Can you start another affiliates store in the UK ?
I think I can, i'll see if I can look into it... we have a lot of viewers in the UK for sure, it's our second biggest market for viewers!
@@LyonsArcade I'd happily use it too if you do, for the rare occasions that I shop on amazon
My grandmother worked for Gottlieb until it switched to Premier Tech. Went to HS with the owners son, his Dad's black Ferrari had license plates that read TILT. Mom worked there, so did my Aunt and the guy she married too. Aunt and Unc went to work for Bally, she tested games. Remember all the parts coming home, even had drop downs for the 70s KISS game.
These machines are worth a fortune if sold to collectors.
Many of these collectors today have used these machines before.
What you're doing is giving us the pleasure of getting a taste.
Thank you for your contribution.
Thank you for your kind words Richard, and thanks for watching!
It's a pleasure watching someone bring these old EM's back to life who has a passion for the machines.
Thank you SteeVeeDee, we enjoy watching them come back to life, it's pretty fun helping it out a little bit...
Took an interest since a friend of mine is gifting me a Pinball Machine that they have had for ages that needs some attention. You did help explain just how many things function. It was a big help in explaining the device's that make these machine's operate. Thanks so very much.
Thank you Murray, just so you know the ones that are made by the same manufacturer work and are fixed about the same so you can figure it out if you find some videos of a certain brand (Gottlieb, Williams, Bally, etc.)
Absolutely enjoyed the video. Nice to hear LED’s are not your thing! Old School! Thanks!
Yup, only REAL bulbs here Kev! thanks for watching man!
A receptacle is the socket. That plug you have goes into the receptacle.
Great vid as always! 😎😎
Thanks Cliff, we appreciate you hanging out with us!
You have to appreciate the ingenious mechanics that went into these early pinball machines. Simply amazing.
Yeah, it's the most fun part of them, figuring out how they work and realizing there were minds behind that....
I know trained techs that do not have your schematic skills. Good work as usual!
Thanks, I appreciate that...
"we put new rubbers on it." (snicker). Yeah, they're usually only good for one go! GOT LEEEEEEEEEBBBBB! Just teasing, thanks for all the great videos! Please stay safe!
We’re always safe, we always use rubbers!
I'm in the GotLEB club FOREVER
I'm going to LED my GotLEB
Do not worry Ron. You have a fine and clear speaking voice. I'm English born, English educated and an England resident.
Yeah I never get the point, when I hear somebody with an accent I love it :)
I've wired locomotives for 22 years and these things look like fun
Theodore you ought to pick one up somewhere so you can play around with it!
Thanks for showing us the repair process on this table. Amazing! :)
Thanks for watching, Thomas!
If I ever end up down there, I definitely wanna visit! Definitely willing to make the trek from Philadelphia once everything settles with the virus and all.
Come on by Jetrulez15, see you soon!
wow people have too much time to correct others for no reason except that they feel so high and mighty. If you want to say "plus" then by all means. People need to chill out and worry about themselves. Keep up the good work. Saw this site from LGR
Thanks JP G we appreciate you watching :) Eventually I'll stop complaining about the complainers, LOL
One of my faves, the 4 player was called Orbit. We had both at the arcade I worked at in 1974...
How many microfarads you got in that broke Gottleeeb plug?
Love the videos Ron. Thanks for filming all of these! Almost halfway through binge watching your archives.
Thanks Tomatolicious, we appreciate you watching :) We've got a bunch more coming, maybe we'll outrun you????
I love the sarcasm yoy throw at the complainers ;).
I do love watching these repairs on the old EM Pinball machines. Gottlieb are one of my favourites with the older EM's that's for sure. They got a lot out of the technology that was available at the time.
I believe Gottlieb translates to "Goodlove" in English. I feel that is a good name for the company :). Happy to be corrected if my translation is wrong.
They say Gott Leeb i say Gott Lub it's all gravy baby LOL I'm going to start doing videos of all the weird comments I get, but Brendan you won't ever be on there because you're a good guy, we always look forward to seeing what you thought :) Thanks for watching, we'll see you on the next video man!
