There was a lot of great 80s debut albums including bands like Def Leppard with High and Dry, ACDC Back in Black Gun N Roses Appetite for destruction..etc. but Tesla did 2 Albums that in my opinion with Mechanical residence and great radio controversy are both tuff to beat! Most underrated band to come out of the 80s by far! First time I heard mechanical residence it blew me away. They in my opinion never made a bad album, and bust a nut just proves how great of band they are!

I remember in high school, my friend/guitar nemesis showed me this after we started hanging out, and the riff at 3:46 blew me away. So simple, but one of the most intense heaviest riffs I've ever heard. That's when I fell in love with tesla. Obviously came back to listen to this on the way to work. Pumped
It's too bad Tommy couldn't ever get his life straightened out, because this band has not been the same without him. Tommy was the metal guy in the band, and when that side was mixed with Frank's bluesy side, it was pure magic. MAKIN' MAGIC !!!! No disrespect to Dave Rude, but Tommy was the man.

But unfortunately for some the truth is hard to accept. I agree 100% without Skeoch this band isn't the same. It's all about chemistry and while Dave Rude is a phenominal guitar player all he's really doing is a Tommy impersonation.
Maxharddrive64 trust me I'm not knocking Dave one bit, I am a guitarist myself. I still love the band but tommy deserves his due as,well as everyone despite any personal disagreements within the band past n present. Call it whatever you want, it's still just music to me.

"Forever more" and "Simplicity" are great albuns, Tommy was a perfect match with Frank, but unfortunely he had a drug addiction, and couldn't control it while being on tour

im 44 and learned every song from these guys from mechanical to reel. Tommy is the man....NO ONE CAN EVER TAKE HIS HISTORY FROM US.

Yeah, I went to see Def Leppard in 87, had never heard of Tesla up to that point. Easily my all time favorite band now.
