FYI: In case you were wondering, crow-tit is a bird and refers to the working class in SK. As there’s a Korean idiom that goes something like, “If a crowtit tries to walk like a stork it will break its legs” basically a meaning to stay in your lane and try not to rise above your station since a crow-tit is a bird with small legs. There’s another BTS song, Baepsae, which uses that as a metaphor for the struggles of the youth and those not born with privilege.
I believe there’s a making of video for this video - I’ve not watched it yet, but I’ve seen clips. Apparently this was a location in South Korea and not green screen at all. The rock formation behind them is real. Obviously, the circular stage wasn’t really ice, but it looked amazing. Great reaction.
When you watch the dance practice again, check out Jungkook (grey sweatpants) when the dancers form the canon and shoot at them. JK is rolling over in slow motion and it cracks me up ever single time. I don’t know why. Also, right before that, when they break through the barricade of backup dancers, V (red sweatpants) practically salsas out and I die every time. I could watch BTS all day.

Yes, "crow-tit", or "baepsae", is Korean slang for "try hard". Bird with short legs that can't get very far, or fast.

There is a behind the scenes making of this MV that shows them really running in a remote location in South Korea and a parking garage and the dancing in the freezing cold..... they and their crews are amazing!!!! EDIT: just to clarify, for this MV.... the “locations” and ice looking platform and running and backup dancers were alllllll real.

You are not "reaching" when looking for symbolism and imagery in the MVs. Their MVs actually have a connecting thread that runs through all of their albums and videos.
On top of that, their directors, staffers, and coordinators take their parts of a concept and go full out. Full. Out. Songs, hair, makeup, clothing, dance, facial expressions, body movement, set dressing, lighting, sound...
The boys and their company are a stunningly coordinated bunch. Their is a CZcamsr who is a voice coach and opera stage director who LOVES their stuff. He really gives good insights to the over-all package and minutia of the videos and performances. He adores BTS.

They do use green screen sometimes but not very often. Check out the video for “Idol” if want to se some super creative special effects! But like in “Fake Love” where there is fire, waterfalls and dropping floors is actually live.

I just want to say that it makes me really happy that you and your brother are introducing your nephew to BTS. They are positive role models that I believe will give him the strength to get through so much. I'm sure you do as well, but to have someone beside your family tell you the same thing is epic. And in the meantime, he may decide to learn about another culture is the cherry on top the sundae. Keep up the good work by involving him and keeping him busy in dance and other activities. Ive been an ARMY for a little over a year and my absolute favorite thing to watch is people reactions videos to BTS and to see them go from curious to fans over a course of a few videos. Lil' Man Is a great addition to your reactions. I loved the little things he picked up on. He zeroed in on the step count, the foot work and the clean formations. I hope he is in more videos or at least get more into the music. As you said they have powerful messages in their lyrics that our young people need to hear. Really EVERYONE needs to hear what they have to say. It's ALL about self empowerment and self love. Because you may have friends and family, but at the end of the day you REALLY only have yourself. Relationships end, friendships fade, family dies or falls out. So you need to know who you are and not be afraid to BE who you are and LOVE yourself for who you are because nobody else can do it for you.

I cannot wait until you all watch the HYYH (The Most Beautiful Moment in Life) era to Wings era videos. There is an entire storyline, theory, alternate universe for it. The fandom is still theorizing it. They created a whole webtoon around it.
Its RM in the timbalands this video but you will see Jungkook wearing them a lot in the earlier videos. I cant even imagine dancing intricate, tiring choreo in those! They're so trained. I like how you said they get better but these are older. They just are that good.
Quite a while ago I remember reading someone’s comment where they explained that the choreography for NOT TODAY represents the story of BTS, pretty interesting really. How RM and SUGA began at the “underground” level of rap; JUNGKOOK helped to bring them out into the open, but felt alone; then soon was joined by the others, etc. BTS encountered haters who tried to hold them back, but the boys were able to break through the line and stay strong, even when there were difficulties occasionally with a small faction of ARMYs who actually tried to hurt BTS (when we see the tank being formed and aimed at BTS). There was more to this, but I just don’t remember all of it.
I recall at the end though, that BTS and ARMY learned to work together and show love to one another, and at the very end BTS is seen linking arms and protecting the fans, who are safely behind BTS’s shield!! I hope that there are other “explained” videos out there for NOT TODAY, because I know I didn’t do it justice. If anyone knows of them, please lead us to them. It’s amazing how BTS’s MVs are never just a random collection of scenes; they’re carefully planned and thought out, everything put there for a reason!

Try the Melon Music Award Show 2018 for BTS. BTS incorporates traditional Korean dances in that performance (Idol). People were saying they are getting 'westernized' and BTS said: 'Hold my beer". There is also a bit of dance practice for it. It's not long, because they practiced WHILE they were on world tour.
They started using Green Screen in DNA and IDOL MV but they do it in an obvious/over-the-top way.
But you would enjoy the ‘making of’ videos because the rest of their MVs use practical effects and its really cool to see how much detail goes into filming it.

