All crap aside, what's not to love about a V8 body on frame that will last million miles??
This is so very true!
Rare species of body on frame with a naturally aspirated V8.
I feel like analog speedometer are classy. and I love it Joe when you said "take out some Bon Jovi or Sting". You are getting a like from me just for that
I just bought a 2004 gx470 1 owner 73k miles no accidents for $13k. Watching this makes me feel like I made the right choice lol
NovaCreep you absolutly did that lexus will drive you another 200k miles with no problem!! They are the best automaker in the world!!!
you are a thief, you stole that 470 :) very nice
Great choice i have a 04 just hit 300k, and the way its running its got another 200k easy
Wow you fuckin scored, bro.
@@KZ-do6il I have 2016 and just reached 65k miles, it’s a great highway cruiser even with BFG KO2
Joe I rarely say this to other reviewers, but i really do enjoy your reviews. Honest, meaningful, and to the point, so your reviews are a joy to watch. I initially wanted a 2022 RX for my wife, but she test drove the newly updated 2022 GX 460 and she loved the ride. Although I was not really a fan of this GX, but watching some videos and after seeing it in person and driving one, I really like it. I put a deposit at Longo Lexus here in Southern California and hopefully will get one in about a month. This truck is growing on me.
Big Lexus fan here! Thanks for the video. Keep up the good work you and Lori!
I had a 2004 GX for seven years, and the car was literally stress-free during the whole ownership. The reliability made me think the car can even survive in an apocalypse.. Once my current lease is up I would consider this one again!
Joe I really love your reviews. along with plenty of info, you give us alot of laughs also. thanks again. looking forward to your next review!
Raiti you are the best reviewer on CZcams!!! KEEP IT UP !!! ABSOLUTELY LOVE YOUR CONTENT!!!
Third time watching this video. Thanks Joe, you're helping me with narrowing down the list.
I am so glad that I can help with the hunt!
Great review! I bought a 2020 Atomic Silver w/Premium package in early Jan. I hear what others say about it being outdated and had similar sentiment, until I drove one. It's extremely comfortable and feels rock solid. Plus, it has the million mile Tundra motor. It's truly a 500K mile (or more) SUV and absolutely can go off-road if you so desire. I personally love the interior (especially the steering wheel as it feels great and very solid in your hands), as its high quality and isn't overdone with most functions being easy to use. Lastly, you get all of the safety features that (I believe) were only available on luxury versions until 2020. We had to rent an SUV for my wife and wound up with a very large 2018 Infinity (can't recall which model). I couldn't believe how cheap the interior felt compared to the GX. I'll admit that the interior looked more contemporary,, but sometimes less is more.
Thanks for the compliment and for letting me share this one with you! Thanks for sharing that great input from your ownership.
May I ask how much did you pay for your car ? I put in a offer for 49,000 not sure if I did it good or bad ? Any recommendations plz ?
Btw the its standard gx 460 not premium. It was listed msrp 57,000 with some discount. Final price is 53,980. I offered 49,000. How do you think ?
I'm a fellow GX owner and love mine but the engine is not the same as those million mile Tundras. That's a 4.7 liter V8 tuned very differently, while the GX has the 4.6 liter V8.
@@alh06 the first generation GX aka GX470 has the million mile 4.7 V8 engine, as you mentioned the second generation aka GX460 has the 4.6 which is not the million mile record breaking Toyota V8.
Body on frame love the Lexus GX460, the little brother of the LX570 and the Toyota Landcruiser, the reliability is awesome. This Lexus GX460 Twin Brother is the Toyota Land Cruiser Prado which is driven in other parts of the world especially Australia. Keep up the awesome content on youtube Raiti's Rides.
Thanks for the extra info and for your wonderful compliment!
Thanks Joe for another great review. I have to agree that the center console and drivers console is really outdated. They should transition into an LCD panel display. At least it still has a manual shifter and not one of those switches like in an Acura MDX. By the way is this tank a manual transmission? I thought it was when I saw you move the shifter around.
