The story is about the Japanese occupation of Korea during World War II. A Korean patriot played by Carter Wong gets into a fight with some Japanese people and is chased into a church. The priest there is captured and tortured. Trying to secure his release, the leader of the resistance, Jhoon Rhee is himself captured and tortured by the Japanese. Carter Wong, Angela Mao and Anne Winton have to now try and rescue him. This leads to an explosive climax with the heroes having to fight the likes of Wong In Sik (Hwang In-Shik), Sammo Hung and Kenji Kazama.

I got my copy on Monday and it is just a beautiful transfer and fantastic film, I can now retire my old Hong Kong Legends dvd .

Did anyone try this region B blu-ray in a region A North American player to see if it plays. I have several UK region B blu-rays that actually play in my region A player here in Canada.
'When Taekwondo strikes' is lovingly restored and the picture is very crisp as is the audio. However eureka have made a blunder on the cover sleeve. It states besides the " classic" english dub there is an optional english dub with different music cues. This is not correct. This dub is not featured on the disc or even mentioned in the main menu. Also the documentary ' 'The best of the martial arts films' has some scenes which are very grainy or have picture noise. To their credit, Eureka have tried to insert some restored sequences from other HD sourced material.
We mentioned that in the video. Not sure where the other English dub option came from, but it's not on the disc.
I got in touch with eureka and they apologise that the sleevenote mentioning the optional dub is an error on their part.
