- As Danerys Taergaryn on "Game of Thrones," Emilia Clarke plays a character who can walk through fire. And the actress has found that, in some ways, she can, too. She tells correspondent Tracy Smith that portraying a strong woman on TV helped her to be one in life, when she suffered a subarachnoid hemorrhage, twice, and nearly died. Having completed ten years' production on the hit HBO series, Clarke has started a charity, SameYou, for brain injury survivors.

@Thomandy It was only ever non-innocent people. If they wanted to go this route, they needed to do a better job showing her steady descent to madness over the course of back to back seasons.
@Thomandy The surprise comes from not expecting it to happen so abruptly due to it being so rushed without proper setup, so I can see why.

I feel bad for her after 8x05. She said she had to take a walk out when she read the scripts. If they have done that to me I would’ve taken a walk and never return.
She hyped episode 5 up, saying it's mental and should be watched on the biggest TV. She clearly didn't mind that episode.
@@spenzur they are contractually obligated to promote the show though. I'm sure once they're done i'm sure we'll get a better picture of how messy everything was.

I think she is one of the actors that will have a solid career post-GOT because she was really smart about acting in movies where her character was so different from Dany while still filming GOT.

@@cje3083 She's been in a couple thingsand has done voice acting. The bigger movies she has been in has been "Me Before you" , "Solo:A Star Wars Story", and "Terminator Genisys". Me before you and Solo were decently successfull. The good thing about what she has done is that she has played different roles especially in Me Before you that are very different from Daenarys which will help a lot of preventing her being typecast and allow her more roles going foward.

In minute 2:11 she is really hurt by the answer to that question, she tries hard to hold the tears and tries to hide it with laughter.
She battled against brain aneurysm twice while doing the series and survived. What a badass queen indeed. I couldn't imagine any other person who can play daenerys as she does. Emilia is a very admirable woman.
She just finished Season 8. She goes to a tv show and says „incredible writing and storytelling of the show“.

Back in 2011, I had a series of 3 hemorrhagic strokes. They informed my daughter that I only had a 30% chance of making it, so this is some serious stuff.
I'm so glad that this lovely person made it through with no apparent sequelae from the strokes.
Very serious. Aneurysms, people die from them. Everyone doesnt seek help in time.

I’m convinced no one loves Daenerys more than Emilia. I’ve never seen an actress reference, quote, and talk about their character so often and so lovingly even after the project ended.

I never knew she'd been through that trouble with her brain. I keep an eye on GOT news but somehow that passed me by. Glad she's okay now though.

Its hard looking at those photos but it makes you really admire her even more bec you can see how she wanted to die, how tired,how helpless,vulnerable&weak she is&for her to keep all of that and be her usual self who brightens up a room with just her smile / laugh/ personality & humor & so FULL OF LIFE after a few weeks/months after those critical moments is just😭❤️😩 That if she didn’t open up , no one would even believe she did.

They didn't ruin her, they made her one of the best characters. It's all fun and games to have an evil character redeemed, but having the guts to follow through with a storyline that has the most beloved character on the show gradually become the biggest villain in pretty badass and honestly only GRRM would. I just wish they'd agreed to do more seasons so it could also be one of the best storylines ever. The issue with it is that it's rushed.
I love the stories of the actors from this show.

I feel like quite a lot of the Game of Thrones cast comes across as genuine nice people (even if the characters they play are not lol).
It's often been said that the nicest people make the best baddies, or most unlikable characters.
Probable exception is Charles Dance. That guy can come across as intimidating even off screen.
@@ahmedharris7148 He can come across that way but that isn't him, from everything I've seen and heard. Especially with how he got on with Maisie Williams. Watch his interviews and his guest appearances on panel and it shows off his sense of humour.
