I worked on this video, as assistant to the director. I’m at 1:24 and various other points throughout. It was a long shoot and a lot of fun. We finished about six the next morning after an early start the previous day. No sleep for well over 24 hours.I got on well with all the band and was on call to assist them in their performances. Really lovely bunch of people. That red paint took days to get off though. I went shortly after with the director to watch them play at the Brixton Academy. I had a beaming smile when Skin saw me at the bar in the afterparty and shouting “Leon!” ran across the room and gave me a hug. Great song, great band and great memories.

In the 90ies MTV had not been fully commercialized, thus Music was pushed in the middle that is now, MTV being fully commercialized, being pushed at the borders. 🙁

Sometimes i put Skunk anansie album on on spotify and drive my motorcycle until the album is done and put on the next skunk anansie album! Once i did over 1500km before i stopped for a rest. Love this band and love this woman!

This is such an amazing song. The singing is so good, the drumming is mega, and the string arrangement is just amazing. I never tire of this song.

Skunk Anansie are a British rock band whose members include Skin (lead vocals, guitar), Cass (bass, guitar, backing vocals), Ace (guitar, backing vocals) and Mark Richardson (drums and percussion). Skunk Anansie formed in 1994, disbanded in 2001 and reformed in 2009. The name "Skunk Anansie" is taken from Akan folk tales of Anansi the spider-man of Ghana, with "Skunk" added to "make the name nastier". They have released six studio albums: Paranoid & Sunburnt (1995), Stoosh (1996), Post Orgasmic Chill (1999), Wonderlustre (2010), Black Traffic (2012) and Anarchytecture (2016); one compilation album, Smashes and Trashes (2009); and several hit singles, including "Charity", "Hedonism", "Selling Jesus" and "Weak". They are often grouped as part of the Britrock movement, as opposed to the contemporary Britpop of their early years due to their overall harder sound. Stoosh is the second studio album by British rock band Skunk Anansie, released on 7 October 1996. Professional ratings: AllMusic's Tom Demalon stated: "Skunk Anansie's full-frontal charge can be wearing at times, but for a good dose of aggressive, hard rock with better-than-average lyrics, Stoosh succeeds more than it fails." I also love this video and all of Skunk Anansie's songs. Like all their fans, I have all the albums and I was sad to see that the band had broken up those many years ago.
I tried to follow Skin's music as much as I could over here in NZ, but its been difficult. She has such a beautiful voice and i've missed the hard edge of SA's lyrics and rock.
So I was extremely pleased to hear they are getting back together. (Don't want to say the "R" word.. lol ) ...SNM
A great singer backed up with a very talented band. They had about 5 songs which were so new, so beautiful, so powerful. They really will go down in history despite not having the popularity they deserved. But what the heck, I got to hear them (live as well.. just as good).

When I was younger, my sister and I were in an actingschool. My sister was a year above me and she had to play Medea in the play "Jason and Medea". When the part came where she had to kill her children and herself, this song started playing. She had to totally go crazy. It was, and still is one of the greatest acting performances I've ever seen. People were speechless. Here you had a girl, 13 years old, who was giving her all, who was raging and screaming as if she really was betrayed by her lover. Now, seven years later, I still think of this moment.
If only it was possible to see the performance...
