I grew up in the days of component systems with premium players like McIntosh, Crown, Sunfire, Carver, and more. In the days of when you bought vinyl for about $4 an LP. While I have tried a lot of different receivers over the years, Marantz is always a brand I will come back to because of their quality and time in the game. They as well as other premium companies know what it takes to make a great product that lasts for years.

I had a great Marantz rcr back in 2006 that I let go. I replaced it with a Pioneer that had more up to date features. But I really missed the wonderful sound of my Marantz. I then got a great deal on a powerful Pioneer Elite rcr. I have been rocking that ever since until now. I just got two, yes two, Marantz receivers to test against the Pioneer. It only took two min to decide that the Pioneer has to go! The crazy thing is that the Marantz beat the Pioneer before I even calibrated the system! My Pioneer relies heavily on the calibration and to be honest sounds like crap in bypass mode. But the Pioneer has served me well and it is a good unit once everything is setup. Your average person would be happy with it. But I can say that the Marantz units do music better. I would say that home theater performance is about a tie.
Appreciate your inputs and agree on the first 3 points but not the 4th one, also over heating problem is something Marantz to consider seriously, I am keeping an exhaust to cool down the receiver
All home theaters regardless of brands at 80db will emit a heat that can cook an egg that will shorten its life based on my experience with my Onkyos . So now I'm using SR 6015 Marantz I make sure everytime I use it , I cool it down with 6 inches electric fan . I notice most home theater users do not use electric fan to cool it thinking it has a built in cooling system . The built in fan in your home theater is not enough in fact that might be the reason why my Onkyo rz 730 lasted only one year because of overheating
All my Marantz are still kicking as strong as the day I grabbed them! All my other brands have failed over time:( I do love my Yamahas but they have failed over time. I'm on my third Marantz and I see myself grabbing Marantz religiously. Anthem would defo be Dopeliscous.
what did you choose? I'm not sure if i want a SR5015 or a MRX540. I love music and video games on PC, no movies. I want a 5.1.2 setup and I know i'll have to get an external amp with the MRX 540. Budget is a concern for me, but i also want a good sound.

I can get the Brand New Marantz SR-8015 for $1,785 total. With tax included. I am saving up for it right now. I am super excited to get it thru bestbuy. I still do plan on Keeping my Onkyo TX-RZ1100 Reciever as well. So after I buy my Marantz SR-8015 I am Going to have 2 Flagship model Recievers under 1 Roof. A bunch of my friends told me that it must be really nice to have 2 Flagship models under 1 roof. Lol
I enjoy your channel. I have the luxury of having 2 home audio rooms. In my family room I use a Marantz 6014 in a 5.2.4 configuration. This setup sounds great my wife loves the way it sounds. It is very clear warm sound the atmos processing is very good using 4 over head speakers. I have a mancave that I've used 2 different Denon amps I started with a model 940 it wasn't as clear or had enough power or preouts so i tried a Denon 3600 it was much better and it allowed me to use the preouts to bi-amp my front towers that brought those speakers to life. I do like the the Marantz better. I'm returning the 3600 tomorrow i still wasn't happy I hope a 4500 does the trick.
Marantz 9.2 and Yamaha 5.1 . If was going to take a step up it would be w a McIntosh quality (at a little lower price point, though) in a multi-channel Amp separate. Marantz processing and pre amp is very good so an A+ amp would do it.)
Any particular reason why ANTHEM? Plus have you decided which model? The reason why I ask, I'm in the process of looking for a audiophile grade receiver and with my limited lazy ass research, I'm tending to lean towards ARCAM but hey it would be great for me, if we happen to get the same receiver because I know you like to share your thoughts and I could learn so much from you! 😁
Dude. I've got a question (and please, don't throw rocks at me if what I'm asking is stupid) I have the Pioneer Andrew Jones Speaker setup which I used with my old Pioneer elite AVR. The AVR bit the dust So I'm on the market for a new one. Would the SR5015 be "too much" for my speakers? (I'm not planning on changing them for some time if ever) or would it be a good match? I know the speakers can handle the amp. What I'm asking is would this AVR be overkill for the speakers? Would I be investing my money better by going with something "cheaper"? Reason I want to go with Marantz is because of the sound. I double my AVR as my main stereo. So "musical sound" is important for me. Sony for instance has great movie sound. But kind of sucks when playing in stereo. Anyway, would I be better by going with one of the NR series? The low profile amps? Thanks! Hope you get to read this comment.
Start small and then build up rather than trying to buy everything at once. I made that mistake where I bought all the speakers and ended buying cheap speakers just so they fit in my budget. 3 years later I replaced all of them slowly with high end speakers.

I don't use the internal amplification in the receiver so the 8015 wouldn't make sense. So 7705 was the better choice. External amps are necessary if you need a lot of power
Nice channel, hey pal in your opinion the pre Amp 7705 would sound to much better than just the new marantz 8015 avr? I am undecided between those two. And if I use the new option in the 8015 on pre mode only using external amplifier would it be the same sound as a pre Amp like 7705? Thanks

