The dynamic between you two remind me of James may trying to explain something to Clarkson or Hammond 😂
    Keep it up 👍🏻

Loving the new show lads, big fan of F1 so I'll be tuning in to this one throughout the season. One of the best "last" to first wins of recent years was probably the 2020 Sakhir Grand Prix. Perez had started 5th but was in last place (sans the retiring Verstappen) after the third corner due to a collision. The Racing Point that year was controversially considered a clone of the Mercedes earning the nickname "Tracing Point" but Sergio was able to hold on after a late safety car for the win as George Russell (who was filling in for a covid stricken Hamilton that week) had to pit due to a tyre puncture. So a safety car to recover Verstappen's car kept him in the race after a lap 1 pit stop, a late safety car to recover the front wing of a Williams that crashed kept him in the lead, plus Russell's puncture as he was chasing Perez down late in the race all helped a good recovery strategy come to fruition.
Basically everything just landed his way in that race for him to come back from plum last at turn 3 to win. It was especially significant for Perez as he had been told by the team just a month or two prior that they had signed Vettel and that he would be out of the team at the end of the season.

That was one of the best races in recent history! What an insane race from Checo and one of the most insane nights for formula 1!

Safety Car causes the cars to bunch up on purpose, in order to give track marshalls and other crews to clean up debris/cars/barriers from the crash. it gives them a larger time with no cars driving by to clean up, as opposed to constantly having cars driving past them at the gaps that they had during the race.
Virtual safety car keeps those gaps and are used when a large cleanup is not necessary, like when a car breaks down and is able to make it close to an opening so marshalls just have to push the car back behind the barriers and dont have to go onto the actual track to clean anything up

FYI you need to use two different sets of tyres but, do not actually have to pit at all. If there is a red flag in a race, then everyone is brought into the pits and the teams can change the tyres on the car. There have definitely been races where cars have completed with 0 pit stops listed but the tyres' requirement fulfilled as it should be. :)

That is very true, feel like I skimmed past the red flag aspect of that!

@@Formula_Fools I admit that I was a little worried that you were going to skip the whole thing about tyre compounds when you mentioned that the rule was that you just had to stop once. Glad you covered it. I also just realised I should have put 'types' and not sets :( Oh well. Not like Skin is likely to read this and be edumicated by it :D Consider me just someone trying to help grow the viewership by leaving a like and comment, and subscribing, of course. I listen to a lot of F1 podcasts and am happy to add one with a person who knows the sport and one who wants to learn. I look forward to finding out who Skin decides to follow in a future episode :)

Bro I want to watch but man ppl are in a different league. I’m 4+ years in and I wanna talk about more F1 than F1 101. You seem interesting, maybe you and I can talk about F1, but the format of this pod is weird. Much luck, here’s a follow and thumbs up.