That 3rd row is super cramped back there but more functional if you’re a soccer mom and have 3 or more kids or their friends to transport around on Saturday mornings driving to the game. Passenger Adults are more suited to be seated in the middle row but you can only bring along 2 more comfortably..
As for the maroon Odyssey that cut you off twice, you missed 2 opportunities to test out the sound of that horn. Even that Odyssey has more space in the rear seats and cargo area. I also think the switches near the shifter should be located on the drivers side to avoid having your passenger accidentally throw one of them off while going along for the ride.
If I were to take a Lexus out off-roading, I would invest in a used model more than 5 years or older since it’ll get beaten up a lot. I have a friend who loves his 2005 model and he uses that thing to literally climb rocks. 😳
Mine is 2016, looks almost identical except the front grill. In my view, it’s the best all around vehicle money can buy. The only thing I am going to zonk is a/c fan control. No button, have to use the touch screen
Great review, good looking truck inside and out!!
Thanks for the review. I have an 07 GX470 with which I tow a 20' travel trailer. My only complaint are the sideview mirrors. Lexus/Toyota should offer powered or manual mirror extensions.
Keep up the good work nice vlogs
I bought the 21" Platinum model in atomic silver. The interior is timeless, beautiful crafted and very luxurious. It also has the most comfortable soft ride I have experienced between al cars. On top of that, it has the Lexus legendary quality as well; even the air suspension is extremely reliable and durable, and outlasting regular suspensions on other cars.
We have an 2017 RX350 as well; its equally an excellent vehicle.
First off congrats! Second thank you for sharing that excellent points on your ownership.
You should start looking for sponsorship from Twinkies, Lays and stuff. Haha great review!
BMW buyers be like:my interior has newer tech.
Lexus buyers be like : my car will go over 200,000 miles without any major issues.
But this is unashamedly outdated 🙁
Izz Wanted lmao that means getting a new one is pointless. You get the same stuff buying a used one.
BMW buyers "who keeps their car 200k miles?"
Kevin Harris broke people who still want a luxury car but don't wanna pay for constant repairs
Great to see a postage stamp fits when all seats are up 🤣
Remote start on the key is to press the lock 3 times and hold
I love these vehicles more!! Great job Joe.
Purchase a LEXUS & forget it. They are just meant to last. I'll never own another brand of vehicle. Enjoyed your review, sir. My wife purchased one from her credit union (repo) in 2020 (executive) and it's been as good as advertised. Love the review!
Looks fantastic!!
Yes even that Monster has a couple Zonks, but the significance of its attributes vs zonks, it's pretty Awesome.
It is the 4Runner Limited with a V8 & Air Suspension... for @round $25k more, which is the justification for settling for the T4R Limited w/ AWD.
🤡👍
my mom has the older gx470 and the infotainment looks similar. Needs update for sure
Very honest review not overwhelming
I have a 2016 GX 460 with 70k mi. Solid with no issues. Lexus is not quick to do major updates because reliability is so valued. My kind of company. BTW, I also have a 2002 Sequoia w/ 230K miles. I'm sold on Toyota.
if i were to choose between 2020 gx vs honda pilot 2025 or pathfinder, which will i choose?
What sound system does it have? I am thinking between this and qx80
like everything but the price good vedio joe ..
Joe yesterday I was scrolling GX on Google and there you go, thanx buddy
what's up with the camera angle during the test drive?
Wow, great review. We are looking at buying a new 2021. I want a vehicle to go 300k miles without too much trouble. I'm scared to buy a turbo charged V6 or 4 cylinder with a ridiculous timing chain system for dual overhead cams.
Toyota sell this as the more rugged off-road Landcruiser in some other markets, they even have a short wheel base 2 door version. It hasn't changed much over the last decade or so, definitely due a redesign especially the interior.
Nice review.
Other than a mini van i don't think the 3rd row was intended for adults. They are perfect for kids that are not taller than 5' 3 or 5' 4".
Its the same for my MDX but we bought it for the extra room, otherwise we would have just bought the RDX.
Goose Gear makes a great platform you can use if you remove the rear 3rd row in your GX460. It makes this SUV have much more usable space.
