    I have 63 sales in my first month as of yesterday, and 21 5 ⭐ reviews, and I watch all of your videos....soooo....that pretty much speaks for itself
    , and I'm not even in print on demand or digital sales, but the principles I learn in all your videos apply to business in general, so thank youf or that! ❤❤

    I think your “unpopular” opinions are invaluable! It’s so hard to find good quality, actionable content for new Etsy sellers. Most people on CZcams are trying to sell the “super easy, passive income in 5 minutes a day and become 6 figure seller overnight” bs or their course which is the “roadmap” to how they became successful 8 years ago.
    Your concise, detailed and actionable content is refreshing and I love that you aren’t sugar coating the hard work required or that the subpar effort won’t cut it in this market.
    I started a digital download store 4 months ago and I’m just about to hit my first 1000 sales with only 150 listings. I know I couldn’t have gotten this far without good branding and an aggressive ad strategy so thank you 🙏🏻

    I really appreciate your approach because because you emphasize self responsability in the success of your store. You need to constantly look at the quality of your competitors listing and always try to be at least on par. This requires consistent work and lot of hours. Success is your responsibility and it is not guaranteed. A lot of people put in 5% of the work that is actually required and then point the finger at everyone else (preferably the Etsy Platform) instead of at themselves. A successful business runs on the principles of merit and not entitlement. Bravo for this video❤

    This is such a great video - every single point. I really think these are considered 'unpopular' opinions because people just don't want to hear it. I've been on Etsy since 2007, I help out in the forums almost every day, there's soooooo many sellers out there who complain and complain that their shops are dying, but they don't run professional shops - bad photos, out-of-style products, no returns, no branding... Sellers who expect to just turn up and sell are going to find more than ever this year that it's not a strategy Etsy will reward you for.

      This is not true and I am so tired of people blaming sellers. Etsy is just not a good place to sell because it's oversaturated and people love stealing other people's ideas. And videos like this just draw in people so that the content creator makes money off of views. We know business doesn't grow overnight but there's a difference between slow growth and nothing at all. There's people out there putting in a lot of work into their work and art and are getting nothing. We need to stop all that.

    • @penelopesparrow
      @penelopesparrow Před 4 měsíci

      @@theunicornishere etsy is crowded yes, but 99% of the time the problem is with the store. Sometimes a seller can put hours and hours of work into their shop, but if that work is on the wrong thing then it's wasted energy. I see it on the forums every single day - targeting overdone niches is not the only bad move, its also about quality of design and presentation. Etsy is not a place where you can just show up and win, but there are plenty of under-supplied niches people could go for. I've identified at least 4 of them in my own research, just a matter of picking which one I'd enjoy most.

    You don’t come across as cutthroat; you come across as knowledgeable and professional. However, the “side hustle” approach is often also interesting to people at another stage of life. Let’s call it a “retirement project.” You are young, so your game plan and energy level will be different from an older person who has their nest egg safely tucked away. Success will look different for those people based on their objectives, which may be entertainment - a hobby that pays for itself, to help a grandchild with college, or, in my case, my Etsy shop proceeds are 100% a fundraiser for a nonprofit street dog and cat rescue shelter and spay/neuter initiative I co-founded. People like us are at a point in life where we are over the daily grind and burning the candle at both ends. Now it’s more about pleasure, learning something new, and charitable work than running on overdrive to squeeze out every extra buck. I enjoy learning from channels like yours because I was a scientist in a former life and never studied business or marketing.

    You hit the nail on the head. POD and Digital doesn't work on Etsy now because there is no barrier to entry. PLUS spy tools make people become human xerox machines, copying everything they see with no originality. Yet they happily keep putting in hours and weeks and months of work for no sales. You can make Shopify work if you can generate your own traffic. (Most just don't want to learn how to do that because they're stuck in that Etsy dream mode.) :)

    I’m in the handmade sector (since the beginning on Etsy) & just dove into POD last year. I’ve been doing Etsy full time since 2009 so I definitely hear you about people stealing your designs. Temu stole my designs & my photos that featured ME in them not to mention all the other sellers that stole my designs & several that literally copied & pasted my item descriptions, my shop announcement, etc. You definitely need to remove the emotions out of it to succeed.

    It doesn’t matter anymore. Have you heard Etsy now takes Chinese payments which means that we will have Chinese people opening Etsy stores pretty soon, like Temu. I watched CZcams video last night from one of the Etsy gurus here on CZcams.

    • @penelopesparrow

      Don't listen to the drama farmers. Etsy has always allowed Chinese shops, this doesn't change anything. Up until now those shops have had to use PayPal, now they can use etsy payments. That's the only difference. It won't 'open the door', the door is already open by way of etsy failing to police their own policy. Beware of etsy 'experts' just looking for clicks and listen to people who give info and advice, not just crisis speculation.

    Hi Hannah, I loved watching your video it's provided me with invaluable information. I am setting up a print on demand store on Etsy. I've started putting my first listing and a little unsure so I hope you could advise me. In the Core Details the item listing page it asks "Who Made it." I put I made it ( I created the design for the t shirt), however it then asks what is it? I can't put finished product as it's just a design for an item of clothing. The only other choice is " A supply or tool to make things?, I want to do this right so your expertise on this would be very welcome. I'm from across the pond in the UK.

    • @EcomHannah
      @EcomHannah  Před 3 měsíci

      It would be made to order and a finish product since the item the customer is getting will be a finished product :) be sure to add in there you are using a production partner which is your print provider , keep up the good work

    Regarding the best selling design story, would you recommend trademarking adding a copyright to your design or would that be too much of a hassle? If yes, then are you able to still do that after the whole Amazon debacle?
