  • Hello today I am sharing my most loved makes from the Tilly and The Buttons Books, these are my favourite Tilly makes that get the most wear. I have made nearly all the items from all three books but some are loved more than others. Have you made any? If so which are your favourites I would love to know. Please comment below and of course like and subscribe if this is for you. Thank you for watching.

Aside from the Freya top, I have made several of these with differing necklines, my favourite is a hack of the Stella Hoodie. I have made this a couple of times as a casual dress but left off the hood and drafted a neck facing to replace it. One version has a straight hem and the other one a "shirt tail" hem. They can be worn loose or belted and are very different in character, as one is in a light coloured fun print and the other a dark stripe.

Hi Dianne, I brought the book after you showed it on your othere chsnnel I have made the frayer top a couple of times and I have then lenthened it to the knee turning it into a dress. At the begining of the year I cut out the stella hoodie and joggers twice ready to sew for this coming winter ( altough it is like early autum with the change inthe westher) I would lime to make the joni dress but concered as I an big busted , but I will maje it and pass it on to my daughter if it is not a good fit. My confidence has grown since finding your channel your easy to watch and explan well so I woulf like to make all in the clothes in the tilly and button stretch book. Have a good week. Susan 🌸🌼🌻

I am awaiting the Make It Simple book from the library and will copy patterns that I want to make. I bought the other 2 books. I agree with the Delphine skirt, it stuck out far too much. Enjoying your new channel and of course your sew

I have her stretch book and I've made loads of Freya and the frankie , Stella joggers and hoodie. Also I've made the alexa jumpsuit in 2 versions. I put some wide legged cropped bottoms from the new look 6446 which turned out great. I have the Iris knickers too, I've made loads of those Dianne. Also the tabitha tee shirt too! I got the pattern free in a magazine. I've lent the stretch book to my sister and she's made loads too.
I've surprised myself now I've listed everything 😅.

Great to see your favourite Tilly makes Dianne. I've just made the Safiya trousers from Make it Simple which were a great fit straight from the pattern. Next time I think I'll narrow them a bit as they are very wide and floaty - more likely to be worn on hot days! Nice to see you back in the sewing room 😊xx

Yes, I’d love to watch a sew along for the dress you’re wearing. I have the Stretch book and have made 3 Freya tops and a Freya dress. I’m about to start a Stella hoodie too. I love the Joni dress, but the twist looks complicated.

I've just found your new channel.
I have two of Tillys books but I've only made maybe one pattern. I was a fairly new sewer back then and I'd never gotten back to them. I think the styling puts me off a bit, however everyone who has made clothes from these books has done a great job.

    • @Dianne-ut5vr
      @Dianne-ut5vr  Před rokem +1

Hi there , I love the styling in the books to look at but it is not really for me either to wear. I think there is too much pastel going on in some of the imagary but the styles are great made up, have a go using your colours and fabrics. Thank you for commenting.☺

My first ever make was the Coco. So pleased with it I went back to the shop, got same material in another colour. It was too tight?? Couldn't wear it. Never could work out why. I've just cut out the Stella hoodie

I’ve only made the Baseball tee shirt and it wasn’t a great success so I’ve never worn it. I just wasn’t happy with the v insert. I have made the Agnes top which I didn’t like much( first jersey garment) the indigo which I gave to my goddaughter so it sounds as if I don’t like her patterns but I do,
I made the Bettine dress and as a top umpteen times for me as well as others. I just loved it, the making and the fit. Similarly I’ve made the Safira trousers 5 times which I also love. Your dresses look nice but I’ve never fancied that style for me.

Hi Ruth I have made Baseball t shirt too and I do like it bit wore it more as pj top. I have a thing about those v inserts too, I always wonder the point of them? I do find the fit pretty good on her patterns though.☺

@@Dianne-ut5vr Yes the sizing is very clear and you know where you are with it. Just the indigo was tighter on the bodice so I cut a bigger size. It was me with the v insert. Stitchy bee made a super one.😊

I’m afraid I was disappointed not to see whole complete garments There is a great view of the upper walls of your sewing room but not enough of the garments. It would also be great to see the garments being worn. A nice informative video but I really missed not seeing the complete garments in a wearing situation. Even inserted pictures of garments being worn would be lovely. Perhaps you might consider featuring this in future videos. I look forward to seeing more of you!

Hi Dianne, I would be interested in knowing your local fabric shop as I live not that far from Sheffield, if you feel you are able to share. I'm always looking for fabric shops where I can go and 'feel' the fabric, rather than just always relying on buying online. No problems, if not. Thanks.

Hi Sharon. Of course, mine is Happy Hare in Chapeltown Sheffield, they do mainly craft fabric but I also make clothes with that sometimes. They stock a small amount of dressmaking fabric too, an aamazing selection of craft cottons though, I made a dress with hares on in craft cotton I will wear it in the next video for you to see.☺
