    Ty Livernois: I was looking for a new shop, and this video convinced me not to use you.
    What he doesn't tell you is. Don't put slicks on that car. These LT1's and SS's are known for snapping driveshafts and axles at 600+ rwhp. You'll be fine on street tires, because you won't get enough traction on a launch for it to break anything. And that's not to say anything about Drop-in Pistons and Rods, but I highly recommend it.
    When you start pushing 600+ at the wheels, you need to seriously consider swapping to a ZL1 rear end or equivalent if you plan to drag strip the car on slicks or anything with tiger claws for traction in a straight line.

    • @LivernoisMotorsports
      @LivernoisMotorsports  Před rokem +2

      In approaching 8 years of modifying 6th gen Camaros, we've never failed a driveshaft, axles, or differential. Even with mid 9-second runs. Typically wheel hop is what breaks driveline items, so a proper tire and prep work prevent this.

    • @Fluke2SS
      @Fluke2SS Před rokem

      @@LivernoisMotorsports Sadly, I regret now making that comment. But, not because what I said isn't true. But because now that Strictly Performance went under you guys are the only ones in the state with the best upgrade packages. And as I may use you guys to work on my car. I'll concede defeat in this case in hopes I don't get shafted in the future for it. Pun intended.
      But just to prove my point look up JLSpeed on CZcams and watch what happened to his C8 rear end on stock tires at stock power levels. Now imagine what would have happened if he used Hoosier slicks. And there are plethora of stories about Gen 6's snapping axles and drive shafts with drag packs on the Camaro 6 forums and on youtube.
      Of the people who don't have issues, they are running street tires which never get enough traction to stress the axles and drive shaft anyways. That's why you don't hear about it every day. I know several people running 700-900 rwhp on 6th gens with a stock rear end, but they fully admit they don't run drag packs either.
      All I'm saying is people need to be aware of it is all.

    • @LivernoisMotorsports
      @LivernoisMotorsports  Před rokem +1

      Honestly, the "stock pistons are weak" isn't really true, to this day, we have never had a stock LT1 piston break on us, and we have been supercharging them since 2014. The issue is, tuners typically run these far leaner than they should, which burns up the piston, and then blame the piston itself as to why. As for remote tuning, on some combos, we do offer supercharged support for an optional upgrade, but not all packages.

Im thinking of ordering an LT1 (merely looks. I just dont like the SS, and the ZL1 lost a lot of options literally from yesterday to today...maybe its 2023s coming, so hopefully I can order it how I want, rather than building yet another project lol)

      We've never lost a bottom end on one of these, so in our opinion, they're very durable. But they are different than an lt4. This is an auto, but the manual transmission would handle the power as well. But depending on how aggressive you drive, you may want to upgrade the clutch.

    • @LivernoisMotorsports

      We have several 700HP+ builds on stock internals. The problem is, most tuners run these overly lean because of the false belief that you can since it's direct injected. We've been building gen5 LT combinations since 2013, and we haven't lost a single stock engine for anything power related, no matter the power we've pushed them to.
      In fact, the only gen5 engine we've ever had fail for any of our customers was an early build 2014 Corvette due to the infamous "machining error" GM had on the first run of engines.

      The car made 7hp more with the hood closed than open, but the median results were within 1-2hp. Or, less than the error in the Dyno from one run to another.
      We keep the hood open for safety and visual inspections during the tuning process. But all results are verified with hoods closed.

      Well, you can write the manufacturer who designed it. But there's plenty of 8 and 9 second procharged Camaros that seem to do just fine with that location.
      As for hood open, all power gains are validated both open and closed. Don't believe what the Internet says. Almost no vehicle changes power in any significant way hood open or closed. But, as a Dyno operator, not being able to have a clear line of sight for any potential issues while running a power sweep is a surefire way to continue running a vehicle that should have been shut off for safety purposes.
