Bio:
Rising pop star Dorian Electra (pronouns: they/them/theirs) makes music that defies gender norms. In the past year, their work has gained a queer cult following and led to them being named a must-know talent by Buzzfeed and one of PAPER Magazine's "100 Women Revolutionizing Pop." Not only that, but Electra has also quickly built a dedicated fan base thanks to their futuristic spin on 00s pop, 80s funk, and a long-standing love of satirizing rigid gender roles and views on sexuality. A frequent Charli XCX collaborator, Electra was featured on the Pop 2 track "Femmebot (feat. Dorian Electra & Mykki Blanco)." They have also played live with XCX at a number of self-curated shows and after parties. In 2018, Electra performed at NYC Pride, toured with British pop sensation Rina Sawayama and supported Russian group PussyRiot on their first U.S. tour. This song holds such power for me. I've been struggling with gender identity since I was 12, awkwardly going back and forth from an FTM identity to cis until landing semi-comfortably in the genderfluid range. I kept having this mentality that I either have to fully pass as masc or fem but seeing Dorian miss-mash things into a wonderful and fitting identity for themself gives me such a confidence boost and gives me the courage to search for the best way to present myself so I'm fully comfortable. Dorian if you see this, from every cell in my being, thank you so so much.

i think dorian has had the most profound impact on me. I think (?) im cys gender and bicurious, but i've always been into the feminine side. I'd wear my moms heels, as her to do my makeup, etc. During middle school i was bullied for being gay and have some internalized homophobia. Dorian has taught me its ok to be feminine, and it doesnt make me gay. Its ok to be emotionally vulnerable as a guy, and that i am loved by at least one person out there. i love u dorian.

Dorian literally has not missed once with a music video, but I think this is their masterpiece. This is camp perfected, it’s so ridiculously dramatic and absurd, but with the just enough subtlety that you wouldn’t quite notice exactly just how bonkers it is if you’re not really focusing on it. It’s the details, like like the childhood photo having the moustache, the reflection in the mirror behaving completely independently of Dorian, and the just *perfect* facial expressions like at 2:13 and 3:02 that had me laughing my ass off the first time watching this