I’ve been in the third row of one of those but I didn’t figure out how to raise the headrest because the owner of the car didn’t raise it so I was stuck with a headrest digging into my back
My boyfriend friend just got this suv and man oh man this thing is nice I need a suv since I have 2 kids now I’m thinking about getting one I love the square box look
Take his 😂
When are you doing a review on Q7 2020 model ?
i love your review💚
Thanks for saying that!
I want so much to buy one of these- best engine on the market, but the interior is outdated. And the rear door hatch that swings outward? I still may trade my RX in on one. Great review.
I think Toyota reliability came from the fact that they refuse to adopt new technology.
My dad has the exact type of car and it is black and I like the usb plug in the back
I love this vehicle. Comfort and reliability is why I have this model. Only thing missing is carplay or android auto.
Like those captain chairs seats
2020 !! that infotainment looks straight out of a throwback 4Runner !!!!!
You are so very right Karlito!
The GX is getting updated on 2022 along side 4runner and Prado
You are so very right!
We’ll it appears the infotainment will have CarPlay and AA as well as a 10.3 inch screen, but the major overhaul does t look like it’s in the cards until 2023 or 2024.
The postage stamp comment had me LMAO.
Nice review sir
Thank you so much for letting me share this one with you!
I really like this SUV.
I love the square design
The box look is the best look! but what do I know? I’m just a early 2000s Chevy guy
Love the candy talk 😂😂😂
Thanks for letting me bring a little fun!
Im just waiting for GX and LX to be updated :)
Press lock button 3 times for remote start on Lexus.
Did u have vide of the new Camry AWD ???
Can someone please tell me why the back of the Lexus gx is different from what I’ve seen. The back has those red lights the one I see has silver lights at the back? Which one is which I’m confused.
This specific Lexus has the 'Sport Design Package' and part of the package includes 'scarlet tail lamps' which removes the chrome you'd typically see.
My local mechanic has one of those. I'd wait for the redesign personally 😂👍🏻
Great vid, Joe!
I totally agree with you Victor.
Or get one L Certified. 2017’s go for 41,000 or lower
@@toddgersh I think my mechanic got a fully loaded one for $36K 😂👌🏼
Victor Le well that is lower.😘
What a beautiful front end!’
With that grille, you kidding me? Let's hope it's not as bad as the LX570's.
Amazing truck
Very Nice 👍🏼
Would be interesting to see the buyer demographics, but I’m guessing repeat buyers who don’t like change and have money to comfortably buy/lease in that segment frequently.
The arm rest is a big zonking zonk for me too my brother.
Still waiting on the RX 350 or the IS joe
They should make the third row as and Option and then lower the price of the base model little bit. Kind of how the GLB make the third row as an option. If they remove the third row out, the cargo space would be much more usable. Some people would rather have a big cargo space than a cram third row. I'm one of them.
Dated = reliable... I'm so sick of new tech giving me grief
Lag is Free yep
Exactly man. New tech is giving too much distraction while driving.... Why would i care looking at the numbers on my dashboard and the maps when i should be focusing on the road....
Karen Moore what did you get?
@@Dlayne84 I bought the Lexus GX 2020. Haven't driven it since I brought it home.
Yes, I just bought a 2020 GX because of the lack of tech. I don’t have a need for it or want it. I’d rather they use money on stuff like driving mechanics and quality materials.
Beautiful
For both front and rear bumper spoilers (bumper lips), I have been looking for it everywhere and couldn't find them. I asked the dealer to order them and the lady told me I had to get the car with the Sport package. I do not believe they are integrated. I believe they are just pieces of plastic screwed onto the bumpers. However, I looked everywhere and couldn't find them.
It's a special package called the sport design that includes the red taillights. You'll never find it as an after market stick on for your bumpers.
15 and 19.... wow still ok for a v8... might consider but I prefer brand new from 1918 to 2020 model
Hi is lexus expensive to maintain?
Dream Car!! Love it!
