Who's here in 2023 after waiting 40 years?
    Worth it.

DustinPlatt-And as long as Jerry Reinsdorf owns the White Sox, there won't be anymore postseason appearances because he's proved time and time again that he is not committed to winning, given the fact that he chose to keep Pedro Grifol as manager, rather than firing him, hired Chris Getz as GM instead of interviewing potential candidates, passed on hiring Bruce Bochy as manager, and cut the team's payroll. Not only that, now he wants to build a new ballpark using taxpayers money instead of using his own. (And people vilified Walter O'Malley when he wanted to build a new ballpark for the Dodgers with the intention of keeping them in Brooklyn using his own money, not taxpayers). Only problem is, O'Malley couldn't afford to buy the land which is where the Barclay's Center is today.

Chuck was one of the all time great announcers. He covered the orioles and colts games for years. A really good person. Rest in peace Chuck. Thankfully, Brooks is still with us.

This was the last year local telecasts of the LCS were allowed. The previous year, MLB had gotten an injunction to prevent TBS from doing a "local" version of the NLCS when the Braves made it, and because of that when the new TV contract was negotiated for 1984-89, local telecasts of the LCS were banned. By this point, the ban had been lifted on local radio broadcasts of the World Series, so long-term it became something of a trade-off.

There's a CZcams video of the 73 NLCS which is a WOR broadcast and I had no idea local stations could air games with their own crews.
Thanks for explaining things. It was a part of baseball history I didn't know.

Thanks for clarifying. I didn't local telecasts of the LCS were permitted as late as '83.

It is possible a Baltimore newspaper ad might've said: if you're pulling for the White Sox, watch the NBC feed w/Bob Costas and Tony Kubek. If you're pulling for the Orioles, watch the O's feed w/Chuck Thompson and Brooks. A similar ad occurred in the 1969 NY Times when the Mets were in the NLCS.

You may never see anything like this again which sadly radio may no longer be broadcasting baseball except for after the game & call in's evolving the game they saw on television.

I have been searching the Internet trying to find out why this series was played without any days off. Game 1 Wed, Game 2 Thurs. Game 3 Fri. Game 4 Sat. Why was there no days off?

Sox were loaded and seemed destined. But the Orioles had playoff experience and the mystique.

2:05:46 At this point in the game, if you look behind home plate in the background you can spot the famous (or infamous) Roland Stewart, known as the “Jesus Saves”, “Rainbow Man”, or even as the “John 3:16” guy, famous for making appearances at major sporting events in the 70s or 80s and later became infamous for his kidnapping of a hotel maid in 1992.
