An interesting bit of info. In the in-game History of Resident Evil in Resident Evil 5, it mentions that Nicholai takes the last helicopter. While that still doesn't really 100% guarantee he escaped the city, it is interesting they even bothered to mention that. Also, during the final confrontation in RE3make, one can see another helicopter present in the background. I like to think he survived, I've always been a fan of Nicholai's character
I'm fine with him being dead though since he's super one note and there are multiple outcomes in the game where he ends up dead, the best ending being one of those assuming we treat the best ending in 3 as the canon outcome.

I like to think Jill shot him out of the sky with a rocket launcher for meddling in her and Carlos' escape. That or he gets bodied by Nemesis for getting in his way.
Nicholai is a douche anyway.
His character is way too much of a card-carrying villain in RE3 remake. He lacks any subtlety or professionalism unlike the original. Its just, 'haha I am evil [troll face]'. Not even the same character honestly.
The Remakes are considered 'reimaginings' or a separate timeline.
In the original canon the canonical ending to RE3 is Barry saving Jill and Carlos. Nicholai survives as he makes appearances via voice and file after Raccoon City's destruction.

We can technically assume that Luis survived as well since he was part of the team that worked on creating Nemesis.
Hold up. Wasn't Nemesis a product of Umbrella Europe? Or was that changed in the Remake continuity?
Luis would've been part of Umbrella Europe and have little reason to go anywhere near the US. Nemesis was considered a failure but sent out anyways for combat data against remaining STARS members.
At the same time, the NE-alpha Project was at least a decade old by that point, Luis would've been just another extra pair of hands on a doomed project. There is also no remake "continuity" or alternate timeline, 4's remake only expanded on Luis' in the little ways that don't contradict or overwhelm what is already canon. in this case, Luis has guilt by association and indirectly blood on his hands.

@@Kira22558 he was recruited by them for his talents in biology for a time. When Umbrella began collapsing even faster, like many other researchers and scientists, it'd make sense for him to feasibly steal part of the research that helped create Nemesis/NE-alpha and re-apply that to Plaga research, where he'd be more likely a project lead rather than another mook with no say in the matter.
The mayor of Raccoon City said to have escaped the city in the early stages out the outbreak.
In yoko's outbreak file 2 ending it shows her in a lawsuit against unbrella and is later proven true so yoko survived

You might have to update this video after Death Island. I hear the film's villain was a former UBCS in Raccoon during the outbreak, but it's not out so we can't confirm or deny yet.
2:56 If I remember correctly there's a street in Resident Evil 3 with a crashed police van with a bunch of police zombies. In that group there is a lone blond female zombie. That could be a coincidence but it would be one hell of a coincidence.

I always figured Vladimir's copter pilot was Patrick, Spencer's personal butler you find dead in re5.

I got to say your suggestion about remaking outbreak is pretty great I think a lot of us fans have been saying it for a while and like seriously I've been trying to make this multiplayer thing work for the better part of a decade if we count umbrella corps so why not do the thing the fans have actually asked them for

Nicholai Ginovaef* is confirmed to have survived in a file found in RE Survivor, where the last date he signs is October 6th (5 days after Raccoon City's destruction)
You totally forgot Rebecca, who got out of racoon after Leon and Claire arrived but before Carlos and Jill left. (This being cannon via "Rebecca's report" and her presence in the later timeline RE movies including dead island) Billy Cohen is left ambiguous like all RE side characters.
I'm pretty sure she was already gone before the outbreak.
@The4thSnake idk why they shaft her but she was also among the group that confronted irons in the RPD but it's for sure she was among the first to GTFO Racoon city. You may be right that she left before everything went south because Jill and Carlos were among the last to leave.
In RE3R, while Nicholai was left for dead, there was another chopper on the Helipad near the back

Entertaining vid. Also yes I dont get why capcom doesn't try outbreak again. The main reason it didn't explode back then was because online on consoles was still in its infant stage. Now it can easily be done. We dont want PVP games just do outbreak again.
Sadly they'll never remake outbreak. Rebreak? Outmake? Either way as awesome as it would be, I have no faith capcom would bother.

they already retconned how brad died, for one, and probably retconned re5's confirmation of how nicholai escaped. there's other retcons i just can't recall at the moment

@@The4thSnake i'm still pessimistic about it all, maybe part of it is how re3 remake was done so dirty, the original was my second favorite in the series. I'm afraid they'll do my #1 (re5) just as badly or worse in a remake, so I'm very cautious. there have indeed been retcons but maybe they haven't been significant yet besides the saddler bit
Chris, Barry, Rebecca and Wesker can also be counted if you want to get technical since they escaped before the outbreak and thus the explosion, but then we're getting into semantics.

Barry ending in RE3 I believe is still considered the canon ending by Capcom, as RE3R is confirmed alternate timeline as is RE2R
I mean it was pretty obvious the remakes (re2 - re4 )were a separate timeline. Only remake that's cannon is re1 remake

It isn't canonical. Those events occur if the US military had not glassed Racoon city off of the face of the map. And she'd be too powerful, unable to be killed off permanently and keep returning ala Sigma From Mega Man X.

On the subject of REmaking the Outbreak titles. I would think it also relatively easy to redux the Dead Aim/Gun Survivor titles using the RE7/8 engine? No more effort involved than any other REmake they have done lately.

Resident Evil: Resistance not canon so those characters don't exist to the lore similar to the Umbrella team in Operation Raccoon City and as for the Outbreak characters I feel like all of them survive the events of Raccoon City feel like Alyssa being referenced in RE7 was a nod to all the Outbreak characters survival at least.
Resistance isn't canon so I guess none of the characters are relevant, I doubt Nicholai was actually participating to the project for example, even Alex Wesker who is the only one to make an appearance in another entry.
You don't have to assume something's not canon because the remakes made it different, *the RE Engine Remakes are NOT canon.*
