I fell in love with Magallan ever since i got her for my first *6 ever and was looking at her files She's great Polar explorer, just like what my dream and life goal since i was 4 I love her no matter what happened to this world
ah yes, the story of "that one" character. For me it was Specter at first, I mean she's a shark nun who's literally too angry to die and I love sharks. Luckily I joined around Dossoles, so Specter's free. Rushed for her E2 ASAP and she's been in my composition often, if not the keystone of the team. Then I was informed of Fartooth and the rest of the Pinus Sylvestris gang and they immediately went in my "absolutely need" list. When the Pinus Sylvestris mini-event actually dropped, they went from "absolutely need" to "forfeit all possessions." As of now I'm only lacking in Ashlock and I will get her eventually.
that's a really nice story and i enjoyed it a lot. i think this is why i would not enjoy being a whale, or even a dolphin- there's that sense of accomplishment when you finally get the one character you love. it doesn't make a lot of sense to skip all these other amazing operators that you also like in pursuit of someone who is, essentially, subpar, but really, not a lot of things in life make sense. i don't mean to get philosophical over a goddamn gacha, but you belong to the category of people i find most endearing. those that give everything for something insignificant or irrelevant or pointless- but through your journey, you gave it meaning yourself.
I’d definitely say that to a certain degree I am also like, but with 5 stars. Just due to my overall nature, in gacha games tend to be far more interested in rarities that are just under the top rarity. I connect with 5 stars more because I feel that more often than not a lot of them are kinda neglected by others in a general overview when comparing them to 4 stars and 6 stars. I’m especially more connected with the weaker operators like the Abjurer girls.
Passenger and hoshi are two of my most wanted characers, but i've not saved up for them since I wasted all on ling's banner and got nothing. However, the second they announced Passenger rerun, I've begun saving and getting what I can. Already on 40 pulls, Lets hope for the best.
Cool story. My saving attempts went exactly the same. I started playing exactly when Saga got announced, and I skipped most of the banners to get her, only to get both her and Dusk AND THEN HER AND DUSK again with free 10+daily pulls. It was convenient because I could then pull for Kal and Skalter, but gosh was it... Strange feeling of "why". Then NTR was on the horizon, and W's story got me interested in her, so I started to save again, now even harder, to get both of them with 300 spark... And got NTR, Flametail and W with just 120. I felt so wrong that NTR is now my first 6* fullpot as a F2P. Yeah... I even got plenty resources left. Horn is a next big goal for me, but after her there is only Mlynar, and I don't even care about getting more than one copy of him, so this is a whole half a year of "Eh?" for new units. Only hope is Capcom collab, if only it would be DmC...
The one character for me is Saileech, because of her design, her E2 Art, her gameplay, she was the reasons I started playing, not to long ago, around Stultiferas Navis event in 2022, and did manage to get her in the end, and she haven't left my lineup ever since then.

Both for "cultured" reasons, as well as that she just looks really damn cool and adorable too. She was my most-wanted 6-star, and at this point I only had one (Angelina from the beginner's banner). It wasn't to the point where I refrained from pulling for other characters or anything, though. The first banner I pulled on (aside from pulling up until I got a 5-star on each banner to take advantage of the guaranteed 5-star or higher within the first 10 pulls) was Blemishine's rerun. Once I got a 6-star, I opened the bag in suspense and I couldn't believe my eyes when I had, right then and there, pulled Eunectes: my first 6-star outside of the beginner banner. Unsurprisingly, she's still one of my favourite operators today. Though currently the operator for me that parallels your story's Eunectes is Gavial Alter. Gavial was always one of my favourite characters, and I used her as my single-target medic early on, but it was disappointing that her kit was just a basic medic that didn't really have anything going for her. But her alter's kit looks so fun! I'm not as good at saving as you, though; I pulled for Fiammetta when her banner came around. I have 77 pulls as of writing this, so hopefully in 3 months' time I'll have enough to get Gavial, but I highly doubt I'll have enough to get the 300 pulls to guarantee her, in which case I may need to spend the next year saving for the next summer limited banner so that I have 300 for that. Hopefully it doesn't come to that though, as I really want Texas alter too.