If it’s German, Gott is God. Gud is good
Then it might be God Love :) Even better
I forgotten the amazing sound of the game start, so cool. Saving these magic pieces of art should be rewarded 👍👏
They pay us 😀
😀😬
Great video. There are a lot of tips, tricks, and expert knowledge in this video. Whish I had this kind of resource and knowledge base to tap into when I tore down my first V8 when I was 15....Thank you, keep'em coming!
Thank you for watching Kromair22, we appreciate it :) We'll see you on the next one!
I have this exact machine and I’m going to rebuild/repair mine. This video will be a HUGE help! Thanks for the video!!
Good Craig, glad you found the video!
It's amusing that some people tend to focus on how to say or pronounce stuff correctly when that isn't even the point of the video. No one can be perfect as there are different ways to say it depending on what part of the world or universe you're from. It makes me smile that you would then proceed to "correct yourself" and how "they" say it should be pronounced. Keep on doing what you're doing Ron because your channel is my favorite repair go-to.
Thanks Gabz, we're going to all get there together even the haters are going to enjoy it eventually, LOL We'll see you on the next video!
I misread my notification. I thought this was going to be a Gottlieb Otter Space Pinball Machine.
Dam!
LOL We need more Otter games, that's for sure!
I would play the crap out of a space-otter-themed pinball machine.
when I do get to your area I will stop by........ Great Videos..... Thank You.. Pottstown Pa.
Come on down, Burt!
always brilliant from the uk loves this and the arcade electronic fixes clever stuff x
Thank you for watching Jon we appreciate it!
@@LyonsArcade I do have a question for you if trying to connect a scope to curtain parts of a circuit and it interrupts operation how do go about looking at the said outputs ? Buffer ?
I always watch your videos man, their lit. Probably my favourite repair channel right now.
Thanks HighMizai, we appreciate you hanging out with us!
Hopefully we ALL have. Great video. Looking forward to be seen "on the next one".
Thanks PezJohnson we appreciate you hanging out with us :)
Watching from upstate New York. Love the simplicity of these EM games, both in their mechanicals and in their play. Seems they kinda have a soul that the solid-state games lack.
I agree Chris, it's kind of like how time gives people Wisdom, time gives these old machines a little something too.
Man, those re-set sounds bring back memories!
Yeah they're very cool, we work on those here in a few minutes on the new video :)
Wish I could find me one of these! Thanks Joe!
They're around!
Here in Brazil it says: "Isso é muito massa !!!"
Cool very cool !
Thank-You very much. I enjoy the EM'S very much, along with your videos.
Thanks James Bond, I've watched all your movies too!
I remember when that game was still fairly new, one of my all time favs.
Very cool :) We've had it come by a couple times, they must have sold quite a few of them...
Say it how ever you want for whatever it is.. You're the one doing the work and you own this channel so let em cry
I think I'm just going to start saying it how I want and ban hammering anybody that mocks me, LOL Thanks for watching Chief we appreciate it!
once you have the jones plugs undone why not pull the bottom board out and set it across the cabinet? makes cleaning and adjusting (and filming!) so much easier on the back!
I have a strong back :)
Excellent information….I might be restoring a Ballys 1958 pinball machine. Hope it is worth it.
Love watching these repair videos. ...Oh and I'm with you. It's a dang plug. ... lol. Great content. Thanks for another great video.
Thanks Kay I appreciate it!
Watching from South Dakota! Thanks for the great videos!!
Thank you for watching Ed, we appreciate it!
From New Zealand - I’m really looking forward to the next video on this one. Lots of stuff to trouble shoot!
I’ve been watching these for a while now and am getting to the point I can predict the solutions which is great for working on my EM (Solar City)
David after awhile it gets really fun, it's kind of like a Sherlock Holmes mystery, because the nature of the things is they screw up almost randomly! It's not like, oh the flipper always stops, it's more like "why is that not giving me 500, and it only gives me 50?" then the next time it's "Why do I already have 10 points?" little random mysteries to track down, it's pretty fun. I can't imagine the thousands of machines that have probably been trashed because they had a little switch misadjusted somewhere....
Joe's Classic Video Games - I loved my first game because it had issues.... not giving 500 points was the first one as it happens. I was very pleased with myself for figuring out the 5 pulses from the scoring motor cog and sorting it out. I might be getting too cocky but I’d quite like to get my hands on one those machines someone was going to trash. Unfortunately the people in NZ who imported an EM know enough not to let them go! Next option is a system 11 - watching you working on the boards gives me more confidence than I should probably have! Thanks for all your great vids - entertaining and informative (plug/receptacle - who knew?!?!)
