Dpoy is the most defensively impactful player in the nba. When wemby is on the floor the Spurs gave a top 5 defense in the league. When hes off they have the dead-last worst. He's been leading the league in stocks for months now. Literally there's no argument against him.
And they’re dead last in the conference he’s definitely a bust
A bust? Get the fuck out, it's year one. He has got better as the season has gone on. The first 30 games to now is night and day. If he's still dead last in year three then you can call him a bust.
LeBron James and AD have barely made the play in tournament most years in this conference. They've been hanging on for two years, and missed out the year before.

not once has rudy's "defense" translated to play offs. these type of centers are better for regular season when teams are not really running scheme or playing at the same pace they do in play offs. when rudy faces elite guards and wings, they targets him in pick and roll each time and cook his asss.

you’re yapping. none of what you said is substantial. you can’t seriously be arguing that the dpoy is an individual award because it has the word player in it. mvp also has player in it. team record matters because a player’s supposed defensive prowess doesn’t mean anything if he can’t hold the other team under his own score. i agree that wemby should be dpoy; he’s on a minute’s restriction and is surrounded by complete shitters. but he’s also had a lot of successful games this season, and it’s clear that if the spurs weren’t purposefully tanking they’d do a lot better. you can’t completely ignore team success in anything.

It's why Rudy Gobert has been deemed the favourite. I think Anthony Davis should be in the running for it, but Rudy is on a team near the top of the conference, while AD is on a team in the play in places. So yeah, record absolutely matters.

Team record should not matter for an individual award if the criteria between two players is night and day different. One is playing 1v5 and the other has 3-4 defensive studs around him every night.

It's not very hard to block shots when you're 7' 4". That's why AD is a better defensive player than Wemby - he's 6' 10", averages 2.4 bpg and can defend positions 1 through 5.
Everything you just said about AD could be applied to Wemby, and Wemby is also leading the NBA in bpg with 3.4 (if memory serves me correctly).

Wemby is 6' 10"? Lol And he not fast and mobile enough to guard smaller players - AD is. Also, Wemby is 6" taller than AD and his wingspan is also 6" wider, so of course he blocks more shots per game, but as far as overall defense (sticking with his man, etc), AD is better.
