      I think it's supposed to be a bitter critique by Taro, the game itself was released just a few years after 9/11, so he was in a pretty grim mindset as is, but it's basically saying how humans always prefer violence and would rather "destroy the immediate threat" than risk any more lives, hence the pilots had no choice but to bomb Angelus/Caim since they had no information that they were actually their saviors

      @Egg T because... The "disease" that the Queen Grotesquerie released in the Tokyo of Ending E isn't exactly a disease...
      It's a kind of substance that forces each individual that comes in contact with it a "pact". If they don't accept the pact, their entire body becomes Salt and remains as a "statue". If they accept, they become kind of crazy servant supermutant humans that seek to destroy all humans and carry the "disease" with them. No in-between option. A 100% mortality "disease".
      Thing is... Superhuman mutants that can infect other people with the thing are kind of hard to combat with normal weapons because they're supernatural in origin. So to contain he rapidly expanding infection, it seems they decided to just carpet bomb huge areas of japan.
      Turns out magical particles can't be destroyed with that... So these particles were sent to many parts of the world by the explosions and shit happened....

      The God of the Drakengard Dimension/World created all of those things allegedly but wants to destroy humanity because of it's free will. In the end it looks like this God succeeded (partially because of Drakengard's ending E that saves Drakengard's world but destroys Nier's.) Humanity dies out in Replicant and is already dead in Automata. Yoko Taro needs to make a game that resolves the watchers story because they essentially get away with everything that happened in Nier with no one in the Nier Dimension knowing about them or their origins or even how to go to the Drakengard dimension to fight/kill them.
      Edit: Humans should still be alive in Drakengard's dimension since they didn't have the WCS disease.

      all they knew was that a giant woman fell from a magical portal in the sky followed by a strange person riding a dragon, leading to a huge fight causing massive destruction in their city. They immediately scrambled their defenses to neutralize what seemed like a threat and blew it out the sky. All of this probably happened in a matter of minutes. they had no idea what was going on.

    A game requiring you to beat it 47 times just to understand the ending is a garbage game. No other franchise does this. It's not cool or clever, its stupid. I stopped playing the original Nier as soon as I realized this. And I looked this video up because maybe I wanted to try the series again, but just realized how redundant it all is. There is a reason these games and their sequels don't sell tons. And its because its more of a chore to get the full experience that it is fun. All that said, the video did a good job. This rant isn't' directed at him.

      No wonder these game is so popular with weebs, they have all the time in the world to spend playing just one game and connects all the dots from various endings and shit to obtain the whole lore

    • @Naniko
      @Naniko  Před 4 lety +12

      @@zul2788 The dots don't connect from various endings. Only one ending is cannon from each of the games. And that's only with Drakengard 1 and 3. Drakengard 2 isn't canon at all, and Nier / Nier: Automata don't have "multiple endings" you basically just continue the story after the credits roll. It's essentially just tradition at this point.
      None of this is to discredit not liking it, you're totally entitled to your own opinion and that includes not liking it. I'm just clarifying.
