Steam Storms the Trunk Once Again! Ja 1271 to Auckland (4K)

For the first time in four years, steam power stormed through the central section of the Main Trunk Line, which stretches from Wellington to Auckland. Ja 1271 and DBR 1254 were in charge of this excursion train, as a conjunction effort between the Glenbrook Vintage Railway, and Steam Incorporated. Steam Inc's Ja 1271 will be visiting Auckland and the Waikato over the next 6 weeks, so get online and book your tickets!
The chase today was from Ohakune to Glenbrook, which was one part of a three day 'Discover Ruapehu Rail Tour' organised by the GVR, and three day North Island Steam Tour organised by Steam Inc. We follow the excursion from the steamup in Ohakune, all the way to the steamdown at the Glenbrook Vintage Railway's Pukeoware depot.

Yes 1254 was there as a backup loco for steep grades