Ive been a Yamaha person for years and currently use the 2080 to power my Polk LSIM series. You now have got me thinking. Would you say the marantz is warmer sounding than the Yamaha? Im currently finding my Polk LSIM 706C center is a bit harsh sitting directly in front of it about 7.5 ft back. Im going to try putting the 706 off axis to see if that might tame the harshness. Maybe its time to try a marantz ? what is model number you are using? Thanks
Yamaha is warmer than marantz and I found that yamaha has a bit more emphasis on the lows which is probably why you have this issue but you could EQ it out in the parametric EQ menu. I'm using the 7705.
@@Kpaceguy thanks- Using the parametric EQ.should I try to level out the center channel or could you tell me what frequencies I should drop? Sorry Ive never used it before. thanks
@@mattgiunt its hard to mess with those things without some kind of mic and graph BUT if you're describing something as harsh it means your upper frequencies need to be adjusted and maybe even the Midrange. The higher the number the higher the frequencies so I'd start at the upper end of the spectrum and lower the volume and see what that does to the sound. If you mess anything up you can always reset it
Just bought a sr 6011 for €425 since my old denon 2113 and 4 days ago my x3300w had clipping/sparky noise when changing the audio source. Hope this marantz will give me more luck😅
Hey Kpaceguy I have a couple questions to ask you on the Marantz av 7705 how can you get the equalizer on the Marantz preamp ? And how do you get to the Imax enhance and Atmos ?
Eq is only via the auddessy app. Imax/atmos is automatically decoded when it detects it from the source whether that be a bluray disk or streaming service
I have the AV7705. You can get to the manual graphic EQ by pressing "Setup" on your remote, then you'll see a list of options on your TV screen. Go to "Audio" (the first on at the top of the list) then you'll see another list, and at the bottom of that is "Graphic EQ". For your info, that's the only equalization I use. (I don't bother with Audyssey.)
Marantz is warm and not neutral or particularly acuare. I would say pioneer sounds more accurate and analytical while marantz does actually color the sound. Not in bad way but it definitely isn't neutral. Also not all of them have toroidals, just saying😉
@@Kpaceguy Compaired to Pioneer or yamaha. Not all of them but overal. Technics and onkyo and denon do have quite a few amps that sound kind of warm. But thats my experience. Yours might differ 🤷♂️

Which one would you get between those three ?
How do these AVRs cope being on for nearly all day everyday as the center of living room entertainment? Especially being Class AB and the potential to run hotter or being generally less efficient than Class D.
Hopefully, if they're not actually switching them out every week when they die 😅. Some of the 2019 models are on deep sales now, so I'm considering something. Was looking at the slim Class D from Pioneer/Onkyo/Integra but they seem to be hard to find with all the supply problems they've been having. I run two systems with the Marantz AV7705’s as the preamplifier.
What brand do you use for external amplifier
SVS 7.3 Ultra System uses the Emotiva DR3 and XPA5,G3 and the Klipsch 7.2 System uses the Parasound A-52+ and A-23+
William T dam are you rich that’s some serious equipment you got there
Thank you. Both systems sound pretty good.
We need to see them entered in an episode of subscriber showcase
My marantz has recently lost 2 of the 3 hdmi outs. Don’t think I’m going back in kind... more than likely anthem, emotiva, or arcam if budget allows
I prefer more info on the display panel of the unit (that I can turn on/off) without the need to interrupt what's on TV to see/adjust settings
I now have MARANTZ 7015 got it for 1899. But I’ll be looking for my life time system here in the next few years. With the Marantz I also got SVS center ultra and bookshelves ultras.

Anthem MRX 1120 (2016 model) cost $3500 , Marantz SR8015 (2020 model) cost $3200, Denon AVR-X6700H (2020 model) cost $2500.
All 3 are 11 channel and the prices are original pricing in today. No wonder everyone love the anthem avr sounds.
We have 2 Marantz 7.1 the SR5600 paired with JBL speakers & Wharfedale speakers! Love it Thanks! Going with Yamaha or Anthem MRX720 in the future if budget permits. Thanks & God bless you!
Ê
I'm planning to buy new av receiver.. having oscillation b/w marantz and anthem .. waiting for your anthem review bro..
what did you choose? I'm not sure if i want a SR5015 or a MRX540. I love music and video games on PC, no movies. I want a 5.1.2 setup and I know i'll have to get an external amp with the MRX 540. Budget is a concern for me, but i also want a good sound.
Hi Kyle how are you doing today Sir? I am sorry I haven't spoken to you in a while. I have been working 95 to 100 hours every 2 weeks at my work. I really love your Marantz receiver. I am going to be buying the Marantz SR-8015. My good friend who works for geeksquad as an Geeksquad Agent is using his employee discount on me so I can get the brand new Marantz SR-8015.
I appreciate it! You should consider showing everyone your setup on my upcoming subscriber showcase!
Marantz 9.2 and Yamaha 5.1 . If was going to take a step up it would be w a McIntosh quality (at a little lower price point, though) in a multi-channel Amp separate. Marantz processing and pre amp is very good so an A+ amp would do it.)
You're awesome keep up the good work☺️
I have the SR 1710 + MM7025 and Fantastic,
How long have you been using Marantz without problems? How many receivers / amplifiers?
3. For a decade
I also am biased towards Marantz but would you say for the same price Denon gives a lot more features?
Everyone offers the same features. It's all standard
I haven't picked a model because I don't know when I'll buy. But you know I'll make videos when I start shopping
denon x8500....
You will be fine to go with a Marantz. It'll give your speakers speakers chance to sound their best. I think you'll like it more than the pioneer
2000 dollars is rough man, here in Europe the sr5015 only costs 750
Paid $1300 US for mine which is similar in price to yours.
sr5015 cost around 1750$ un Canada 😢
I just buy SR6015 today, still in the box. Excited to open and start, but speakers are very costly.

Thanks
They'd sound pretty identical for the most part. New avr would just unlock 8K, eARC, dts:x pro and faster bandwidth for hdmi.

Thank you
@@Kpaceguy I have 1 more quick question to ask you do you turn your Marantz 7705 off 1st or do you turn your power amp off 1st ?
I have the AV7705. You can get to the manual graphic EQ by pressing "Setup" on your remote, then you'll see a list of options on your TV screen. Go to "Audio" (the first on at the top of the list) then you'll see another list, and at the bottom of that is "Graphic EQ". For your info, that's the only equalization I use.
