Is this movie based on that Letornau woman? I love both of these actresses but why make a movie about that groomer and abuser bc that was NOT a relationship, that was disgusting what she did.
I asked a friend who saw it today if it showed any signs of the young man who is still in the relationship with this woman (in the movie) being troubled by it. Or if it showed her as being mentally unstable in any way. My friend said not really. I find that disturbing. Because even if the woman did have to do time for the crime it seems like the message is that a young man can be molested but everything can work out hunky dory in the end. And that is a very troubling message. Boys are being victimized more and more and sadly it's often dismissed because "boys will be boys" and they should be able to handle such a thing. When in reality boys at that age are even more immature than their female counterparts at that age and need to be protected just as much as girls are. No interest in this movie unless the woman is depicted as mental, seriously troubled, and still being ostracized and made a pariah for what she did to a boy. Similarly they need to show him as a not so well-adjusted guy either. Otherwise it sends a really bad message.

I wonder what relationship the title refers to. A May-December relationship isn't just a younger person in a romantic relationship with an older one, it's a specific type of relationship where the younger person (May) is roughly early middle age and the older person (December) is elderly. It originally referred specifically to a thirty or forty-something woman, either an "old maid" or divorcee entering into a relationship with an elderly, usually affluent, man. The marriages were often marriages of convenience, a transactional relationship in which the woman would get access to resources and the older man would get a partner to take care of him in old age. There appear to be two relationships in this trailer, at least. The 36-year-old school teacher who molested a 13-year-old boy whom she later married, and 20 some years later is still married to. And it's strongly implied that there is a romantic attraction between the actress playing the teacher as a younger woman (Natalie Portman) and the now middle-aged former teacher. Which leaves me wondering if there's an actual elderly person involved here, or is "May December" being used to refer to any relationship with a significant age difference? Also, the first half of the trailer obscures the Portman character's face, which makes me wonder if this is something that happens in the movie, or is a stylistic choice on the part of the company that cut the trailer.
I remember the actual story this was based on. I wonder if kids are apart of this story because I know the lady in real life had 2 daughters with him then she died of cancer. 😅

I believe the meaning has changed to any RS w/ large age gap.. or maybe most ppl just don't understand the true meaning.
I thought it's a pun because the teacher's name is May

Two superb actors with a riveting story, could be Oscar contenders. However, I can’t help wondering what this would be like if it was a male teacher with a young female student.
It's eeeeew in both scenarios
Well, they’re definitely not trying to portray this relationship in a positive light. Both are seen as bad
There are so many real life older males / young females couples, do we need to really wonder?
ie: Harrison Ford/ Calista Flockhart, Mike Douglas / Zeta-Jones, Rod Stewart / Penny Lancaster..
We don’t need to wonder. It has been done over and over and over and over.
This is romanticizing a predatory relationship.
Reggie Mantle of Riverdale! Charles Melton sure levelled up with that Golden Globe nomination, co-stars, script, etc. Far cry from his previous job.
Why is this trailer so low in quality?
It’s not on Netflix uk
Rn
Isn't this Charles Melton? Why isn't his name in the title or description box?
