I couldn't agree more about GW's monopose miniatures having entirely too many parts: it really does make them feel like a chore to put together sometimes.
@@sonsofisstvan1675 They really were fun to build and still looked great to me, if they kept the models exactly the same except scaled up to match what GW puts out now it would be much better than what GW ended up doing.
TBH I think considering what a bitch resin is to work with in comparison to plastic it's a weird complaint though - just get some Tamiya extra thin and pretty much any recent plastic GW kit ain't that hard to build.
One of the developers forgot the name of the plasma bombard either live or recorded. Like I’ve said in the past, these things were on their desks over a year ago, if they were even on the team working on them at that time at all.
What bothers me about the benefictus, as a GSC player, is that it’s *another* character in an army with far too many of them and a desperate need of units. With the new guy being our *14th* character in an army with only 8 non-character units. (5 infantry, 2 vehicles, and a bike squad)
I miss special characters getting unique banners, a fancy helmet and a special weapon. Immediately lets you know who and what they are from tabletop height.
Yeah it was a pretty cool preview. Interesting there is no HQ in the Mechanicum box. I guess they know people will buy that new Technopope separately for Character Price, and he is super cool too, so it feels more reasonable. More zombie-styled Thrall poses is interesting.
Seems like they’re doing that more with the “battle force” boxes, since we didn’t get a MKIII praetor model, although I guess the Solar aux did get their command squad
@calebnordmeyer4131 yeah given this is a faction launch I think solar aux is the better comparison - but solar aux just got a small sprue for their standard infantry to make an HQ, whereas obviously you can't make a Tech thrall into a magos.
@kapitanbeuteltier5889 I think this one will sell out the first print run pretty quick, which is a shame, cos only the release wave goes to discounters these days.
One of the things I despise about new kits is the specificity of parts - I was making some admech models the other day, and doing a bit of kitbashing as I went. At the end, I was one model left over so I figured I'd build a standard non-kitbashed one... but the legs and torso wouldn't go together without a lot of work, because GW wants dynamic poses.
I just spent an evening suffering through gluing together my first mechanicum units, some Thallax for a forgelord, and as I am un supergluing my fingers, I see that Mech is coming in plastic. Huzzah. But also. FUCK.
Whilst I won't be purchasing any of the 30k Mechanicus due to the inevitable high prices, the range left me very surprised and excited with all that was moving from resin to plastic. Still on the fence about the Necromunda minis. I'm from the old school of Necromunda 1st Ed and I would have preferred to see the Spyre armour be the old style, brought into 2024.
I'll be honest, I was genuinely surprised we didn't see plastic myrmidons. At least not yet. But very much like the plastic SA, I'm glad that they're making Mechanicum more "accessible" for new players coming to HH without any resin experience. I do really like playing against Mechanicum and I look forward to more people playing it.
I lover how on the SA Battle Group they spread the infantry out to look like there's morte than there actually is, but they're out of cohesion 🤣 Given how totally unoptimised these boxes are (I sadly own the SA one, but have no intentions of building or expanding on it) this Mechanicum box is likely going the same route.
Puting a big centerpiece model like the spartan or that Mech tank is another slimy sales tactic. It raises the price and the perceived value of the boxset, but isn't actually that practical for a players army. The player then finds themselves shelling out even more money down the road than they planned to in order to fill out their army.
wait what? The Spartan was from a Launch Box/Starter Set that you really dont need more than one of. But for the first army you build, a Spartan is fantastic. And the Mechanicum Tank (or Transport) is very good at its job and efficient for points. So not at all a "bad" unit you wont use.
I will say this here as well. I am very sad that these models won’t be coming to 40k as well. I would be more then happy to buy one for my ad mech army. They would also fill out a huge part of the army that is missing.
I was surprised at how good these reveals were. Mechanicum's all very welcome in plastic (and for the most part very faithful), and the new Necromunda stuff is the sort of thing I want more of from GW. The Malstrain Genestealers actually got me excited, what a great, lore-friendly spin on an existing concept. The only thing that rubs me the wrong way is the fabric on the Archmagos Prime. Even if his hips are angular under that robe, the fabric on top looks more like painted Glad Wrap than cloth. I'm convinced it's a deliberate thing to make edge highlighting a no-brainer, instead of a CAD limitation, since they've shown they can make fabric look realistic if they want to (Ushoran).

