It was the BSA Gods Keith. My WW2 era M33 500cc OHV with it's unique police department stamp on the engine casing, fully original and running was basically stolen during Covid with these country lockdowns. Nice pics and Happy Days again mate. Great shots.

Thanks Marco. I have had quite a few modern Triumphs but now running a 1998 Yam Fazer 600. Bad luck getting the Beezer stolen. Cheers, Keith

When life throws you lemons, HP5 with a yellow filter always makes sadness go away. As for the Pentax 17, it's a great camera from Ricoh Pentax and demand has far exceeded their expectations. They can't make them fast enough!

      Thanks Jim.
The combo certainly made me smile.
I sincerely hope that the 17 gives Pentax the impetus to develop a full frame "hobbyist" camera. I wonder how many of the doubters would have loved to have received a "freebie".
      Cheers, Keith

The image with the wind turbine and the ship as a juxtaposition is a ripper Keith. How us humans will use wind.

Hi Keith, just found your channel and like the easy approach to your videos. I too am an Oldun (75) and still enjoy film photography. I started with a Zenit E in the mid 60's and upgraded to a Canon FTb in '72 - it was like going from a tractor to a sports car! I remained a Canon man from then on. I now have a reasonable collection of various format cameras with an outing for one of them each week (I try not to have a favourite, but I do love my Canon A1 and T90!). Keep up the good work. PS I have subscribed...

Thanks Ray. My main focus (ha!) these days is 35mm film and I find enjoyment in using most cameras. I recently picked up an A1, which was my first Canon manual focus and I have to say it is a great camera. I would have answered earlier but I was able to get out with 2 cameras today for the first time in a while (video will follow). Thanks again, Keith

Pleased to hear you're a happy photographer Keith, the shots looked good. As for colour and contrast shifts, I find our TV is very different to my laptop, phone and pc monitor.
My Pentax also got lost in the post, perhaps we should complain :)

Thanks Andrew. We must have the same postman. I really can't understand why so many people have been complaining about it being too expensive, unless it's because they weren't on the freebie list 😄. Cheers, Keith

Hi Keith, love a yellow filter! Great images. Done exactly the same check as you on the Pentax 17 price with Wallace Heaton and the BOE inflation calculator. I'm amazed that Ricoh/Pentax have managed to produce a new film camera at that price point.

It's always good to get your groove back! I just ran my first roll of Ilford Delta 3200 through 510-Pyro. Good stuff but my old stand-by is Rodinal.

Thanks Steve. This journey on youtube where I have started developing B&W then C41 has had a few setbacks, but the comebacks have all been great. I have yet to try Rodinall and that will probably be my next purchase. Cheers, Keith

Thanks for being so clear on the price issue. I'm amazed at people's comment on prices. They really expect a brand new camera that costs the same as a second hand one from 40 years ago, when those costed as much or even more this one does back then! Same thing with the new Rollei 35AF. Complaining about a potential 800€ price tag, and completely oblivious to how expensive Rolleis were back when they were new!

    • @theoldunsshot1005
      @theoldunsshot1005  Před měsícem +1

Thanks. I think Pentax have done the right thing - release a camera at the fastest growing area of the film camera market and if successful then develop a more serious product. Second hand Olympus mju II cameras are selling to this market for £300 plus and they aren't as good as the price suggests. Cheers, Keith

You are spot on with comments about the Pentax 17 there's a lot it's not, but the one thing it is, is its a brand new quality film camera and running something like Delta 100 film through it should easily make 8x10 or even A4 prints at half the film cost, compared to full frame.

Thanks Stephen. Yeah, the examples I saw had great colour rendition and sharpness and a bit more grain, so I think we will see some super shots coming from owners soon. Cheers, Keith

Keith, don't give up on the c41 just yet ..being doing mine for the last 6 months. Apart from 1 lost film ,developer was shot everything good .. In fact I find it easier than b/w . Great vids by the way 👏..

I've noticed the light levels are different when looking at my scans using different devices Keith. Anyway those scans seem to be spot on looking at them on my phone, as we are having a short break in Wales so I'm using my phone. I pal of mine once mentioned that even without filters when scanning negs the scanner always manages to define the clouds and it's something I've noticed too. In the old darkroom days it would require a bit of dodging to get effective clouds. Keep safe👍

I just use Calibrize, a free downloadable, to calibrate my screen, been using it for over 10 years, works fine. I have to be slightly careful with gamma and all that as it brings on migraines.
Photo's look crisp. That's exactly where the Bounty came in (on the back of the Pirates of the Caribbean movies) some years ago. Sadly I heard it sank off the east coast of the USA in a storm, taking some of its crew with it.
As for the Pentax I'm sure the company did plenty of market research before putting it into production and there's very few digital cameras you can buy for £$500 new ... will I be buying one, maybe ... in 2042 !

@@theoldunsshot1005 If you're really getting into colour development then I'd recommend watching Shaka1277 's CZcams channel. I can just about keep up with his terminology, as he tries to keep things simple ... for the likes of me. Although he speaks quickly as he's Irish. He has multiple vlogs on Harman Phoenix and how to get the best from it, amongst many other films.
