@RichieWilliams97 and? Just bc it sounds similar doesn't mean they copied, and so what? Because if in correct, most artists where and are still inspired from canon in d, so doesn't that mean everyone's copying canon in d? So I'd suggest being quiet before you embarrass yourself, because there are a lot of songs that sound similar, and there not the same, I have good ears idk about you but like that sounds nothing like it, there complete different notes and I just, your basically embarrassing yourself lmfao

I mean stuff like that can happen without even being done on purpose. If you end up with the same chord progression and come up with a great strumming there are chances someone have done it before. It happened to me once, I wrote a song and weeks later I heard a song on Spotify that was literally the exact same guitar playing (I had never heard the song before) so even if it would’ve been 100% the same thing, sometimes it’s literally just life going like "Hmm, I decided your song already exists"

Dawg, this chord progression is NOT exclusive to Nirvana OR Green Day. This is literally just 90% of all Punk Songs made from 1970s-Today. I know songs that still use this chord progression. It only sounds similar cuz it's in the same key, but it's stylized completely differently. Bang Bang takes the chord progression and makes it into it's own thing, plus the chord progression changes throughout the song.

Nirvana themselves copied many artists though. Kurt even admitted it. Come As You Are was a direct copy of of Killing Joke's song Eighties and even The Damned's Life Goes On. Cobain didnt want it released as a single in fear of a lawsuit. He ended agreeing to release the song because he felt it had huge commerical potential.
"Following the album's release, the band and its management company debated whether to release "Come as You Are" or "In Bloom" as the next single from the album due to Cobain's concerns over similarity of the former with Killing Joke song "Eighties" (1984). After some persuasion by the management company, Cobain agreed to release "Come as You Are" as the second single because of its commercial potential. Killing Joke were upset over the song, and there were rumors that a lawsuit had been filed over the song, though the suit never materialized. Killing Joke guitarist Geordie Walker was said to be upset about the whole situation, and he felt that Nirvana handled the matter poorly. Similarities between "Come as You Are" and "Life Goes On" by the Damned have also been noted."
