A documentary about jazz pianist, composer, and teacher Barry Harris. Much of the film focuses on Barry's teaching at the Jazz Cultural Theatre in New York, an institution he helped found to preserve the great jazz tradition. The film also includes scenes of Barry as a student himself, grappling with a Chopin prelude; an appearance on a TV talk show; and a 1983 New York concert featuring the Monk tunes "Epistrophy," and "Ruby My Dear." Throughout it all, we see his joy in music, teaching and life
