I have thought long and hard about what I want to do with my life and becoming a park ranger is that. Money isn’t everything to me, so as long as I can live comfortably and do what I love is exactly how I want to spend my life
this guy isnt talking about becoming a park ranger, if you wanna do that then you need some sort of education like a bachelors in criminal justice or environmental studies. This guy is simply showing you how to work in a national park, like a cook, caterer, maintenance worker, and usually at some sort of lodging or hotel.
I’m going to start applying tonight. I really need a change in lifestyle. Being out in nature really helps with depression. I hope one day I get hired at a spot and hopefully get to meet you one day. You’re my hero man :)

I'm so happy I didn't so many of my friends have been sucked into massive debt and a scary brutal future of working a job they don't like and paying off debt..kinda reminds me of a modern slavery. Me I waited a couple years and I grew up and worked on myself mind/body/etc now ik what I want to do with my life and will be going to school for a bit to hopefully earn a education so I can fulfill my divine dream life haha 😄
I started working for NPS as a seasonal worker then transitioned into a career where I've transferred to different parks four times!! Great opportunity!! The world is not as scary as you think it is!!!!!!

I’m not happy working as a CNA and I can tell I won’t be happy if I continue on thinking I’ll eventually be happy as a nurse. Before spending $25k+ on my associates in nursing, i am realizing lots about what the healthcare field actually is. It is tearing me down! I need to get out. But, I love nature! I love the idea of being on my own, and traveling. I am going to definitely going to put this in the works
That's relatable for me as well. Took an internship at a hospital to help people, and I got a real wake-up on what the healthcare field is really like. Working at a national park sounds great 🌲
Applied for the youth internship program for evergreen in Yosemite. I missed my window for this year because they only hire interns for that program from March - September but hopefully having put in an early application for next year works out in my favor and come next year I hear something back!

I use to work for Petrafied YCC and it was hard labor but it paid good enough and it was close i wanted to work for Grand Canyon one day or maybe Forestry idk I will have to decide one day =w=
Delaware North tried to trademark Yosemite's historic names of the hotel and a few other things and the names actually changed for a while, but they lost the lawsuit, and we got our parks names back. Corporate greed is insane. I'm hopefully going to work at the clinic in the park soon. It's the only clinic run by the gov't in a national park and they see anything you can think of when it comes to injuries. Very unique experience.

I'd guess probably. The listings are just basic jobs in and around National Parks. I saw stuff about electricians, cooks, waiting tables, just about anything. Year round jobs will depend on the park. Yellowstone and Glacier are very seasonal, but Grand Canyon and Zion are more year round.

There is little or no experience required. Most national park jobs are entry level. The starting salary varies but expect to make somewhere close to the local minimum wage

The idea of traveling and working in these parks has intrigued me for years. My question for you is this: Am I too old? As in- Am I going to be the oldest person working and living among all 20 year olds? I worry about getting somewhere and feeling out of place because I waited too long to do something like this... I started working at National parks when I was 35. Yes, I was older than most people there but there were a few other people in their 30's and 40's. And I never really felt out of place. I just ended up making alot of younger friends lol.

It "can" help but it could also be a very expensive waste of a degree if it doesn't pan out. If you want to go anywhere with the park service the #1 rule is be willing to be mobile and move around. Thousands of jobs are posted on USAJOBS every year if you shotgun it and apply to as many as you can and just get a foot in the door.
If you grew up in nature would a degree be genuinely necessary? I performed multiple walkabouts growing up on reservation so I’m more familiar with nature than I am humans.

The answer is know somebody. The federal government ONLY hires friends and family. IF for some reason, they don’t have a friend or family to hire, a veteran will get it. If you’re not one of those three things, you won’t get it.

I usually start applying for summer jobs in January or February.