Watching from Charleston SC. Thumbs up and comments are currently huge effects on getting content suggested by the algorithm according to CZcams. Any sort of interactive points should be beneficial to the channel, as is a consistent upload schedule
That's kind of how I was thinking too, I think they're just looking for engagement.... thank you for watching David we really appreciate it! Take care down there in Charleston!
Top work as always. Machine looks nice.
Thanks OneSwitch, it's getting there!
Im gona save this one for tonight, Thank you :)
Thanks Peter, we appreciate it! See you then....
I just dont understand why people have to criticize how Ron pronounces one word or the other. If you dont like it, dont watch. The rest of us are here to hang out while he repair old arcade games, pinball machines and juke boxes. I have a background in electrical repair, but I'm not about to tell him that he is doing it wrong if it works when he is done..lol. as a side note, if it plugs into something else....its a plug 😁
I never could get why they tell me I'm wrong... when it works at the end of the video, either, LOL Thanks for watching Robert we appreciate it!
Greetings from WV. Love your channel. I grew up playing a lot of these older games and machines.
Hi Daniel! My two brothers and I were born in Kanawha City and grew up on the west side of Charleston, glad to see a mountaineer on here :) Did you ever hear of a Galaxian being inside the bowling alley down by the river in Charleston? My dad used to tell me about playing it all the time. See you on the next video!
Great Vid, Thank you for sharing, this vid has helped me very well. I just got a Gottlieb Quick Draw and have been going through it and learning how to work on it, Just about got it going. I was hoping you would share how you cleand and adjust the points, I have used an old points file I used to use on tuning old motorcycles and have used q tips and even contact cleaner to clean points but I sometimes found the q tip cant get in between some points without bending them some. Also I found contact issues with a piece of cotton coming off the q tip and getting stuck between the points. Thank you for these once again it has really helped as well as Facebook Pinball help..... I like working on these old Gotts and plan to get another one to work on....
Like you said I use an old points file or a really worn out (i.e. not very abrasive) file to clean them. You basically just don't want to go crazy on it and tear the points all up but you do need to get something in there that gets all the grease and oxidization off of it. Glad to hear you've got yours about there! Quick Draw is a great game.
The old timers used to say to clean the points with a business card, but that was back when they weren't very dirty yet, ha!
I'm watching from the UK
Thank you Robert!
I had another ass.... Gentlemen get mad at me when I called it a plug!! That cracked me up!!
LOL He's probably an alright guy when he's not on the internet, right???
Whats better than watching some classic Ronnie Repair Videos after a Donnie Stream? Come on, people!
You have to do it violently-that had me chuckling. We will see...next time. 1972 was an especially great year for all forms of entertainment.
Pretty much, hahaha. 1972 was a helluva year!
This made me reminisce about my Bally Time Zone 2-player. It was maliciously ruined. All I have left are the legs, and if I'm lucky, the documentation.
Yeah a little bit of water will do it everytime....
@@LyonsArcade it was a garden hose, so yeah that'll do it.
Yey! I love when you fix EMs!!
They're pretty fun to play with :) See you on the next video ReplaceableHak!
I definitely remember playing this game and I liked it ‼️®™️ 😎😎😎
I have one of these machines thats been in storage since the mid 80's. I was saving it for at retirement project :) I might have to get it out and see if I can make it work. I purchased it for $50 from a local arcade (funparlour as we called them here). It was just a small place with probably 2-3 pinball machines and one or two table top games. Think small coastal town in Australia type arcade. I did a bit of research about 10 years ago on restoring it but was advised not to turn it on as it might go up in a ball of flames due to the old wiring. Your video has encouraged me to just give it a go and see what happens. I will need to see if I can get a service kit for it sent to Australia and see what plastics etc need replacing. It was a fun machine to play but the ball seemd to love going down the guts.
Go for it man, people are worried about the wiring but there's a difference between old wiring and damaged wiring. Look at the cord and see if it's cut or in trouble, if so replace it just like the ones that's on it, if the machine is properly fused you shouldn't have anything to worry about. Personally on the older games I just unplug them or turn them off when not in use or I'm not around.
