always do well enough, impress audiences everywhere, and more importantly, we have a lot of fun being a huge group of band dorks actually succeeding at something athletic. It's not useless, it takes a great deal of precision to deal with marching around that many with out collisions. We also have issue with quiet dynamics, but we can play quite impressive ffffff. In truth, our directors all want to see us succeed as best we can. They work hard on shows every year to make sure we all get a chance to do well. The long and short of it is that there are so many because we like it loud and impressive. All there is to it.

    • @kmills62
      @kmills62 Před 10 lety +1

      That's easy....Texas and TAM have auditions for new members. They don't just take anyone that can walk and carry an instrument like Allen High School does.

      @TakkuriHimare Před 10 lety

    One thing I would be worried about with a band log that size is closeness. With 850 members it's not going to be the same. We have 107 in my marching band and we all KNOW each other, we all hang out together and go out, we're family, with our director being the "dad" more so to some of us than others. But with that monstrosity of a band it's not as closely knit, it sounds amazing though. Just there's something beneath the surface that isn't...there.

    Oh my god before anyone says that allen is going nowhere or that they cant do drill or anything, u should probably know that a. This year and the year after that, allen was going through leadership change and as a result the 2012 and 13 years sucked. And b. allen made finals at area b this year which is the most competitive area in texas and one of them in the US (with bands like hebron marcus ld bell, martin, and haltom). Allen had the talent to make the state marching contest this year, and if they were in a different region, Allen would have been in san Antonio this year (not winning but still). Allen is a rising band program with lots of potential who has yet to hit their peak.

    What you would do for a HUGE band is to either make a pattern with a dozen or so marchers and repeat it across the field, or pretend like you have multiple cramped bands that don't interact.

    actually we are able to get 1's at UIL shows. dont speak so highly of your self. i couldnt give 2 shits if you came from southlake and neither could an other person in this comment section. you wanna see a good marching band in the metroplex, look at LD bell. i dont know where you got 100000 from as we are 80000 something. the reason why we only have one is because we signed a waver saying we would. and no its not getting to allen's head. don't let a damn rivalry cloud your judgment.

  • @f3nd13y
    @f3nd13y Před 11 lety

    Hmm idk, ive heard bands with 1/4 the members with a bigger sound and they can actually make complex sets. When is big too big? right here. Its cool and nice to say you have a massive band but in terms of marching its just not there for me.

  • @TheFrite92

    850? you guys have about the same amount of people enrolled at my high school.... lolol

  • @rivermegan
    @rivermegan Před 10 lety +1

    The problem with having such a massive band like this is that there isn't much space for them to do any kinds of formations. All they can do is walk back and forth in straight lines which makes the whole show kinda bland and boring. They do have a decent sound though but I would still love to see them do more marching instead of just standing there like planks of wood.

    • @spadeplaladin5
      @spadeplaladin5 Před 9 lety

      You would honestly be really surprised.. This video was released 2 years ago when the band reached its peak. Is it still large? Yes, but not as much. The show you are seeing is a show done in traditional style which this band has been doing for 10 plus years with some changes. As soon as school begins we start working a corps style show you are probably more used to seeing. Which we do pretty well. Allen this year made finals at one of the most competitive regions for marching band in the country (area b). This year we got to compete with past state winners and grand national finalists. That being said, are we as good as them? Not at all, we made 10/10 in the finals, but if allen was in a different region we would have gone to state this year

  • @8691grcbandmember
    @8691grcbandmember Před 11 lety

    ummmmm... yeah! way too big... and do you guys perform at a state level? I am sorry, but as a director myself, you just need to able to march, and perform drill as well. But with that said, I am glad you guys are very happy.... I am happy with my 175 members. 13 in a row state champions, and 2 National Grand champions...

  • @allpeeps4me
    @allpeeps4me Před 11 lety

    I'm not trying to be rude here but the Allen Band is far too large to even drill properly. I graduated from Southlake Carroll and can tell you that quantity does NOT equal quality. The band in question is sloppy as hell. I'm not sure why the UIL is even allowing a city of 100,000+ to only have 1 highschool campus but it's getting to your heads.
