0:33 Marty stares into your soul as he solos like a beast
I don't know if I should be amazed or terrified
Same at 0:50

😂
Iiiiiiii
Marty, you've helped me learn to play guitar when I was 13 years old. I'm 27 years old now and still learning from you. Thank you.
For real I was 15 and now I’m 24 he’s helped so much! Thank you Marty!
I’m just realizing this is the same guy from when I s was a kid and I’m still dogshit at guitar 😂
He's been doing this for that long?? That's awesome. Just started again this week and found Marty
@@adamcarson3363yeah he has an older channel that doesn't have his name in it but he teaches many songs on it. It still exists but he stopped using it I think a few years ago, most tutorials being from around 2014 or so
That's all of my soloing right there.
Yep, especially when it's not even the right scale so you're just playing random shapes looking for a sound to match 😂
That's all it takes lol
The Marty Extended Pentatonic Scale ❤
I use this a lot.. but he does it better. 😊
love the instant transition to stank face during the solo
How much exposure you want in camera
Marty: Yes
Unbelievably cool. I can’t imagine the knowledge you have. You, Beato, Golden, Justin, Blackmon.. just incredible talent. Thank you so much. It’s so cool to learn from you.
Wow, thanks!
@@MartyMusic OMG. I got a reply from Marty! THANK YOU! Very cool.
Recently picked up guitar this guy makes guitar look so much more approachable even when the stuff is complex. Makes it really digestible for beginners
Check out some Japanese pentatonic scales. Yo and Hirajoshi are my favorites
Always smooth and tasty Marty…
😳
The hat man knows.
been learning electric guitar for 2 months now and your videos really help !:)
Hows it going now?
Hey marty. Just started learning the acoustic guitar and your beginners vids are great 👍 so much to learn but hopefully i can master it one day. Love from shetland
Rock on!
Marty you’re a CZcams legend. So glad I saw this.
Marty you are still the man!!!! Thank you for all your insight and fun lessons over the years and I’m still picking stuff from you even now over two decades later! Keep rocking Marty. You are definitely a national treasure Brotha! 🤘🏾🎸
Marty from the bottom of my heart thank you. I’m on day 5 rn and this just brought me to the next level
same
Sweet Jesus Marty. I’ve been practicing scales and getting stuck using one position then you show me this and now I can stop going up and down the fretboard. Seriously I feel like the rockstar I’ve dreamt about! Loving this guitar now…
You are so right. I blend the extended a minor pentatonic with the a minor six arpeggio when playing gypsy jazz. Gives a nice "in" and "out" vibe to solos. I have not tried the a minor six arpeggios in rock / blues. Worth exploring. Keep pushing our musical thinking Marty!@@
Hey Marty, I'm on Lesson 5 and I seriously thank you for your free lessons. I used to play somewhat back in the day, and it's like they say, "don't use it...you loose it." So for me your lessons are a great refresher course and a relearning tool. Love you Marty!! 💥🔥💥🔥🎸🎸🎸🙏🏿
^*lose, not loose
Thank you so much, this lesson has transformed my playing and my life! May God richly bless you Marty!
Marty, Releazing this shape is moveable! Blowing my mind I can use it ANYWHERE. I only started playing Friday. 3 days and I've got this, e scale, and PF wish you were here. Thank you fr. Subbed and liking this.
Thanks Marty you and your shorts always make my day thanks!
My pleasure
All the way from northern Ontario Canada, thanks Marty. I've only played for a year and love your lessons.
I’m watching this video and my daughter just asked ‘is he the guitar expert?’
Definitely came my answer
You're an inspiration Marty, thank you for all the awesome craft you share brother 🙏
My pleasure
Awesome lesson Marty, love how you break it down so effortlessly.
Dude I’m so grateful for your teaching. I’ve been learning from you since the beginning and still continue to almost 10 years later. Thank you!
Started messing around with this, accidentally played do i wanna know in less then a minute
LOL
love that song
That guitar sounds amazing! Seems like a great practice idea - I'll be sure to give it a try. Opening up the neck is the key!! 🔑
Marty, you said the other scale was the best one
Thank you!
I was looking up scales and thought that’d help me with solos so this video is exactly what I needed to see haha
Tu si que enseñas bien
Un saludo desde Navarra
You’ve been my guitar teacher for years and I never even paid a dime. Thank you again, Marty.
Protect this man at all costs ❤
You make it look so easy! Thank you 🙂🎸🎸
Marty, you are the best. Just started playing guitar a few months ago and your videos have been so helpful. Keep doing your thing, much appreciated
Dude you explain things in such a perfect way lol. Absolutely love all your videos man thank you
Love you’re content, really helpful. I have learned so much from your tutorials. I’ve played for about 6 months now, finally feeling comfortable with learning scales now. You helped me through bar cords and everything. Thank you brother
Man I learn so much from you and it makes an immediate difference

You're automatically a shred god
Marty Friedman, Marty Music, Marty McFly
One of the best teachers on CZcams. I will credit him when I make it big
So simple yet so crazy
Thanks man I'm gonna try this out
Hope you enjoy
Thanks marty love your guitar videos
My pleasure!