@@LyonsArcade just a question. do these old machines have capacitors? if I turn the power off and disconnect from the wall am I safe to touch everything electrical??
Do you ever see that old wiring insulation disintegrate? Replacing all the wiring would be a big job I imagine.
To be honest no it's usually still very useable. Sometimes rats eat it!
@@LyonsArcade Ok, sometimes I pull stuff out of old houses where it just crumbles away with the slightest movement. Hopefully you never run into it.
Great video.
Thanks Chris, we appreciate you checking it out!
Did you know we have a second channel? It's called "My Brother Donnie" and at the moment he and I are rehabbing an old torn to pieces Mobile Home we bought... multiple problems ensue :) I'll see you over there : czcams.com/channels/uDDNTFs-BLcNYq4DO-BYYA.html
Greeting from Germany ;-)
Hello Dieter, thank you for watching with us!
These machines tickle me. Because they are digital computers of a sort. The logic is just hardwired. Looking at that schematic reminds me a lot of industrial machines with old fashioned relay logic to control them. You just don't see that anymore, as PLC's and computers have rendered this kind of logic obsolete. But this is where computers came from.
@Joe's Classic Video Game They call me Brady Rein Rhino Hero.
Hello Rhino Hero!
Greetings from Brighton, UK. BTW, they are lamps, not light bulbs ;-) lol.
Lol that was a nice imitation but you didn’t have enough sneer in your voice hahaha. Thank you for watching As usual I appreciate it 😀
When I was an apprentice electrician many years ago, we were always told at college that "bulbs grow in the garden". Greetings from Brough near Hull in the UK. Looking forward to a shout out and pronouncification of that 😊
@@stuartfox3790 I was an apprentice engineer at a lighting manufacturer and was told the same on my first day. Still grates whenever I hear people say it. One time on a course there was a young hipster type chap who rejoiced the title "Lighting Designer' . When he asked about which 'bulb' he sould use a murmur when around the room. Fortunately the lecturer 'corrected' him before the 20 other people in the room did.
great looking playfield. it must have been broken for a long time to have so little war
Some of these Gottliebs had really hard finishes on the playfield and they hold up pretty well but you may be right, it may have broken really early and sat in storage for awhile...
Hi watching from UK.
Hello there!
im watching from australia
Thank you Gregory, we appreciate you hanging out with us!
Hey Joe! I love these videos. I've been watching them for hours while I work my day job (don't tell the boss... heh). Anyway, when you say that you're cleaning the Jones Plugs, Relays, and such, what do you use to clean them? And how do you clean them?
@Joe's Classic Video Games Johnny Nero Action Hero will be the next video.
I hope so!
Love the vids hate the ads.😜
My mistakes Joe, sorry for the mix up…my bad,
Relay coils show 15.7 ohms
Bell coils are +/- 3.7 ohms
I will order coils per your help
great vid but need more light when filming
ok i'll go back and redo it
Hey Joe I'm having trouble with my Cleopatra 1972 everything works but the coils or target bank reset I'm not sure what else to do any info would help it turns on all lamps work LEDs work works in free play just no coils fire it's really stressful thanks trent from down under cheers
Got-lib...Got-leeb....never heard of 'em.
It has something to do with Mozart :)
I prefer traditional bulbs in my pinball machines also.
It is not a power receptacle, it is a plug! :-)
I agree Col Mornane:)
Hehe Gutlib. There's another CZcamsr I watch who pronounces Bally as Ball-e
Good :)
What do you use to clean the relays? Love your videos!!
Your in Rockhill? They bypassed that didn't they? You know, I rode it into Raliegh, all across Caroline, we stopped in Charlotte, bypassed Rockhill we never were a minute late. Words from the late great Chuck Berry! He seems to fit into the pinball scene quite aptly, is it the same Rockhill?
The same one! Elvis dropped that line out of the song though, LOL
"Feel free to roast me in the comments" 🤣🤣. I always watch you with my headphones on and make my wife jump when i literally laugh out load 🤣
I throw out a little bait everyonce in awhile, so I can mow the lawn, you get what I mean??? :)
@@LyonsArcade 🤣
19:03 Broke, broken, broketud. I will accept them all.
