    Any updates on the 550 EPOS performance?

  • @dontbanmebrodontbanme5403

    While I guess an install video is fine, nobody really wants to see that. What we want to see his how does it perform on hills? Does it provide a decent cut? Where does it struggle? How long does it cut before needing to charge? How long does it take to charge? These are the things that will let us know if we should get it or not.

    its ridiculous you have to drive the mower around to map the boundary when a cheaper DJI drone can fly an automated route just by marking/ drawing the route on a map (satellite image or terrain map)

    Does this reference station work through concrete buildings or houses?

    Is the mower able to work on the backside of that building? What I am trying to figure out is if the mower needs line of sight to the reference point? Or, if near line of sight would work.

      The automower does not require line of sight to the reference station. The reference station and the automower both receive gps signal. The reference station is there to provide gps error corrections to the automower (it uses RTK technology), which it sends using radio frequency (RF). RF can go through buildings. The RF range for the reference station is 500m or greater than 5 football fields. I have my 550H EPOS mowing both mine and my neighbor’s lawn (at times the RF signal is going through two houses).

    Did it mow tight against the side of the building opposite the reference station? It seems like it would not have a line of sight on that side of the building.

      The GPS Base and Rover don't have to see each other by line-of-sight, but they should both have a sufficient number of satellites visible to both in order to get a good position. This is why your GPS Base should be mounted in a place with a clear, unobstructed view of the sky because you want to see as many satellites as possible, because your Rover Mower is going to be going into areas with less than optimal views of the sky due to buildings, vegetation, etc.

    the size of these units is disappointing. they would be great for maintaining a sports field but you need 3 for one field!. it is smaller than the push mower I use at my house!

    Did you notice any difference in radio communication with the automower if the antenna is over the grass or over the building?

    • @red_shovel
      @red_shovel  Před rokem

      No, the mower just needs a clear line of sight between the bay station and the mower at all times.