Well as a long time arknights player(start playing at Grani event) I just stumble upon this game without any knowledge but instantly I fell for Siege, design, personality. I love her va too and ever since she’s in my team, always.
For me, it was Dusk. As soon as I saw her design, I knew I wanted her more than any other operator. But I lost track of the scheduled banners, and I accidentally spent all my saved pulls on the Nian banner. By the time Dusk showed up, I wasn't able to get her. I realized I would never again be able to get this operator. Fast forward, I save up for Ling and get her in just a few pulls. Feeling lucky, I pull on the Fartooth banner and get her quickly as well. I still felt like luck was on my side, but there was nothing else I could do. I had everyone I wanted. Unless... I decided to pull on the Ling banner some more and I finally got Dusk as an off-banner. This was one of my best moments playing the game, but I no longer have many characters I still want. In the back of my mind, part of me hopes I fail a future banner (like Horn, Spalter, or Gavialter) so I can still have another character to work towards.
I felt robbed when pulling for Mountain (250 pulls divided into 2 banners, I got 7 6 stars during these pulls and neither of them were Mountain or even a new operator). I recently got him in the Ling banner and I honestly don't even care about him anymore - feel like the experience ruined him for me.
I started at the end of the code of brawl event (not rerun), played for 6 months, and quit. Two years later, I am back. Myrtle is my favourite character, with bagpipe being my myrtle -sIave- supporter. I really wanted to pull on eunectus banner, but burnt out before the banner started and I stopped playing. So now, I want eunectus, but need to save for horn.
My first six star? Silverash. I didn't E2 him for my first year of playing, just never vibed with him. Second was Exusiai, then Rosa, then Bagpipe - and then I got Skadi. Yeah I know, hurr durr skadi simps, but I legitimately fell in love with her voice and the mystery around her character, and yeah sure she was 'weak' in-game, but I didn't care, she was my bosskiller and the missing link in my squad. Then Skadi alter came out and she never leaves my squad - unless I'm using OG Skadi. I think, in the terms of a character I wanted but had to chase for - Suzuran. Ironically also on the new banner with Eunectes lol, but I got I believe one Saria (who i s2g is always off banner when I get her, I got her on the nian banner so I never got nian and had to spark), one Phantom, a Blaze and two Silverash on Suzuran banners before I actually got her... on Dusk's banner. And honestly for how much I wanted her, I feel bad I haven't invested much in her (outside of E2 SL7) bc she is fantastic ;w; I'm tempted to pull on this standard banner, but I'm gonna probably hold off bc I'm a collector and I gotta save for Specter's banner >.> I'm going on a bit of a tangent but I'm so glad that us on the EN server get the gift of foresight with Arknights, it always gives me something to look forward to and is a bright spot in my day to day, and most of all I look forward to the characters - even if it means emptying my wallet.
That one operator I just had to have was W. When I heard she was coming to global, I saved for six months not pulling on any banners. When she was released I got her to maxed potential. (No Regrets)
I started Arknights earlier this year only to learn my favourite character Nearl was just after having her alter on rate up. Needless to say I've been saving everything I can to make sure I get her when she comes back.
Listening to your story sound similar to mine. I downloaded Arknights I think around the time the Weedy and W banner was happening, but didnt actually start playing till the Great Chief returns event. I'm not a reader. I wanted to read the story but admittedly I dont like reading that much, and Arknights is A LOT of reading. I started playing the game like mad cuz I saw how much stuff was in the store and couldnt believe I didnt grind when I had the chance. When it came to Eunectes, back then I was like "she sounds cool, probably wont get her but lets try" got her on my 6th pull (gonna be honest, my luck was ridiculously good when I first started). I slowly started to love Eunectes. I did pull through the other banners, had the same experience as you with Rosmontis. Saved like crazy, got Rosmontis 4 times with no Mudrock, and also got Skalter and Kal in the same 10 pull....but lord Eunectes wasa hard one to figure out. She's an unsociable engineer with a thirst for knowledge. Shes blunt, arguably naive, and lights up when she meets lancet-2 which is the cutest thing. I still dont know if I have a full grasp on who she is, and admitedly her design does help a lot in terms of my interest in her. I've recently decided she's some kinda Kuu-dere cuz it kinda fits. Hopefully this current event will let me see more of her, so I can see why I made her my second wife (behind Exusiai, my first 6 star who I love very much lmao). So I get the whole "drawn to character" but 100% sure why thing,
Watching this video made me look back at my operator acquisition order. First 6star was SilverAsh, followed by Skadi Alter (definitely attached to skadi, hasnt left my party in a year). My next six star was Passenger during Dossoles Holiday off-banner (still didnt get Chalter). God my RNG was messed up back then
Ahoy to a fellow reader! I'm yet to finish the Great Chief Returs, but I love how they go about Blaze. "Did anyone see Blaze? No? Whatever, she's Blaze, she'll be fine" I got into the game because I always found the art intersting and some jokes about the doctor - the player insert - being their own character. I though Amiya was a very cool design and probably the canon romantic interest - how little I knew about both Arknights tone and Amiya being basically your daughter. Though my guaranteed 6* was Truesilver Slash so I don't really have to justify or even think about bringing him along.
I’m different, honestly. I don’t have one single Operator I love the most. I love a lot of Operators, ranging from non-meta to meta. I love Eunectes, Thorns, Phantom, Melantha, Astesia, Blemishine, Ch’en, Executor, Broca and so much more. I just love Arknights in general. Such a fun game.
For me, it's Dorothy. I started back in November and the first video I saw about Arknights was Yii's video talking about future 6 stars, and the second I saw Dorothy I was hook, line, and sinker. I have summoned on some banners but I never let myself fall below 10 multis worth of resources. I have been ignoring most of my roster and hoarding all the materials to max her out (couldn't ignore Mudrock or Deepcolor though, I had to farm Breeze pots just to get the distinction tickets for the bonk queen) and the temptation to raise more characters has been hard to resist, but I want to instantly max out Dorothy once I get her, even if I would be using up all my resources and essentially going broke. edit: typo
Literally how its going for me with Nian rn. Last year i couldnt get her, got pot 4 Ling instead and all. I pulled a bit etc during the year, but this year decided- im gonna save all 6 months through and skip everything. And im determined. I will get her home this time >:C
Siege is my main girl. She's the BAEBER of Arknights with the same voice actor, is Arknights version of King Arthur, but with more Mordred as a chill gangleader vibe. One day, she'll get an alter with a sword. Maybe. Hopefully..... Please?
While i usually save my pulls for limited banners, pallas was the only non limited character ive gone all out for. Like i wouldnt even say shes my favorite but the combination of her gameplay, personality and art just made me need to have her. Thankfully i did get her with the 100 pulls i had at the time but man i would have been devastated if i didn't get her. It did mean that i couldnt pull as much for carnelian and maybe with those extra pulls i would have gotten Chalter but do i regret it? No. I honestly use her every chance i get
eunectes was the operator that helped me clear 7-18 by stalling patriot phase 2 long enough for me to charge an Irene s3, it was the most relieving feeling after having failed to follow a guide and then needing to figure out some other method to clear the stage.
On the flip side, I wanted Shamare ever since her announcement on CN (don't ask why ;)). Got her. Full pot. Probably the first to E2 her on global. Now, all I ever do is just pull for fun operators as that's the only way for me to keep enjoying playing Arknights. Thankfully, they're not running out of those

