Gary came down to Richmond and we decided it was time to get another Estill County 2001, this one is in a denser area compared to the previous one I filmed. Also went for a bit of a distance shot. These are in service across Estill County due to the proximity of the Bluegrass Army Depot (BGAD) where chemical weapons are stored and destroyed. The Chemical Stockpile Emergency Preparedness Program (CSEPP) requires certain populations within close proximity to a chemical weapons facility to have outdoor warning sirens. Several other counties nearby also utilize sirens for CSEPP (most/all of them are also used for weather as well). Enjoy!
Estill County sirens are tested the second Wednesday of each month at 1:00 PM ET.
