    You may be asking yourself how to improve trunk control in babies and one of the easiest answers is by placing toys to the sides of babies instead of in front of them. By placing toys to the side, you help improve trunk control in babies by allowing them to improve trunk rotation.

    Hi! Great video! I’m wondering if this is also applicable to babies who sits with rounded back? like sitting at the bottom of his spine instead of his butt? thanks

      Yes, absolutely. So mobility is SO important in babes for posture and can often be a contributing factor if they are not able to fully engage their core. It can be a lot of different things, though, so I would recommend checking out my new (free!) online course learning to sit, so that you can go through everything systematically -- it also has checklists :) and learning to crawl linked too once your babe is ready for that! drlaurenbaker.com/courses

      Hi Kamalabdelmawla! Thanks for the comment, you absolutely can if you are looking to help someone learn to roll, sit, crawl, or walk. All courses are linked here: drlaurenbaker.com/courses just click on the button for the course that is most appropriate, fill in name/email address and you will be directed to a sign in page to create a profile in the course (this will also be emailed to you) and once you create a log in you'll have access.
      If tummy time/rolling is the milestone you are looking to learn more about, My book 📚 Tummy Time & Learning to Roll - amzn.to/3u2NKqk (affiliate) is my most comprehensive resource (WAY MORE SO than the course) and I would absolutely recommend that first!
      Please let me know if you have any more troubles or difficulty accessing the information! Lauren

    My baby doesn't sit yet but has started crawling using tummy hands and legs! how would I help her? 😊 Thank you

      Hi Carboogy! This is a great video to help with sitting, for my full online course for sitting you can check that out here: drlaurenbaker.com/courses
      Here is a sitting checklist that can also be helpful - drlaurenbaker.com/blog/learning-to-sit-checklist
      Sitting is typical from 6-9 months (ideal by 8 months). If baby is in the 6-7 month range, keep working on sitting -- them crawling on their belly is a great way for them to keep building core strength that can help with sitting. We also want to make sure baby is rolling back to belly and belly to back in both directions. If there is any trouble with rolling you can find more information on how to help in my book: 📚 Tummy Time & Learning to Roll - amzn.to/3u2NKqk (affiliate)
      If you are looking for more information or help, you can book an online parent consultation here at anytime: drlaurenbaker.clientsecure.me/request/service

    Hi Dr Lauren, if baby is still not tolerating full 10 mins of tummy time at a time, and at times keeps rolling back into supine, should we focus more on tummy time rather than sitting ? He also recently resists rolling from back to belly from left to right.

      Hi Hui! Thanks for the comment. You are ON IT and I love it. There are a few things I would recommend - my most comprehensive resource is my book Tummy Time and Learning to Roll: amzn.to/3S9M73s (affiliate), which will go through sidelying play positions and modified tummy time positions which will help with the rolling building blocks AND the modified positions can help keep babes in tummy time for longer. I am a huge proponent on focus more on rolling than sitting because 99% of the time sitting is the easiest milestone to master and if you master rolling almost always you are better off with crawling transition. That being said, you don’t have to avoid sitting if baby is 6 months+. If for some reason the book isnt available my free online courses both for rolling AND sitting might help you find the best combo - I would specifically say the mobility section and checklists in the rolling course/book are a must and side sitting if older than 7 months is the type of sitting I would recommend since it is great for crawling prep. Both courses are listed here: drlaurenbaker.com/courses

      thank you so much for grabbing that I hope it is SUPER helpful! I don't know why some of your comments are not posting (I just found them) so that is why I am a little late to respond! I saw the one about not rolling back to belly -- I would still focus mostly on rolling since rolling has a huge correlation with crawling and often babies actually really enjoy sitting and often they do not have trouble with it at all. If you have specific questions on the course / book will you email me info@drlaurenbaker.com? I don't want youtube to keep hiding your replies from me (rude!).
      Definitely go through the checklists and focus on the unchecked items, but definitely let me know if you have questions on it via email

    Hi, baby almost 8 months old, crawls on all four, but doesn't sit... He also pulls up... His core is weak, what should I do? I am afraid to put him in sitting postion, his spine bends so much. Help, please!

    • @DrLaurenBaker
      @DrLaurenBaker  Před 9 měsíci

      Hi! Thank you so much for your comment. It is interesting that a babe would be able to crawl on all fours but struggle with sitting, BUT there is a ton you can do. My recommendation would be to go through the free online course "learning to sit" located here: drlaurenbaker.com/courses and go through the checklists to see what gaps may be happening and work on the exercises there (there is a mobility and core strength section that both would be good to review!). If your baby is still not sitting by 9 months, pediatric PT would be recommended. If you have additional questions after going through the course, you can schedule an online parent consult here at anytime: drlaurenbaker.clientsecure.me/request/service
