Kakuma was established in 1992 and my family and I arrived there end of 1995. I finally and permanently left Kakuma in 2015 when my family and I relocated to Australia on a humanitarian Visa. As of today, Kakuma is still home to us. I visited Kakuma in 2022 when I returned back to Kenya and intend to visit it every time I go to Mama Africa. It reminds me of my childhood memories. I have lived the hardship and we are here to tell the tale. Note: To Citizen reporters, kindly know that there's a country called South Sudan and its people are South Sudanese. We are no longer Sudanese or ‘Southern’ Sudanese. A big media house like Citizen cannot have an excuse as to why it failed to mention South Sudan. Generalising us as “Sudanese” is not just hurting but it shows a lack of proper research. Next time, do better!
Why are you in Australia and not south sudan?..stop the Arrongance with citizen tv is a kenyan media…we welcomed you to kenya!..now you are in Australia ubonga shit!..if we kenyans decide..we will evict you!..all s/sudanese will be go back to south sudan!..stay in your country if you love your country so much!..
When i lived there many years ago, there used to be clashes between the South Sudanese and Turkanas in the form of deadly gun fights. The Turkanas used to come with their AK 47 in the middle of the night and rob the refugees. Sometimes they'll sell camels to the refugees and come back after midnight to rob it back. I hope that has changed by now.