Every scale I’ve learnt is from Marty this dude is a legend thanks for the content bro
He says it so in sync 😊❤
Thank you sharing this Marty. I've been practicing this on an off all day along with my other scales. I got it down now. Thank you so much, this will really help me a lot.
You’re the greatest Marty. Appreciate you!
this was one of the first things I learned when I started playing. very useful :)
Love this scale! Thank you for this Marty!!! Just jamming with this and finally understand what it means that the root note feels like home base.
8 months into playing and this stuff is starting to make sense to me 😅 this blew me away
Last year I couldn't play a lick of lead. Thanks to you I produce my own admittedly raw sounding original music. Thank you Marty
Wow thanks Marty. I was kinda in a newbie rut this broke me out of it thank you.
Agreed.
I like just practicing the whole pentatonic scale, up and down. Getting creative.👊
The face at the end 😂
Most relatable guitar post this scale and it in its full form helped me stick with guitar
Lovely! Ty so much! Now this gives me motivation to practice!
this is the only scale that i know how to play and its been 8 years lol, definitely dont stick to just this one guys 😆
And this is the best video on CZcams ❤.
Love from India ❤
The nice thing about this scale is it's the simplest (I don't know about "best") pattern to remember, covers 2 1/2 octaves, and, like every pattern, basically works in every key once you find the root. It's two fretted notes on one string, move over, three on the next, move over, then repeats, with the expected 1 fret back adjustment when moving between the G and B strings because they're a third apart instead of a fourth. Every move is either a whole step spanning 3 frets inclusive or moving over a string (minor 3rd). I say "basically works" because in some keys and/or positions you'll want to reverse which strings get two notes and which get three in order to access the biggest range of notes, the best sound, or transition into something else. So it's really TWO similar patterns.
Stick a chromatic note for the 4th position then next three notes on top including tonic note an octave up .....blues scale
Nice advice man 😊
Great info…luv your techniques Marty
Awesome rhythm guitarist
Cheers Marty learnt so many songs from you over the years thanks buddy
Thanks Marty ❤
I think I just need to practice the scowl, that’s the part I’m missing.
damn man that's a beautiful guitar
So good thanks Marty!
thanks Bro , you're awesome! regards from Costa Rica!
Already learned something new today but watching this video, I learned something new the second time.
Thx 🙏 awesome video!!👍👍
Marty you rock ❤🤘
Thank you ,great lesson ,I will practice this !
Nice brother! Short, quick and simple. Practice that enough then you can throw easy in there as well
Sweet sound man!
Thanx 4 everything you do. I have learned a lot.
Hey "Marty " . Du erklärst es in deinen Videos , auf CZcams, immer gut und leicht verständlich. Danke Dafür 😊
Your a good luck charm as well as great teacher
Excellent as always. Just suggesting the fingering change for the top shape needs a little extra clarification.
Love the Expression Marty! I better Practice that first!!
This scale is just the intro to Colt 45
Awesome guitarface near the end there. That's not easy to teach others. 👍😉😁 (and btw, your video on extended minor pentatonic was something that really helped me a couple of years back).
Terrific tip. Cheers mate.
I need a tab of this. I struggle with pentatonic scales still to this day. Open and bar chords are no problem. Suck at trying to flow on the fret board.
Thanks Marty!
We need a lesson on this. I want to add this to my practice routine, but you’re so fast I keep getting lost!
I do have them. "ultimate blues e run" search Marty Music with that
I’ve only been playing a month and this scale here is the best I’ve used to scale across the fret board
And actually sound good lol thank you friend
This is really useful because, as someone who is trying to improve lead playing, I don't want to sound like a robot churning out a scale, I want to USE the scale to create something melodic.
This was really fun to play with, I just lost an hour messing around with this scale, thx bro and much love fam
Actually useful and quick
That was a little tough to tab. Had to watch it a few times. Great scale. 👍 love your videos
Even a minor scale sounds positive by Marty😄👍
Sounds like every John Mayer solo ever.
Good lesson man
“Everyone’s happy when the wizard walks by”
Gonna thank my guitar teacher for forcing me to look into pentatonic scales because this is the simplest yet the most useful thing ive seen all day.
Thank you Marty really appreciate it I hope you have a blessed wonderful fantastic super great day!
thank you my guy🎉
The ”DWIP” at the end
Thanks Marty , this is tonight’s excercise
Oh my god! Your face! I was right wit ya fellow electric guitar player .thank you for teaching..I have learned so much from you!
1st scale I learned. Great teaching
Great to hear!
Marty i dont know if you realized all the doors you have opened with this video right here. I been stuck in a rut forever playing the scale up and down box shapes. And trying to figure out what to do with it . We finally ,finally now i get it after watching this video. Thank You . Catch ya later Im gonna find some back tracks and go soloing . Hell Yeah