@TheCrimsonArchivist it's more timed exclusivity. That's the problem, I dont want to spend lots on a box just to get one unit, and eBay isn't that viable for discounts anymore so rather than wait a couple of months for the model id be after, I'd just acquire it elsewhere. I love the Mechanicum stuff but don't have time to start yet another army. Necromunda made me laugh cos I think GSC got a better reveal for that than for their actual 40K army. Curious to see the price on the Necromunda box - there's a distinct lack of terrain but Ash Wastes was criticised for locking up a lot of it's cost in expensive terrain pieces, plus I've got a load of official and printed Zone Mortalis stuff anyway. I guess we'll see when they release the price.. Kill Team Ashes of Faith was a similar concept, had 40 models and was like £95 RRP, whereas this has like 28 models, some minor terrain bits, dice, templates etc and a bit bigger rulebook so I'm expecting something around the same mark, maybe £100 with recent price increases. quick correction about that battle group box. The group was a limited release. So because you used the Australian site, it was very likely gone. In the United States, there's still a few boxes available so it's still listed. When you googled it, you can see in the top corner it has a rest of the world icon. 210 is the American price. The mk iii battle group was the same price. Also, learn to edit more. We didn't need that waste of time of you finding it. That 45 minutes I'm not getting back could have been cut down to what is actually important. Also, people sell individual parts of the boxes on ebay all the time. Things you'd want like mk iii and leman russes are being sold separately like the dracosan. You aren't wrong, but there's more reasons why individual parts are being sold on ebay. One more thing that's purely a personal opinion. I think using Tallarn is a good thing for epic because it could mean using a lot more tanks in 1 battle compared to standard 30k. It would be amazing to play Tallarn battles in 28 mm, but the points restrictions wouldn't have as much scale. You wouldn't have a ton of malcadors, baneblades, and russes vs a ton of predators, sicarans, and land raiders in a standard game without allowing a much higher point limit. Bigger table too.
2 years too late. Gw have dropped the ball with 30k. The 210 price you noted will get the uplift so it be even more. Yet we sit here with no recon or breachers still
The new Castellax model looks better than the FW version. There is more mass at the connection point between the torso and the arm. The old FW model had a very spindly connection and my models constantly snap there. It’s also got a butt now, which is okay, I guess. They don’t show the back of the model.

That Necro reveal would've worked a lot better for me if the entire Spyer Hunter Team was there in box, overpowered, yes, challenging, yes, fun, yes. Also they should be available separately from release, for those who want them, it's not an unreasonable ask, but GW will slap an unreasonable price on them and still withold them for months. Edited.
I doubt I'm the first to say this but I believe that GW is making these kits with smaller, and as many parts as possible, to make recasting difficult. I don't think it's working but I think that's what they are attempting
I like the Archmagos fez he has going on. Regarding the online store. Yep. Terrible. But they were not interested in past experience from veteran store developers. Lol. Well its less of a starter box more of a battleforce. There was bo hq in the MK3 battleforce they did for space marines. Only one in the SA box. I've been 'gone' from 40k since 8th dropped and let me tell you, not buying GW doesn't mean you can't play the game. I've 3d printed enough with the money spent for a single army and have multiple. People can't even tell the difference with a lot of the scanned files nowadays.
Yeah, the website still needs a lot of work. How does it still not remember your language and region preferences, or that you said okay to cookies the last 20 times? Is that not the (good) kind of information cookies are meant to be keeping track of? It's also a slog to search through, the way the categories are all set up is frustrating. I've been 'gone' from 40k since 8th dropped and let me tell you, not buying GW doesn't mean you can't play the game. I've 3d printed enough with the money spent for a single army and have multiple. People can't even tell the difference with a lot of the scanned files nowadays.
The Genestealer HQ is fantastic
To be fair, you did type "Battlegroup" not "Battle Group" which is what the set is called. Still an awful site though.
Yeah, the website still needs a lot of work. How does it still not remember your language and region preferences, or that you said okay to cookies the last 20 times? Is that not the (good) kind of information cookies are meant to be keeping track of? It's also a slog to search through, the way the categories are all set up is frustrating.
The old site wasn't perfect, but I'd take it over this any day.
I think the new Ad Secularis look terrible. Cartoony rather than Grimdark, and the new guns look so stupid.
Where’s my arlatax?
Gimme a plastic Domitar, then we can finally have an IW "character" at the same time
