  • After ten months of training its time for me to do an solo ascent of Mont Blanc 4810m via the Gouter route. Follow me on the epic adventure from Sweden, to French Chamonix, to the Tete Rousse hut and finally the top! You like my video? Support me trough Patreon! / antonlevein
    Short gear list:
    Pack: Patagonia ascensionist 40L
    Jacket: The north pace apex flex, trousers: Mammut Courmayeur, boots La Sportiva batura, Down: Simond Makalu.
    Crampons and Ice axe: Simond. Harness and crevasse rescue equipment incl. 3 ice screws, rope, carabiners, slings, micro traxion, belayer. Cap, glacier sunglasses, ski mask, sun cream.

    Really nice work, Anton. Great to see the training paid off! I'm hoping to climb Mont Blanc myself next summer, so was great to see another do it solo.

    Wow. I want to go to the summit of Mont Blanc as well. I’m now training and want to go when I feel ready for it. It would be such an achievement. Your video is amazing!

    Great job anton! Mont Blanc is always pure pleasure to climb and very rewarding! Good job on the alpine start from tete rouche, alot of people make the mistake and ascent in the midday which sucks because of rockfall! good job!

    just got back from Charmonix .... i took the cable car to aiguille du midi .... maybe next year i'll be a bit less lazy ;). great job, loads of respect !!!! Cheers

    Well done on achieving your goal! A pity the views did not greet you, but a nice short video to watch. It does make me sad however, to see 'hotel huts', permanent cables and groups of people on the routes of many of the world's mountains nowadays. Personally it takes away a lot of the thrill and ultimate satisfaction. So I often seek out less known mountains and regions to explore.

    Epic summit Anton!
    a friend and i will be attempting this same run tete russe hut stop then summit next morning /afternoon 😅 there is no more spots open on gouter hut for aug. So we will need to strategize the stops. What happens if it gets dark on the way down and you have no reservation (im assuming you keep hiking down with headlamp)
    I think the way you did it is the exact way we will have to do it (unguided)

    Well put together. Good climb 😀 just done a small peak climb in the middle of storm Dennis . Was incredible. Would like to set some goals for Mont Blanc.

    Riktigt nice :-) skulle vilja göra detta själv. Hur var det med glaciärer och så med tanke på att du gjorde det själv?

      @@johanolofsson1258 ja, de finns där och är objektivt sätt faror som kan vara oberäkneliga. Man måste själv studera och sätta sig in i riskerna det innebär, för det är för många troligtvis det farligaste man någonsin utsatt sig för. Jag skulle också säga att riskerna idag är större än då, med tanke på hur mycket mindre snö som finns idag. Glaciären krymper ganska fort och det har varit några år med klena snöbryggor och mycket sprickor.

    inspiring video! Thanks for this. I am planning a solo expedition to Mont Blanc this year or next. I need to gain some more experience, but I'm wondering if a harness is neccesery? did you use this often during climbing Mont Blanc or did you have it just in case?

      You need your harness on any glacier for rescue purposes, if you are going alone you don’t need a harnes for somthing else. Hope it helped 😊

    Well done man! How difficult is it finding the right track, especially from Refuge de Gôuter to the summit in the early morning, when you're on your own?

      Yes, I though long and hard about the risks. Jumped one bridge on the way down as it looked a bit sadder during the afternoon heat.

    Hi, well done! How is it to climb solo? Is it a safe thing to do? I hope to start from tete rouse- summit one day. Should be possible i guess

      There is no safe solo climbs in glacier terrain, and it’s getting more and more dangerous by the year :(

      Google "Gouter route mont blanc" and you shall find. You can see the trail on good mountain maps.

      No challenges that year in particular, but as climate is getting warmer the glacier is getting more and more dangerous for each year.

      About 4 days above 3000m, and then Tete rousse hut.

      Ricardo Gonçalves if I remember correctly the breakfast was at 4 o’clock. Left around 4:45 maybe.

    how far in advance did you reserve hut space and did you have to reserve space for both huts?

      I reserved for both, pretty much on the date they opened up booking. If you miss that date, there is a big risk you won’t get a spot.

      Schirin Sh 40Liter, but you could probably go with 25. Don’t forget the obligatory equipment though! :)

      Ofc it payed of! Especially now, two years later when I run ultras and climb so much better. Mont Blanc was not an end goal 🙌🏻

    There is nothing to mark the summit of Mont Blanc? (Certainly not a broken random metal spike with some tape attached to it). And I'm surprised you didn't get a picture of the Vallot Shelter on your way to the summit?