My history of getting Eunectes is rather comical… I just really wanted to get Mostima on code of brawl banner ( now i have her, no worries ), but banner thought that i need thicc snake. Now said snake is e2 60 s3m3, and is ready to have her module
I've had so many "that operator" that it's no longer to call any operator as such. I desperately wantes Surtr, Blemishine, Dusk, W, Ling, Mlynar, Penance, Reed alter, Kalt'sit, Skalter, Omertosa, Thorns, Rosmontis, Pallas, Fartooth, Irene... etc... etc...
Honestly, I never save. And the only time I did is when the R6 event approaches. Every time I get the chance I pull and thats because I was lucky. I was blessed with Thorns, Shining, and Surtr as my first three. Because of that, I didn't need to worry about anything else. So I pulled, and pulled, getting a lot of 6 stars. Some off banner, most with it, I even got 2 ash. Afterwards I stopped caring of who I pulled, even failing chen alter didn't spite me. I have skins for nian, dusk and W, but not them. I'm just collecting now. Op and Up, general and niche. It's kinda nice that arknights has so many operators. Although I am thinking on getting the new juggernaut shown on cn, I'm not saving. Because, I already have a team.
worst case scenario you can always go play Super Auto Pets, where all the bad operators are good in that game (for example, Pallas got to fulfill her dream of becoming a cornerstone operator in SAP)
god, that skalter banner. i never got both 6 stars and i was malding at Thorns for taking the guarantee, did not level him up till the end of the event
in my case, i don't think i have that much of an interesting story, atleast not one i remember off the top of my head my number 1 favorite op is Specter and by a lot, other favorites include Skadi and Ling thing is though i got Spalter almost effortlessly and normal Specter from a ticket way back i started playing during Under Tides and rerolled for Skalter then got my 6 star ticket, told Thorns and Surtr to fuck off and picked Skadi i also didn't get Eunectes during her event but got her from standard soon after probably the most interesting experience i had was doing 300 pulls for NTR and W but got neither of them then a streamer saw my really unfortunate situation and decided to hook me up, got on my account, got me more pulls and summoned until he got me W then let me picked Nearl from Pity shop also thanks to that banner i have a hatred towards my pot 12 Flametail
I don’t have much trouble when it comes to headhunting personally. My frustration comes from those freaking recruitment tags that NEVER GIVE MY MY FUCKING ROBOTS. Also, don’t call me out with that dragon hoarding shit...
I feel like I should mention that in recruitment if you have a Robot tag you shouldn't be setting time to 9:00, as the moment you go past 2:50 it makes sure you get a 3*, overriding the robot tag
i think for me that ONE character was Astesia, shame Surtr is simply the most broken operator in the game...but hey, Astesia carried me for a pretty long time
In 2020 I quit the game cus I did not get my Nian. I told myself that I HAVE enough respect for my time just to not play this gacha hell. Now I return cus of Specter my favorite character and now as a new player with all sidestory uncleared can make a 300 pull run for Gavial - also one of the favorite character and chalter cus she is op and I dont care/

