NONE of this is meant to be medical advice. Just inspiration to study LED! I am a LAY person doing my best to study science and encourage you to do that as well. Please talk to your doctor about anything that you see on youtube that you want to try .
By the way, in case it wasn't clear: I do not think LED is adequate sun protection (not even close. please wear SPF). I also do not think we should stare at bright light (ever). I think medication for cold sores is great if your doctor prescribes it. That said, LED is a fascinating addition to regular ole' modern medicine sometimes :)

Are *you* trying to come off as an asinine airhead with the IQ of a toothpick, or is it your natural state of being?🤨
FYI, regardless of whether a human or-in this case-a dog will close their eyes automatically by reflex anyway, the LED light will *not* harm the eyes/eye-sight/vision in any way!
Studies on LED phototherapy have been done since the 1960s and are proven safe, for both skin *and* eyes, they even have a positive effect on macular degeneration symptoms; it's just uncomfortable to stare into bright light (which oc explains the reflex of shutting the eyes).
You're clearly 'uninformed' and confusing Red LED light therapy with the old/vintage tanning lamps, AKA sunlamps that emit ultraviolet radiation and were to be used no longer than a minute or two; these are utterly different light sources!
So, the next time you're hell-bent on flippantly posting a stupid response, it's best to educate yourself on the basics. Especially before you go insinuating the mistreatment of someone's pet.

Andrew Huberman talked about red light for eye health in one of his videos. Unless I’m confusing a couple things he said, I believe the red light exposure needed to happen in the morning before 11am. Also if you have a panel he suggested stepping away from it so it was easier to look at. He said the same thing that if it’s uncomfortable to look at then it was too strong. Another great use for red/NIR light is for joint pain. I use it all the time for all sorts of injuries!

Just to clarify, it's watts per square centimeter, not centimeters squared, those are two different things. The medical literature at Pubmed says that photobiomodulation can increase healing time by 150-200%. 850 nm near infrared penetrates up to 22 cm into the body, found to be one of the best frequencies for penetration and closest to red, the vibratory frequency (color) of your blood. We use 660 nm red + 850 nm NIR. Blue light is shown in the literature to kill Staph, MRSA and other infections on the surface of the skin, as it doesn't penetrate. Some therapists have put blue LEDs in the nose to treat the blood, and others actually inject a light into the body. Blue light has also shown to kill Melanoma and Lukemia Cells, Pubmed. We've used them on odd growths that have come up and they turn black and fall off. Green Light increases cellular growth by 4 times. Red light also increases Collagen in the skin by 400%, Pubmed. If you wanted to treat a burn you may start with Red+ NIR, Blue to stop any infection and later to Green because as the skin begins to heal the red is uncomfortable, feels like heat, the Green will promote healing. There are studies that suggest PBM to repair the Optic Nerve in some cases, one that was completely severed grew back together and restored sight.

    ui.adsabs.harvard.edu/abs/2014SPIE.8932E..04Z/abstract
Thank you, I like what you said about the eye being an extension of our brain, on the outside of our body and I consider it to be a good way to treat the brain, although the NIR will penetrate right through your skull.

@@allewellyn I'm so sorry for your son! I'm not a doctor, only a retired electrician. I can tell you that I have never heard of any negative side effects regarding red+near infrared light. It's important to know that you only use it for about 10 minutes a day, per area. Too much makes it ineffective. It works on the level of the mitochondria which are in every cell in the body so it works on every tissue in the body. I don't even know of the condition you speak of. I am so sorry, I wish I could offer more help. If it were my son, I'd probably try it. I think I would just use the near infrared alone. If you take the Valacyclovir 1000mg or Acyclovir 800mg at the very first sign, (mine will start with a dull headache, brain fog, and fatigue) before the actual blister starts to form then same dosage 12 hrs later it will not actually form, or maybe just the very beginning. Believe me, it took me a long time to actually figure out my symptoms to be able to get ahead of it, but I promise it works if you know you’re about to get one. 😊

Yup I couldn't believe when my eye specialist told me. I should use my Celluma without any shields! Every time I go and i'd say, are you sure? Are you sure? I had a hard time believing her! 😳 Are you sure.. And she would say don't use the Goggles Only close your eyes and don't look at the Light! She said The light would reduce the inflammation And help my tear ducts. And after my treatments I definitely would see and feel my eyes were better for a short time. I don't do it as near as much as I should!

Glad to see that red light therapy is finally going mainstream. I have used it daily for more than 5 years with great sucess for all the usual things plus for kitchen and hair tool burns, banged knees that were swollen and yellow, bug bites, photis repair after surgery, bruises fromthe taking blood inthe hospital, I use it to keep my mitochondria healthy for 10 minutes each morning before getting out of bed. CAncer prevention...Best of all, I had a huge surprise at the optmolalogist when when I went for a laser treatment and was told my eye was perfect and did not require any treatment. I had done nothing special, just being in the same room did it ... I love it, have 3 different configurations plus a far infrared personal sauna .Every home should have at least a 30-watt hand held unit. Lastly if you have alopecia and use it daily you will see your hair fill in about 4/ 6 months using red light and a demaroller.. .Be creative and make it work for you...

RLT is one of those modalities that would benefit the whole family (injuries, pain, acne, etc) as long as it is used safely.
There is research to show that it helps improve hearing which also fascinates me.

Where to date there are no well run trials recommending we expose our eyes to additional red light treatments. Of course this may change I guess I’m in the conservative camp. Dr. William Bates, creator of The Bates Method suggested sunning/palming the eyes. With the sunning part, you "look up at the sun" but with your eyes closed, then rotate your head back and forth for a few seconds to allow the sun's rays to hit the eye lids. Then you cup your hands over the eyes until things become dark (eyes open for this). Perhaps closing the eyes and rotating the head in front of the red light will produce the same benefits?
When I use my red light and sit facing it, I do not put on my covers, but keep my eyes closed. In the morning when I first wake up, I turn on my red light and walk around while I take care of early morning tasks, eyes open but avoiding direct contact with the box.

Andrew Huberman recommends looking at a wall that's by or reflecting the red light for a few minutes each day, while standing in front of the light. This means you can sit perpendicular to or with your back facing the light, getting light on your skin while looking at the ambient and reflected red light. The key is to get some light in you eyes without looking directly at the light. (Some light panels, like Platinum Therapy's newer BioMax also allow for light intensity adjustment.)
