Honestly, I grew up with nothing like this - Eminem, Spice Girls, Britney Spears, you name it. This? It grasped me at the first listen. One song was enough, and I never looked back.
The way I see it, Steven Wilson "saved" my musical life. He opened doors to bands and genres I didn't even know existed.

Well - it's 3am in an old stone house in Sydney's outer suburbs: the house band has packed up, most of the guests have gone home to bed and a few of us hardcore folk are crammed on top of an old sofa with the last of the beers from the ancient bathtub in the back yard. We're a little bit out there, philosophical and very opinionated about the stuff that is getting thrown up on the 24 hour music video channel at such early hours. And then on comes...a clip much like this. & it's utterly fantastic, music and delivery, crushing guitars and voices from some wonderful ether. Except we're NOT in the late 80s, we're in a newer and fresher place and Steve Wilson is dropping this fantastic music. Wow - many thanks from some old party hacks...but we're always so appreciative of newer musical visions. Enjoy, folks!

This is one of the best comments I've read on CZcams... Seriously... I just know that I seriously consider Steven Wilson to be the greatest artist of this generation and I am so thankful that he's not only amazing, but so prolific. Everything he touches seems to turn to musical gold...

Ben Bowker I actually been trying to find the right track for a intro for a show idea. I would totally take this for it just with more of a droning and horror-esque feel. True detective season 1 is really damn fantastic though.

Just in case anyone is searching the net for what's the reference with that girl with her hair on the water at 3:13, no, it's not "Ring", it's "Zerkalo", by Andrei Tarkovski. The description says "a homage to the old euro cinema greats", just pointing you to the right direction (I had a little search on the net and saw lots of people saying it was "Ring" reference, and come on, grow up, it's Steven).

lol. his two solo albums? Insurgents, Grace for Drowning, The Raven that Refused to Sing, and Hand.Cannot.Erase are all spectacular albums. 4 1/2 is nice too but that's not a true album, it has a groovy little remix of Don't Hate Me on it though.

+tmage23 I get what you mean. Sorry if my response came out sour. I felt pretty let down when I first heard insurgents just because i had such high hopes after The Incident. It really wasn't untill after I heard Storm Corrosion and Grace For Drowning that I came to like it.

Sometimes people just dislike a thing as a silly proof of individuality... But in situations like these, you just got to admit you are observing/listening to a universal masterpiece. So, those who thinks that being original is disliking this are behaving as tasteless chimps. Still, i respect them...