I downloaded Arknights I think around the time the Weedy and W banner was happening, but didnt actually start playing till the Great Chief returns event. I'm not a reader. I wanted to read the story but admittedly I dont like reading that much, and Arknights is A LOT of reading. I started playing the game like mad cuz I saw how much stuff was in the store and couldnt believe I didnt grind when I had the chance. When it came to Eunectes, back then I was like "she sounds cool, probably wont get her but lets try" got her on my 6th pull (gonna be honest, my luck was ridiculously good when I first started). I slowly started to love Eunectes. I did pull through the other banners, had the same experience as you with Rosmontis. Saved like crazy, got Rosmontis 4 times with no Mudrock, and also got Skalter and Kal in the same 10 pull....but lord Eunectes wasa hard one to figure out. She's an unsociable engineer with a thirst for knowledge. Shes blunt, arguably naive, and lights up when she meets lancet-2 which is the cutest thing. I still dont know if I have a full grasp on who she is, and admitedly her design does help a lot in terms of my interest in her. I've recently decided she's some kinda Kuu-dere cuz it kinda fits. Hopefully this current event will let me see more of her, so I can see why I made her my second wife (behind Exusiai, my first 6 star who I love very much lmao). So I get the whole "drawn to character" but 100% sure why thing,
Watching this video made me look back at my operator acquisition order. First 6star was SilverAsh, followed by Skadi Alter (definitely attached to skadi, hasnt left my party in a year). My next six star was Passenger during Dossoles Holiday off-banner (still didnt get Chalter). God my RNG was messed up back then

I got into the game because I always found the art intersting and some jokes about the doctor - the player insert - being their own character. I though Amiya was a very cool design and probably the canon romantic interest - how little I knew about both Arknights tone and Amiya being basically your daughter.
Though my guaranteed 6* was Truesilver Slash so I don't really have to justify or even think about bringing him along.
Vigna is my favorite, I try to include her in stages I'll be farming from. And obviously I had no problem pulling her
I’m different, honestly. I don’t have one single Operator I love the most. I love a lot of Operators, ranging from non-meta to meta. I love Eunectes, Thorns, Phantom, Melantha, Astesia, Blemishine, Ch’en, Executor, Broca and so much more.
I just love Arknights in general. Such a fun game.
For me, it's Dorothy. I started back in November and the first video I saw about Arknights was Yii's video talking about future 6 stars, and the second I saw Dorothy I was hook, line, and sinker. I have summoned on some banners but I never let myself fall below 10 multis worth of resources. I have been ignoring most of my roster and hoarding all the materials to max her out (couldn't ignore Mudrock or Deepcolor though, I had to farm Breeze pots just to get the distinction tickets for the bonk queen) and the temptation to raise more characters has been hard to resist, but I want to instantly max out Dorothy once I get her, even if I would be using up all my resources and essentially going broke.