When BTS was going through a lot of difficulties since they are from a small entertainment company without any influence or money & had to deal with a lot of negative media playing & haters from fans of other famous idol groups!(but later BTS become the first successful idol group which aren’t from 3 major entertainment companies -SM, YG, JYP) They made this song during this difficult period & one of the member got inspired by Dr. Martin Luther King & the song has quotation from one of Dr. King speech “If you can’t fly then run, if you can’t run then walk, if you can’t walk then crawl, but whatever you do you have to moving forward!” So check out the lyrics as well because one of the reason their fans love them is that their music has so much positive messages in their lyrics! (Idol was the only MV I've seen them mostly using green screen - they don't do it a lot on their MVs - and it was in a satirical way, it was a genius concept)

Just so you know, they always dance in their Timbers... Occasionally they will dance in loafers and what not. Crazy right? I've noticed that all the dancer reactors always commented on how are they able to dance not only in Timbers but sometimes wearing tight jeans and others. Yeah, they are good like that. One of the reasons why the ARMY are so proud of our boys because they are talented. Not all hyped up... Fame comes with talents. Yes, they can be hyped up but people won't stay if they don't have that 'something' to back it up. Their early works are heavily influenced by hip hop and hard dance moves so I love to see you react to one of their dance practice during their debut year; We Are Bulletproof Pt. 2.

J Hope is one of the dance leaders and is the one responsible for making the dance choreography. He makes the dance moves while adding his own little spice to it which I love because I agree wothbyou guys it's different and refreshing to watch. I'm glad they came together and blessed out hearts and ears with This uplifting music. If it wasn't for a CZcams ad and bbma awards I would not k ow what kpop is. Bts was the first to introduce me to kpop and others came along. It's all love Bts.

They filmed this somewhere in South Korea in their own country....i don’t remember what they said the name was! *Everything they used in their previous music videos was REAL (No CGI) just extreme editing and a few fake items up until their “IDOL” MV and so on where they’re able to use more sets, editing and green screen*
For the dance practice they had to borrow a school gym....as you can see the school banner name is blurred out and also the members are wearing the separate clothing so you know who they are from the back up dancers / kpop trainees!
Love your family and that you are sharing this with them. It's nice when family can enjoy things together, especially if you don't have to cover up any young eyes and ears.
You all need to start checking out their dance practice videos; serious ones and the playful ones.

Usually with videos: if it is spring or summer in the video, it is probably fall or winter in real life. Then the opposite: fall/winter in MV = spring/summer IRL.

Among of the things that i like about BTS is that, even their choreo has meaning and total connected with their own songs. Many other kpop groups tend to just have slick dance move that just put together to look good without actually even has that meaning. But BTS have so many meaningful songs with meaningful choreo like DNA, spring day, blood sweat n tears, i'm fine, fake love, etc. Its like telling a story through their choreo as well.
If i remember correctly Keone Madrid did the choreo for this. Keone & his wife Mari have done quite a few choreos for BTS.

They filmed primarily in a parking garage and down a rock quarry. Get a drone, tons of backup dancers, a sick platforms dance on, and freaking incredible color correction...apparently that’s all you need for one of the most badass music videos

I love how you guys react to all bts vids, without overdoing it. I mean I can feel the sincerity of you watching and discussing every single lines, choreos as well as each members' personalities. And the fact that you are only reacting to BTS means so much, putting all your time and effort to the group you know that's worth your time and praises and only Armies like us understand the deeper meaning I just cant put it into words right now😊

Since you guys are pretty dance-centric, why don’t you react to one of their older songs called Dope? Both the MV and dance practice. It was also choreographed by Keone Madrid and the members themselves said it was something they had never tried before (although they were younger). I’m a dancer myself and personally I find the choreo to be really unique and it fits in perfectly with the message they’re trying to convey through the song. I highly recommend Dope! Thanks 💜

"Not Today" is my favorite song to get hyped. Thanks to Nico for pointing out the awesome lyrics. Lots of other commenters were suggesting this: Check out "Not Today BTS Behind the Scenes Eng Sub" which should get you to the making-of vid for this MV. It's not long, but you'll gain appreciation for the process of creating a BTS MV.
Also, Adam I don't think it was quite a ball-change because it looks like they were not really using the ball of their feet; it appears to be more of a flat footed move, but I haven't attempted that particular sequence myself yet. 😋
Since I have been watching you guys rom the start, I think it's time for a live performance that will not disappoint. BTS is known for this epic award show feature they did which in total is 20 minutes, but I would like to recommend that you watch just the last part together with Adam, maybe even the whole fam! 😁 It's "Intro + Idol" from the Melon Music Awards 2018. The great thing about the dance practice videos is that we get to see all of the choreography that we don't get to see during the mvs. So if something doesn't look familiar during the practice video it's probably because it wasn't shown during the mv. ☺