I prefer Broke eded. Done brokeadeaded that one!
@@LyonsArcade you done brokeadeaded how many pieces of glass before ya finally fixed that door winduh?
Tomato momatto , men we all know what joe meant. People have to relax a bit about grammar. Just be thankfull he makes these vids
You left out broked, and borked
Joes Classic, Does all EM pinball games have the Control Band reset coil connect to the 120 AC plug? because I thought I have seen the control bank reset coil in the score motor assembly. The Control Bank Reset coil is connected to which relay switches? The Schematic shows the relay switches names but the schematic doesn't say which relay switches the control band reset coil will turn on or off, so its confusing me. You mentioned the End of Stroke switches on the Score Reels. When the End of stroke switch is Closed what happens? when the End of stroke switch OPENS what happens?
Can you tell me what you use to clean the relays and Jones plugs and how you do it?? Thanks!! I’m restoring my grandpas 1974 Gottlieb Skyfall
I'm kind of surprised the Gottlieb machines are your favorite because their schematics seem more complicated to decipher. The other pinball machine companies schematics seem clearer. But you answered a question I had about your favorite company that makes pinball machines. I think you did-lol. I'm curious do you prefer Bally, Midway, Sega, Atari or Williams arcade games to play and or work on? Man, you're always good with your humor in these stressful times.
I know what you mean man, I hope you get out of prison soon! They're making it so hard on everybody financially, it's not really helping anymore.... My favorite arcade games to work on are EASILY the Atari games, they're just so cool to troubleshoot and the schematics all make sense. I have a soft spot for Nintendo too though. The Gottlieb ones it's hard to get the schematics for FREE but you can always buy them for about 10 bucks from PBResource.com, and they're very nice, one big sheet like the originals. My favorite pinballs are the weird 80's Gottliebs... but I like about all of them from any of the companies. I'd love to get some Atari pinball machines in, they're weird ducks and they only made a couple. See you on the next video!
4-player version was called ‘Orbit’ (1971)
That's the one!
Hi Joes l like so much your videos , Question can you ship pinballs to Puerto Rico.
Thanks for watching Dennis! Unfortunately we don't ship, we just sell them here locally... if you set up a moving company to come get it though we do that.
@@LyonsArcade thanks , i'll keep watching your videos and learning
New Zealand :)
Thanks for watching, Steve!
Yes, you are the world's best you.
(Or a very close 2nd)
There’s some really talented people out there!
love this game!!!....will watch this video!!!! "Gaaahtlllleeeeeebb!!" lol
Ha, thanks man. Thankyavurymutch!
space pinball 1972 good time
Thank you for watching Wilder, we appreciate it!
Got a Gottlieb drop a card , lights up but does not start up . Any suggestions
I didn't realise Al Gore was into repairing pinball machines.
I’ve had a lot of people call me a lot of shitty things but this is probably the worst of all time
@@LyonsArcade Hahaha. I'm sorry. I truly am.
Say GOTTLIEB however the hell you want! :-) Also, it *IS* a f'ing plug!
I need my centipede machine fixed. I think there’s a loose wire. I also need the Stargate machine fixed. We don’t know what’s going on
I have a extra card for ya if needed for the right front
The line cord receptacle is in the wall not the machine. I wonder how someone could confuse the difference.
Can you share what you charged for this work? If not, can you share total hours of labor?
Sure, we charge by the job not by the hour, and this one was $400 total... we got it working again, and cleaned up and rerubbered the playfield (we show in another video)....
Hello Joe, can you direct me to a reliable source to purchase two R 5143 coils..The good one I have tests out at 15.7 Ohms. Thank You
I have a pinball machine spinout and it's stuck in the match cycle we finished a game it started the match cycle doesn't stop do you have any idea what the problem may be
Hey Joe what do you know about a 80's Gottlieb 'Bad Girl's pinball machine??
I know a lot about that one... czcams.com/video/nLMAtDeNY9c/video.html
If your recepicle is lose just replace it by a plug
What's a plug?????
Joe's Classic Video Games a connector of some sort i think.
17:17 Assh.... Gentleman indeed.
He was a special one :)
21:05 You said doo doo
