      There needs to be a better way to screw over the leaders, otherwise the winner is already determined within the first 20 seconds. Maybe it can be a 1 lap race & eliminate the person in last place.

    Oo adding a warp item would be so cool! Imagine you either just warp ahead a certain amount of paces, you trade places with some one, or you warp up to a certain place in the race like if you are in 7th now youre in 3rd or something like that. I would love to see any new items added! The wii had the big mushroom and that was pretty fun. If they somehow mishmashed the mario kart games with different modes of racing that would be awesome. I’ve been saying this for a while… the Mario Kart team at Nintendo EPD hasn’t done anything since Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and ARMS in 2017. They’ve had YEARS to cook up an entirely new mainline game from scratch (as opposed to another “Deluxe” version of Mario Kart 8).
    It doesn’t usually take 6-7 years to make a new Mario Kart, considering we used to get a new one every 2-3 years or so. So whatever the Mario Kart team is working on now is pretty substantial, and I wouldn’t be surprised if we see it ready for the launch of the Switch’s successor.

    • @jockson7574
      @jockson7574 Před 2 měsíci

      They could actually port 8 again

    • @PianistTanooki
      @PianistTanooki Před 2 měsíci

      @@jockson7574 I see people throwing that out a lot. While they could do this… I find it very unlikely.
      The reason the Switch did not get a unique Mario Kart entry is simply due to timing. The dev team responsible for the Mario Kart series had wrapped up the DLC for the Wii U version of Mario Kart 8 in Spring 2015. They had their hands full making what turned out to be ARMS on Switch AND they were tasked with making a Switch iteration of Mario Kart to have ready for the Switch’s launch.
      Less than two years is NOT that much time for a new Mario Kart game, and Nintendo prefers to make new games. I’m sure if things were entirely up to them, they would have done so for the Switch. However, instead of making an entirely new Mario Kart game from scratch, they decided to take the current game, Mario Kart 8, and improve it. They’d never done this prior, but the Wii U was a catastrophic flop, and they desperately needed the Switch to succeed right out of the gate.
      They don’t have this problem, anymore. The circumstances are completely different now. The Switch is the third best selling platform of all time, the Mario Kart team hasn’t done anything substantial since 2017, AND they’ve had all the time in the world to cook something brand new. There is no reason for them to port Mario Kart 8 again.

      @@PianistTanookieither that or 3d Mario. Btw they could port again Mario kart 8 deluxe. Think about it Mario kart 8 plus booster course pass.
      I much rather have more dlc than a full game tbh. Like a booster course pass 2, they could put everything from tour that isn't in 8 yet.
      The reason why I want more dlc is that I want the next Mario kart to have all original courses rather than having retro courses and just a few new courses.

    • @PianistTanooki
      @PianistTanooki Před 2 měsíci +2

      @@user-qu1nb5gn4v They COULD do that.. but just because they could doesn’t mean they should.
      Yes, I get that you could just expand Mario Kart 8 indefinitely… but eventually the series has to move on. What’s gonna happen once every single course is in Mario Kart 8? Do we just keep bringing this “ultimate” version of mk8 from system to system? Mario Kart is more than just “include all of the courses,” each game also introduces new mechanics to mix up the gameplay. If we never get a new base game, then the series will never evolve like it has in the past.
      We’ve been playing the same game for a decade now. I’d much rather see an entirely new game with courses/characters based on the most recent Mario entries like Odyssey and Wonder. Mario Kart 8 came out before Super Mario Odyssey was ever a thing. Plus, if the dev team’s been working on this new entry for 6-7 years, who’s to say that this new game won’t have just as much content as Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, and then some?
      They COULD port 8 again, but they shouldn’t. Nintendo can do better than that… and they ARE better than that.