Random question ..whatever happened to those under the bumper foot sensors to open the trunk.I always thought those were soo cool but I don’t see any manufacturers using them anymore... I figured luxury cars would LOVE that feature
They are far and few between Brendon.
These Car companies need to start sponsoring you. You work so hard and love doing this that these companies need to say thank you someway in a huge way.
And updated version of this with a 4.0 V6 with 300hp and 300lb of torque with a combined 20mpg would be perfect. Also a touchscreen infotainment and newer toggle switches and tech would make it perfect. Price it from 50k-65k and it’s golden!
If the interior infotainment and rear headlights were not outdated, I would choose this car over any car no problem
I totally understand where you are coming from!
Gx 460 or 2017+ nissan armada which one rides better and more comfortable?
Armada way bigger i think. It is the same size as the Sequois.
Keren banget mobilnya,, 👍👍👍👍
Just purchased one 2 weeks ago. Drives great and knew what we were in for.
My only grips are... no heated steering wheel, dimming side mirrors and remote start is for 3 years only and a subscription afterwards. Lexus!!! WTF???!!! 60K C'mon!!!
Jerry Leung Try using remote start with the fob. A good majority of newer Toyota products give you secret remote start. My 2020 Corolla has it and it wasn’t advertised as such. Try, on the key fob, hitting the lock button twice, and then hit it a 3rd time and hold it. This should start the vehicle without using the subscription service. If it doesn’t work the first time, try it a few more times with different spacing between the button presses. Sometimes the timing can be a little picky.
I shall try and get back to you sir!!! THANK YOU!!!
@@evandanielsson1347 I'M NOT WORTHY!!!!! 🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
@@jerryclleung 😂
LOVE IT!!!!!!!!! I could care less if people say it’s outdated!!!!!!!!!!
Beast!!!!!!!!
Hey my brother checking in
Wow .. it is my dream car .
2021 gx 460? Please review.
It drinks premium only. Don't ask about the combined mpg.
Nice review as usual but Lexus should be ashamed for the lack of upgrades to this expensive truck 🤦🏽♂️
This is an ancient vehicle in terms of engine and interior looks and design but boy do they still sell like hot cakes.
It’s a dammm shame this thing doesn’t have CarPlay or Android Auto.
I recently purchased one, they do have remote start click lock twice, hold on the third click u will see it start to flash then engine will start, love this truck I like the fact I can still buy a new old skool
Thanks for sharing that great input fro your ownership!
Looks pretty good. Now when are they gonna update the IS?
Do the lx 570 next
The best suv ever one day I'll buy one but its not updated
👍 Nice looking vehicle. The engine numbers are a little disappointing considering the $71k price tag. The infotainment looks outdated as you said. This vehicle shouldn’t have a third row. Excellent review Joe!
Good morning Louis!
Raiti's Rides - Morning Joe!
Yea that third row is cramped. Go for the LX if you need 3 rows haha
Does this sport the KDSS suspension?
Yes all of them do.
It’s alright
Just here to remove a zonk. You can remote star the car by clicking the lock button 3 times and hold the lock button for 10 seconds on the 3rd click
Tommy Tran that Lexus GX is OLD AS HELL. Who knows if they even had it then 😳
Land cruiser next please
Outdated that works. No one care apple car play and android auto, this is a proper truck!
This truck should be getting a new look next year. That’s the good thing about Lexus/ Toyota they don’t to Major update every 2 years
@@anthonymolina7416 i think looks great, if compare other body on frame trucks, i will buy one, amazing reliability, luxury, V8 4.6L engine its proper 6 spd trans. So i think if they make change it has to be good, like they changed ES350, or IS350F sport. I like changes but hate cvt trans or whe they use 8spd trans in cars just dont make sence, my rx350 17 model gets 18mpg , and this tank get 15 which is not bad at all
I wish Lexus would offer the cool box as an option in USA 🇺🇸. Only in Canada 🇨🇦
If you like real offroaders body on frame with v8 i highly recomend getting it now. Next 10 years will be v6 with turbos for those kind of cars.
You are so very right!
When the new shape come you think by 2022
