- If you could trade one of Djokovic's trophies for an Olympic gold medal, which one would you choose? Novak has won 98 titles in his career. After considering all of them, I identified only one of Novak’s trophies that I would trade for an Olympic gold.

The only time Olympic tennis became “important” is when it became the only semi-significant title that Djokovic HASN’T won. Also, combine the fact that Novak is visibly passionate about playing for his country, it became perfect fuel for his haters as the one that slipped away. What’s interesting is that Federer never won a gold in singles. Yet, I never heard this argument against him…ever?
I’ve watched tennis for many, many years. I genuinely do not recall the Olympics ever being a big deal, nor did I see it being a big “stain” on Novak’s legacy. It only started happening in recent years, when it became inevitable that Djokovic would surpass Federer and Nadal in overall career accomplishments. I was a Djokovic fan in 2016, and I barely cared after he lost to Del Potro. All I cared was he completed tennis and held all 4 GS at once.
The Olympic is the only event that I don't watch, even with Nole.
you must have not have been around when people were actually poiting that out about Federer. They did stop after the 2012 as Federer didn't really compete in it (always been injured). Moreso, in the GS race he was the GOAT until the recent years so it wasn't really important from that point of view.
The Olympics are not about points or money, it is pride, it is every spokesperson dream to play for their country, to win a medal for the country. I don't think fans'opinions matter, it is what Nole thinks, if he doesn't care, he wouldn't have participated in every Olympics he is qualified for.

@@mrbenwong86 you are correct, but important for Novak doesn't translates as important in Tennis world, and is incomparable as importance to Grand Slam event. It is only harder to get because of it's rare occurrence: once every 4 year, compared to 4 each year. So the change of the player to not be in shape for this particular event is much greater. But only because it is harder to win, doesn't mean it is more important.
Personally, I would trade the Tel Aviv 250 title 😂

Before he even started his quarterfinal vs Sinner, everyone was already talking about Sinner-Alcaraz semifinal, but Medvedev won and they were all paralyzed with shock. Same thing happened in 2023 US Open when everyone talked about Alcaraz vs Djokovic in the final but then Medvedev made it to the final. I personally think this is disrespectful to Medvedev.

No, that is not a deal. Master titles are way more valuable than Olympic gold. All titles are off the table. Whether he wins a gold or not is absolutely irrelevant to his status as the best tennis player ever. He is ahead of Nadal not only by comparing titles, but also pure human qualities. Nole speaks several languages, treats everyone with respect, fights for other players rights, and his mental strength on and off the court is absolutely unmatched.

I wouldn't trade any past titles for Olympic Gold, but probably would trade future titles. Obviously an Olympic Gold will never be as big as a slam, atp finals, or masters, but at this stage of his career, he's already locked up being the GOAT, so I would love to see him win something he hasn't won before over extending some of his records that won't be touched anytime soon.

The Sportsmanship Award crap is annoying too. Rennae Stubbs said Novak would never win it because he breaks racquets and has outbursts on court... but Federer won it in 2009 even though he broke a racquet against Novak in Miami and swore at an umpire in the US Open final.