      It’s not just the LEGO Mario Kart.
      It’s also the fact that next year is when the Switch successor is expected to drop, and the Mario Kart team hasn’t produced anything substantial since 2017. (The BCP is not “something substantial” like making a brand new Mario Kart from scratch.)
      Releasing Mario Kart 8 Deluxe right after the Switch’s launch was an incredibly successful business strategy, so it only makes perfect sense to replicate this on the Switch’s successor by having an entirely new game ready for the launch window.

    I wouldn't be surprised it Nintendo launched the Switch 2 with Mario Kart. I think Mario Kart 8 Deluxe proved that the sooner you release a Mario Kart game, the better. It's been an evergreen title, even though it has been a pack-in game for the holidays. Plus, it can be a technical showcase of what the Switch 2 can do. One new feature for the Switch 2 can be 120 Hz, and Mario Kart has always have higher frame rates than most games Nintendo has published. Mario Kart games have been running at 60 fps for decades at this point, and I think them bumping up to 120 Hz could be a big deal.

    • @PianistTanooki
      @PianistTanooki Před 2 měsíci

      A 120Hz refresh rate on the Switch 2 screen itself sounds like something that’d kill the battery life faster, so unless they could pull off similar numbers to the original Switch’s battery life while maintaining 120Hz, I’d rather they just focus on other aspects of performance. I’d rather they just focus on other aspects of the visuals… the game already runs at 1080p@60fps on Switch. Maybe have some dynamic lighting instead of baked lighting so that GBA Sunset Wilds can return with an actual sunset, for starters?

      They’ve had all the time in the world to make a new game, and 60+ million people bought Mario Kart 8 Deluxe on Switch. There’s no good reason for them to rest on their laurels anymore. It’s time for something new.

      @@dangermouseuk78 Yes, it was easy to port, but prior to Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, they'd NEVER ported an existing Mario Kart to a new console. Every single Nintendo device (except the original Game Boy) had a brand new Mario Kart made specifically for that device. The Switch was the first console where they chose to instead port their existing game, Mario Kart 8. Considering that the Mario Kart team was busy making ARMS for Switch, why would they hastily port the Wii U entry of Mario Kart when they could've instead waited and made an entirely new Mario Kart for the new console? Like I said, they'd never done this prior, even with the 3DS and the Wii U, which desperately needed new games at the time they launched. They COULD'VE waited until 2018 or 2019 to release an entirely new Switch iteration of Mario Kart, but they instead chose to make the Switch iteration of Mario Kart a "Deluxe" version of the Wii U game. Again, they'd never done this prior, so it's VERY clear that this was an act of desperation to have a Mario Kart ready for the Switch's launch. It was a deliberate choice.
      Your F-Zero/Star Fox examples don't work at all because Nintendo doesn't have a consistent, dedicated teams actively making these games. Those games also have a history of not selling very well, especially F-Zero. And even if we were to see a new entry from one of those franchises, Nintendo would most likely outsource it to another developer, as they did with the last several Star Fox entries and F-Zero GX. With Mario Kart, they have a specific team at Nintendo EPD making Mario Kart entries… just like they have a team in Tokyo that specifically develops all the 3D Mario titles with Yoshiaki Koizumi. Considering Mario Kart's successful history, that team is always working on whatever the next big entry is for the franchise. The team has not made anything substantial since 2017, so whatever it is that they're working on, they've been working on it for a while. Mario Kart does not take 6-7 years to make… we used to get a new one every 3-4 years, so whatever the next Mario Kart entry is, they've had MORE than enough time to make it.
      Basically, we are not under the same circumstances we were in back in 2016/2017, the circumstances that led Nintendo to port Mario Kart 8 to a new console. The Wii U failed, few people played Mario Kart 8 on that console. They brought it over to the Switch, now everybody's played it. There's no need for them to port it again, and they'd be smart to not do that. What you're suggesting, them porting Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and then having another game ready later would likely not happen, because Nintendo only likes to do one Mario Kart per console. As of right now, not a single Nintendo console exists with two mainline Mario Kart entries. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, even though it's a repeat of the Wii U game, is considered the "Switch entry." It's time we move on from it.