Literally how its going for me with Nian rn. Last year i couldnt get her, got pot 4 Ling instead and all. I pulled a bit etc during the year, but this year decided- im gonna save all 6 months through and skip everything. And im determined. I will get her home this time >:C
Siege is my main girl. She's the BAEBER of Arknights with the same voice actor, is Arknights version of King Arthur, but with more Mordred as a chill gangleader vibe. One day, she'll get an alter with a sword. Maybe. Hopefully.....

While i usually save my pulls for limited banners, pallas was the only non limited character ive gone all out for. Like i wouldnt even say shes my favorite but the combination of her gameplay, personality and art just made me need to have her. Thankfully i did get her with the 100 pulls i had at the time but man i would have been devastated if i didn't get her. It did mean that i couldnt pull as much for carnelian and maybe with those extra pulls i would have gotten Chalter but do i regret it? No. I honestly use her every chance i get

eunectes was the operator that helped me clear 7-18 by stalling patriot phase 2 long enough for me to charge an Irene s3, it was the most relieving feeling after having failed to follow a guide and then needing to figure out some other method to clear the stage.
On the flip side, I wanted Shamare ever since her announcement on CN (don't ask why ;)). Got her. Full pot. Probably the first to E2 her on global.
Now, all I ever do is just pull for fun operators as that's the only way for me to keep enjoying playing Arknights. Thankfully, they're not running out of those

I started playing Arknights because I discovered W, and I have managed to save until now, where I can guarantee her with a pity pick if all else fails
I've had so many "that operator" that it's no longer to call any operator as such. I desperately wantes Surtr, Blemishine, Dusk, W, Ling, Mlynar, Penance, Reed alter, Kalt'sit, Skalter, Omertosa, Thorns, Rosmontis, Pallas, Fartooth, Irene... etc... etc...

Honestly, I never save. And the only time I did is when the R6 event approaches. Every time I get the chance I pull and thats because I was lucky. I was blessed with Thorns, Shining, and Surtr as my first three. Because of that, I didn't need to worry about anything else. So I pulled, and pulled, getting a lot of 6 stars. Some off banner, most with it, I even got 2 ash. Afterwards I stopped caring of who I pulled, even failing chen alter didn't spite me. I have skins for nian, dusk and W, but not them. I'm just collecting now. Op and Up, general and niche. It's kinda nice that arknights has so many operators.
Although I am thinking on getting the new juggernaut shown on cn, I'm not saving. Because, I already have a team.

worst case scenario you can always go play Super Auto Pets, where all the bad operators are good in that game (for example, Pallas got to fulfill her dream of becoming a cornerstone operator in SAP)

in my case, i don't think i have that much of an interesting story, atleast not one i remember off the top of my head
my number 1 favorite op is Specter and by a lot, other favorites include Skadi and Ling
thing is though i got Spalter almost effortlessly and normal Specter from a ticket way back
i started playing during Under Tides and rerolled for Skalter then got my 6 star ticket, told Thorns and Surtr to fuck off and picked Skadi
i also didn't get Eunectes during her event but got her from standard soon after
probably the most interesting experience i had was doing 300 pulls for NTR and W but got neither of them
then a streamer saw my really unfortunate situation and decided to hook me up, got on my account, got me more pulls and summoned until he got me W then let me picked Nearl from Pity shop
also thanks to that banner i have a hatred towards my pot 12 Flametail
I don’t have much trouble when it comes to headhunting personally. My frustration comes from those freaking recruitment tags that NEVER GIVE MY MY FUCKING ROBOTS. Also, don’t call me out with that dragon hoarding shit...
I feel like I should mention that in recruitment if you have a Robot tag you shouldn't be setting time to 9:00, as the moment you go past 2:50 it makes sure you get a 3*, overriding the robot tag
i guess im lucky because my waifu is also a meta unit (surtr)

I had to restart the game by losing my unlinked account, got Silverash both tines as first 6s, still don't feel this obligation that you speak of.
In 2020 I quit the game cus I did not get my Nian. I told myself that I HAVE enough respect for my time just to not play this gacha hell. Now I return cus of Specter my favorite character and now as a new player with all sidestory uncleared can make a 300 pull run for Gavial - also one of the favorite character and chalter cus she is op and I dont care/
